This hotel in particular cought my eye since day one. As you walk into the hotel you'll admire the colonial interior and most of all the warm welcome of the staff. Our bedroom was lovely. If you are "not" an early bird make sure you request a quiet room, we had a nice view to the colonial street but around 5am or so the city awakend and so did we. In more detail, the bedroom sheets were immaculate, wifi worked, great indoor atmosphere and the location is great. However, the A/C did not work and those nights were hot. Now the bathroom, toilets worked and were clean, shower needs a little tender loving care. If you dont mind a little calcium on the showerheads, then your good. On the bottom level of the hotel they have a small outdoor garden/patio where you can sit and enjoy the view. I titled my review "downtown enchantment" because it is. When the sun sets and the street lights go on, the little window that we had in our bedrooom was iluminated by the beauty of Morelia. Hard to explain. Bottom line, this hotel was great!

Although the room was cheap....it was hot. No fan. No air conditioning. Tried to open window but it was stuck. Only opened a cm at the bottom. But this helped even though it opened up onto an internal area behind reception. Unfortunately at 1130pm a stench entered the room from outside. Think sewage, imagine being in the actual sewer. Enough to retch and vomit. I called reception to ask if they could do something. They said theyd check. A guy went outside using his phone as a torch. Nothing improved. I slept with the sheet covering my nose and sprayed room with perfume. A horrible nights sleep and the smell continues. We got up at 7 and left. Not the plan.

Nicely different hotel. The converted patio doubles as a hotel lobby and restaurant which makes it a very friendly entrance. Helpful staff although not too conversant in English. Decent Wifi in rooms and restaurant. Quiet and clean rooms

The staff was accommodating when I explained ahead of my arrival that I needed quiet. They gave me a quiet room. ;) Sheets were immaculate. WiFi worked. There was always bottled water. (Warning according to locals: don't drink the tap water in Morelia). Liked the large walk-in shower. Would not recommend eating in the restaurant, ordinary, as there are excellent places in the neighborhood.

Morelia is a huge place and to have a stay at this hotel right downtown within walking distance of the cathedral and the aqueduct and several parks was wonderful. Breakfast is included and is a full breakfast with chef made omelets if desired.

Stayed here for three nights..beds are hard but that is ok with me. Others complained. Street noise can be annoying but if one wants to be near everything then there will be noise. Air conditioner in my room not in others. They had to ask for fans. In Room Complimentary Coffee for only one morning. $25.00 pesos if you want more. Never heard of such a thing. Maid service first day excellent and that was it..Breakfast was not ready at scheduled time and buffet line was not very good. Fresh fruits and yogurt was good. Window to place order for eggs etc. created long and time consuming lines. Location is great but it is a throw back to the HJs of the 1970's 1980's...revamping of the rooms needs to be done...

I visited Morelia recently and decided to stay here because of the price and location. The hotel lobby was very clean and quiet. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was also very clean. The first night I slept here I woke up in the middle of the night from the hard beds. I believe the reason is because the bed did not have any type of mattress support. The actual mattress sits on a concrete box. Also, my room had a view that over looked a concrete wall. The room was quiet throughout the night, but noisy really early in the morning. One more thing, the wifi was decent - a little on the slow side. Overall, I would stay here in the near future due to it's great location, friendly staff, and good price.

This is my 2nd time to stay at this property. We find it very convenient to the shops and restaurants at the nearby plaza. There are other hotels located directly at the plaza but at a much higher expense. The rooms are clean. You can not drink the water but they do provide you with 2 bottles of water each day. The beds are very firm and the floor doesn't have any padding but its Mexico! The bathrooms have a separate toilet / shower area and then a dressing / sink area which is very convenient when traveling with groups or roommates. Flat screen TVs and a wall unit A/C. Also, there is a window you can open for fresh air which is nice at night. The restaurant food was wonderful and extremely inexpensive! There is a very nice meeting area / courtyard on the lower level. A parking garage and back entrance is convenient for our large group to travel together and pickup / drop off. The front entrance is convenient for walking. Note: The hotel staff does not speak English so be prepared with your google translator when speaking to the front desk!

The hotel Howard Johnson Calle Real Morelia is wonderful! all the employes are professionals, the hotel is clean, quiet and delicious meals! I want to thank the manager Lic Eduardo Gonzalez Villalpando for his personal and professional attention to the group MOST (MERCY OUTREACH SURGICAL TEAM).

I gave this place a 2 rating as the staff was very helpful. Except for the manager. He was very sweet but was asked on 2 occasions to have extra blanket sent to the room on 2 different days and although he smiled and was very pleasant, no blankets. Room 5 had no heat but I slept with a sweatshirt over my pajamas and used the blankets to put underneath me so I wouldn't awake with a broken back. A friend was in room 256 with a comfortable bed, heat and air conditioning. Why is there a difference between rooms?? A salad from the restaurant had lettuce, canned vegetables and bottled (read: disgusting) Cesar dressing. The shower was a real joy--an inch ledge between it and the bathroom floor, Water all over. (Although the water pressure was fine and the hot water was too--just don't add cold.) I didn't choose this place and I certainly wouldn't in the future. And did I mention the intermittent wifi from the 1900s? Pay a bit more and have a good night's sleep.
