We spent four nights here in early March. The positives: the location is excellent and the view interesting. We also found the parking easy and available, with the lack of pre-booking not causing us a problem. The room décor is getting tired and we did encounter an intermittent water-hammer noise in the pipes (which we reported on our departure and was dealt with calmly and apologetically by the hotel staff). The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. (The restaurant, Le 140, was a big disappointment, which is covered in a separate review). Overall, an average experience.
Needless to say the location is one of the best in La Grande Motte. I came for a conference and thus needed an iron and board. But the board provided was a table-top mini one, which didn't really suit, and the receptionist simply told me that was the only type they could provide. Tried to phone the advertised 'complain' number several times, but line was always busy -- either too many people were making complains or the line was not real. The room looks quite old with signs of age. View of the seafront is excellent though.
We booked last minute to stay the Mercure Hotel and checked in with Ezilda who was extremely competent and very helpful especially as we had booked the wrong weekend dates by mistake! The hotel is dog friendly and we found the rooms large and clean. Rooms have views over the harbour which was nice as you can see sunrise and sunset. We didn't choose to eat breakfast or dinner in the hotel as there was so many cafes and restaurants all around the harbour. If you like fresh fish and shellfish La Grand Motte is perfect for good choices. We enjoyed walking on the beaches and viewing the Mexican inspired architecture.
overall Hotel ok . Parking is far too small and despite reception commitment I had no place when I arrived after outside diner around 10PM. Having said that it seem s the parking policy is first in first served. That's ok as long as it is stated upfront.
Nice hotel in a great location, friendly staff and the food was very good, overall good value for money and ideal to stay for both business or pleasure - not the most luxurious location but functional - worth a stay
This Hotel fits into the core of La Grande Motte and its very special architecture. All rooms have a fantastic view. The staff was efficient and very friendly. The room was very clean and larger than in many other hotels of the same price range. Everything works well. Like other Hotels of the Mercure or Novotel brand, there are those carpets, that don‘t look good and give the wrong idea of the hotels standards of cleanliness. We have not been there for the first time and we will go there again
We stayed here as a family over a weekend. The hotel is maybe a little functional but the Marina views are really lovely and the breakfast was pleasant. The local area is really lovely to walk around - a quaint seaside resort.
Stayed for 3 nights in late December. The check in process was straight forward and effective. My room was on 8th floor, near fire exit. Quiet area, which was appreciated. The room itself served its purpose but was not special. Cleanliness above average, balcony was ok. On the more critical side: the bathroom was below average, with terribly thin towels, a shower over bath with a shower head that didn’t stay in place. Old fashioned shower curtain was old, and given narrow bath the (very cold) curtain kept making contact with my skin. The cleaners also left my balcony door open one day, so I came in to a very cold room but more importantly felt this was unsafe. Breakfast was decent, plenty of fresh bread, meats and cereals. For the price paid this was reasonable but nothing more.
Was travelling on biz to the south of France for a couple of days and decided to base ourselves in La Grande Motte. Overall this hotel could possibly use a fresh coat of paint, however it does not take away the fact that it is located in a beautiful spot with great French seafood. Overall we were very pleased with our seaview room!
The hotel was badly in need of renovation. But better cleaning would also help...... Old smelly carpets full og stains, dust and unpleasent smell in the rooms. This could have been a nice hotel, With its prime location in the harbour in Grande Motte. However the hotel /staff completely lacked the culture of caring,..... The flowers outside was dead, nobody seem to care to water or change, The breakfast terrace/resto was covered With dead leaves, nobody removed them, the carpets were fll of stains........ Get the idea? It`s a pity, with the right management the hotel would have potential. We had planned to stay for several days at this hotel, but chose to leave after one night. One more thing......Very rude front desk manager. On the positive side: Breakfast buffet was good.
