The staff was super friendly and helpful everyday! And is like a 10 min walk to the catedral. The breakfast was pretty good also and the coffee/restaurant the main thing are books! So was perfect I loved it! I got a room with view to the street and yes you can hear the bus passing and the guy with the bell telling u the trash truck is coming like 3 times in the morning lol so if u are really picky about the noise just make sure you ask for a room in far.deom the street. But besides that I will totally recommend this hotel :)
Very positively surprised by this small hotel in the historic part of Morelia! The staff speaks English, is very friendly and helpful. I am not an art fan so had no idea that the hotel was based on art but i really enjoyed all the art exposed in the hotel and their gallery. The hotel and rooms are really charming and unique. There's also a small bookshop/coffee shop where I had my breakfast (included with the room), it's pretty trendy and chill. Also, the hotel is a walking distance from a really nice market, Morelias Cathedral, nice restaurants,... Saved me a lot of taxis! The only thing I would need to precise is that if you take a room with street view, you'll have a nice view (art is even exposed outside the hotel room window!!) but it can get a bit noisy... The person at the reception told me that they have quieter rooms on the inside of the hotel, so if you want quiet, don't forget to ask for a room on that side. To be honest the noise wasn't that loud but it's good to know! Loved my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!
Hotel Portico is a very special place that should not be missed when visiting beautiful Morelia. It's a cosy hotel that not only welcomes you in the very heart of the city, but also allows for a full experience. You can sip excellent coffee or enjoy a local breakfast while checking out books, exploring the latest art exhibition, or simply having a nice chat with the friendly staff. Room are spacious and with all comforts. Warmly recommended!
We stayed three nights at this beautiful hotel in Morelia. I was so pleased with my choice, thanks to previous reviewers I picked the perfect place. Our two bed room--Artista Mizraim Cardenas--was very spacious, bright and airy, three things that mean a lot to me. Two large windows opened completely, but also closed up tight to block out street noise. The bathroom was large and ultra modern. Lots of hot water for showers. Beds were very comfortable. Wireless internet did not work in the room, but the lobby areas have nice sitting spots. A made to order hot breakfast is included in the room price and is served in the pretty lobby restaurant. It was delicious! It included fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee made just for us. On Sunday morning, we were surprised by a phone call asking us what we wanted for breakfast--it was then brought to our room as the restaurant is not open that day. Free room service! I liked the location--about a ten minute walk from the cathedral. I'd love to return to Morelia and would definitely stay at the Hotel Portico again.
We really enjoyed staying at Hotel Portico, our room was very cozy and clean, with a comfortable bed, nice decor, and hot water. Friendly staff! About a 10 minute walk to the cathedral. Would definitely stay here again and spend more time in Morelia.
This hotel is located two blocks from the aqueduct, six blocks from the zocalo (town square) and two blocks from the local market. Do not be afraid to venture to the market, you will be rewarded with beautiful displays of food and flowers. Sit in the lobby and gaze at the stained glass sun above. Our room was large; our traveling companion's a little smaller. The showers had hot water and the beds comfortable. We had a corner room with two large windows, it was bright and cheery during the day, bright and loud at night. During a heavy rainstorm our ceiling leaked but luckily not over the bed. Breakfast was included and served in the small bistro attached. We found the bar there nice for an afternoon beverage. .
4 of us recently enjoyed 4 nights in this hotel, 2 different rooms. We reserved the rooms about one month in advance knowing our very low price included breakfast and free secure parking less than 2 blocks away. The hotel staff was helpful securing tours for us, asking us for our breakfast preferences a day in advance, and serving us unlimited coffee for our morning caffeine needs. The rooms were very clean, the artistry in each room unique, and the entire hotel beautifully designed. During our discovery of Morelia city we were able to walk to everything we wished to see. The hotel's rooms are all on a second floor with no elevator so those unable to walk up a flight of stairs should book elsewhere. We were delighted with our 4 days in this hotel and will use it again when we make another visit to Morelia.
