This hotel is functional - simple rooms, Scandinavian size (i.e. small), but good bathroom. You don't get luxury but it does the trick. Breakfast was good, although didn't have any plant-based drinks or fresh juice. The location is great - two minutes from the bus station, breathtaking view of the mountains surrounding Ålesund, and walkable distance to everything. Friendly staff.
We had an sosial event in Ålesund, and was in need of a room for one night, and booked through Hotels.com. We had a ok room, with the best bed ever, First Smart Bed that can be adjusted. We had a very good night sleep, before going down for a good breakfast that is served in Waynes Coffee in the reception area. The hotel is old, but rit’s enovated, and we had a very good stay.
Location us everything - and this harbor front hotel has exactly that. The rooms are spacious and nice, and the frontdesk makes sure you are checked in very quickly. The breakfast is good and a decent buffet to choose from.
I had specified my time of arrival in the booking, but had to wait 30min. Not a huge deal but still. Got what I guess is a deluxe room or something of the sort. Room was nice enough. Average (Norwegian standard) bed. Seemed modern. There was a balcony, but it was all green and moldy looking, not very appealing. The rest of the room was spotless though. Would recommend getting 601-607 or something around there, seems like they have sea view. There was an nespresso machine in the room, but it only had two capsules, not enough for a long night of work. Breakfast was average. Normal spreads, bacon and eggs, etc. The service is minimal, tables are not set etc. There is a Wayne’s Coffee in the lobby, in the mornings they just kind of put everything in front of that. No coffees from there included, just normal pot coffee. Had lunch there, would not recommmend. Overpriced and bland taste. However the rooms are dirt cheap compared to a lot of other cities and you can hardly fault them for the price point. All in all you get a modern looking hotel with perhaps minimal service but at a great price point. Plus for location, it’s very central.
Hotell is Old,but rooms ok. Beds are fantastic, staff is very helpfull and serviceminded. You feil like They really want you to have a good stay. Breakfast not complicated but fresh and good—all you need:) Also a good price, and in middel of evrything so just book it.
The location of First Hotel Atlantica is very convenient. All we wanted to visit were within walking distance. We traveled to Ålesund by Hurtigruten cruise and it only took us about 8 to 10 minutes easy walk from the port to the hotel. The bus to the airport stopped at Ålesund rutebilstasjon which was right around the corner. Check-in was efficient. The girl at the reception was helpful and provided several tips for our visit. The room itself was clean and comfortable. However I hope the management could pay more attention to maintenance as 2 out of the 3 lamps in the room were out of order. There wasn't any light bulb in one of them. TV was unplugged since the socket was malfunction as well. I think we were checked into a room which was waiting for further maintenance. Breakfast buffet started at 6AM and was pretty good with many cold and hot food selections. There was also a waffle maker for guests to make their own. Overall it was a decent experience and the room rate was reasonable consider the prime location.
If you arrive by car it's easy to park really near the hotel. The room was ok and they placed a crib for free for our baby. The breakfast was really good and you can make waffles by yourself. The staff is really friendly and they have iron and ironing board to lend.
Nice hotel on a very central location in the middle of Aalesund. All you need is within walking distance. Nice and effective service from the staff. The rooms could have been more spacious, but they are cozy and clean. The beds are very good.
Two different fjords on view, and location 100 metres from the bus station, make this a top choice. Wayne's coffee in the reception/breakfast lounge is a good idea, but I'm pretty syre Wayne would not have approved of the almost coffee served with the otherwise excellent breakfast. The superior category is well worth the small extra expense. #618 had excessively noisy ventilation, considering that's all it was - no A/C, heating is electric and primitive. Good beds, TV channel listing missing.
We stayed here for 2 nights before heading to Geiranger for another 2 nights. Asked the staff if we can keep our bags stored in the hotel while we were away in Geiranger since we will be coming back to the hotel for one more night before heading to Denmark. And they agreed and it was even for free! We didn't even think twice about the safety of our bags and sure enough, we found them exactly as we had left them! Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are big, very spacious and clean. Breakfast was standard "hotel breakfast" but still good. The location is excellent! Close to everything including bus station. I'd definitely come back here if I ever find myself in Alesund again.
