Hotell Geiranger

Stayed 3 nights, used the location as a base to visit places. Nice large hotel, with excellent views of the harbor and Fjord, if you book room with view. Good wifi connectivity, good breakfast selection. Comfortable bed. Small bathroom, had an unpleasant smell and a hairdryer with a hole on one side melted by electric ark, but it was working. Friendly staff.

stayed there for 2 days. you have all you need. the service was top & I like the place. recommended. there are electric cars for rent if you like to discover the place in another way & its not expensive.

The hotel is superbly located in the fjord in Geiranger. It's is a beautiful setting with spectacular views of the Geiranger fjord and the historic Eagle Road. Ask for a room with a water view because this is what makes the hotel worthwhile. Forget the little maintenance or design problems because your here for the scenery. Beds are great. Bathroom is ok. Decor is a little old. But a big window makes you overlook these things. Shops are very close as is the chocolate factory.

Nice room facing the fjord with a balcony. The room was quiet at night. The bathroom was ok but had a tub with shower. The tub was difficult to get into and not very safe standing up to shower. No rubber mat or grab bars -not good for an old person like me. Wife wouldn't use shower. Great location and the breakfast was good.

A nice mid-range hotel right on the waterfront of Geirangerfjord. Our room was a decent size, with a stunning view out over the fjord. Breakfast was the usual excellent Norwegian buffet - plenty to set you up for the day. We also ate at the hotel's more up-market restaurant (the Friaren Bistro) - certainly better than average, though I wouldn't exactly be calling in the Michelin inspectors anytime soon. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Hotel Geiranger is located just a few steps from the waterfront, and if you get a room with a fjord view, the vista is wonderful. The hotel is aging however, and could use a modern upgrade to bring it up to a 4+ star level. The bed — 2 twins pushed together — was comfortable. The bathroom was small, and had a tub rather than a walk-in shower. Additionally, the tub had no anti-slip mat so it was very sketchy taking a shower in there. They could make a big improvement if they just re-did the bathrooms with a walk-in shower and a bigger vanity countertop. We had dinner in the a la carte restaurant on ground level, and the food there was very good. I had reindeer pizza and my wife had the salmon. The breakfast buffet next morning was dreadful. Scrambled eggs were made from the powdered mix, not real eggs; the bacon was much too salty; and many of the side dishes were things like pickled herring in tomato pesto, or pickled herring in mustard sauce. Sorry, but that might be breakfast food for a Norwegian, but I think most of the people at this hotel are foreigners. All things considered, I could not give this hotel more than 3 stars.

Breakfast very good, and also the dinner buffer offfered by the hotel The position of the hotel is just perfect for Geiranger: the wonderful view to the fjord; close to the pier, shops and supermarket. Some of the rooms need some "refreshing" Nice hotel

The best location ever. Looking over the Fjord. Had a low level room. Needs updating, but otherwise everything you need in a room. No tea and coffee, but they have a room you can go too, to get one. The buffet breakfast and dinner is superb. The little village is a one minute walk and delightful.

We arrived in Geiranger by car late in the afternoon when a cruise ship was in port. The town is very small and was completely overrun with cruise ship passengers. This made it difficult to navigate the tight streets, find a car park and even fine the reception area of this hotel. Parking is limited - you have to park in the supermarket car park at the waterfront and walk back up to the hotel. You can acess the hotel reception area through the gift shop downstairs and take the lift to the walkway over the road. Rooms were basic but with a small balcony and a stunning view of the fjord. This alone made it worth the effort. Dining options are limited in the town and the hotel restaurants were pretty ordinary. Breakfast buffet was a good option though. This hotel trades purely off the view.

Arrived at the hotel around noon but was told our room was not available until 3pm. They were nice enough to hold our backpacks in their office and refilled my water bottle as well. Had an awesome view of the fjords but rooms could use some updates. Also, housekeeping walked into the room while we were still getting ready for breakfast and the "do not disturb" sign clearly hanging on the door! Breakfast was ok. Would probably stay here again just for the location.
