I only have great things to say about this hotel. It is a very beautiful hotel, very clean, lots of history in it and the staff is just wonderful. The room was very clean and the beautiful view to the city, the bathroom was nice and clean fresh towels and a lot of hot water. The only negative thing I can say about the hotel, and actually it is not the Hotel's fault, there is a lot of noise outside at night. And we closed the windows and then wooden shutters and kept the noise so wonderfully down, but it would get very stuffy inside the room, because my room did not have AC so we had about two uncomfortable nights because of the noise outside because we had to keep the window opened . Not all rooms have AC. BUT Have a ceiling fan. Overall my husband and I had a wonderful stay in this hotel. And hopefully will be coming back again.
First night was pure misery, no air conditioning and high temperatures. The Wi-Fi signal was so weak it was not worth trying for very long. The second night through the rest of the week the AC worked great and the Wi-Fi was slow, but workable. I also found two pair of underwear in my room's closet that were NOT mine. The building is beautiful and the location fantastic, but I would try another place next time. This is also the most expensive hotel in town, so I would recommend trying elsewhere and just have a drink at the Virrey.
What a pleasure. Our room, with french doors opening up to overlook the Plaza de Armas, was spacious, beautiful and comfortable. The location could not have been better. The buffet breakfast is more than you could possible want. The service was terrifc and the price was an amazing bargain. I highly recommend this hotel. Note: Wifi not accessible in the room, but it is in the lobby and outside terrace bar.
Located in the heart of the city This is an beautiful colonial place. The room 205 was decent and everything appeared cleaned. If you really want to experience Morelia and colonial history come to this hotel. The restaurant has good local food choices. It can be a little noisy but worth the experience.
Morelia is known for its colonial architecture, and the Hotel Virrey de Mendoza fits right in. The rooms are built around a central courtyard that has now been roofed over, but the feeling of a colonial villa remains. The location can't be beat - right in the middle of town directly across the street from the main town square and Morelia's famed pink stone cathedral. Of course, a central location can come with a good deal of street noise, which was the only minor drawback.
Located on the zocalo, in a colonial building with thick stone walls. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the Main Street in the center of Morelia. Fortunately, there are sound proof windows which is one of many amenities. Other things I admired were ironed sheets, fine old stile bathroom with tub, good wifi, professional staff, free and very nice breakfast, huge lobby with beautiful fireplace, piano player in the evening, outdoor arcaded cafe with good service frequented by locals sipping coffee and as mentioned, the location was in the heart of all the historic sites. Morelia is very walkable and you will discover many interesting and very historic structures, museums, convents, restaurants and a lovely nighttime scene.
We enjoyed our five night stay the last week of February. We did request a move from a street side room as we found it very noisy and were accomodated in a quite lovely room with very nice amenities. Every day we had a good breakfast (included) in the exceptionally well appointed dining room. Location cannot be beat as we were in the heart of Morelia where so many of the sights and activities take place. Overall we had an enjoyable stay
I'm not sure what we were expecting, but when we walked in and asked if the dining room was open, we saw the beautiful surroundings and thought, "mmm expensive." But our experience was quite the opposite. It was an upscale meal and dining experience without the upscale pricing. What a delight. the food was excellent and the service was over the top. The staff seemed delighted we four were there, and we were delighted as well. They had outdoor seating as well, but since it was our last day in town, we wanted our lunch experience to be special, and it truly was.
Morelia is a lovely colonial city. This hotel is located in the heart of downtown, in front of the main plaza with a gorgeous view of the Cathedral. Both architecture and rooms are from several hundred years ago which lets you experience taking back in time. Food, service and rooms are very good. This is a great hotel centrally located from main tourist attractions.
We were in town for a long weekend, and wanted a room with view to the downtown, and it was available only here. They have one of the best locations in the downtown. The staff is very kind and always nice. In the room they don't have coffeemaker, we asked for one and they brought it but without cups, we asked for them at the restaurant. And in the room weren't a place to put it. No iron and neither a place to use it. The bed was too high and it was a double mattress. One of the lamps didn't worked out. They have big furniture inside the rooms that really don't need to be there, instead a table with two chairs would be much better and useful. They need turn on the light on the halls during the day and night, cos you cannot see a thing and you could fall down with the furniture.
