If you're looking for a cheap one night stop-over - this will do the trick. Rooms were clean and spacious enough. Reception was average - basically just handing over your room ke and were dos-interested in helping with local guidance - how to get into the city centre etc. If you have heavy luggage ask for a ground floor room - the stairs were a challenge. Wifi wasn't working, which disappointing given it is a big part of their advertisement and one of the reasons we chose them. When we asked why it wasn't working - they just shrugged and said it would be fixed tomorrow.
Stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago for the second time on a journey to Spain. Last year we were quite satisfied but this year we were charged twice on the credit card for the one night. I emailed Campanile twice with no response so then contacted the bank with the problem. The bank credited the money back and are sorting it out with Campanile. I am very disappointed with Campanile for not responding, we have stayed at several of their hotels in the past in France but probably not again. The rooms are okay but I would agree with Linda L that the bathroom floods after a shower.
Very beautiful hotel, kind personal, clean room, continental breakfast, tasty dinner. 2 min walk to Casino market, 5 min tamway station or 20 min walk to the city centre. Good price and availability...
I spent a night in this hotel to break my journey from Spain to Italy. Having used the Campanile chain in the past, I was sure to find the same quality as before. I think this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in! The walls of the room were made of plasterboard so you could hear every move from the other rooms and from outside. There was no hairdryer and when we asked for one, we were told to bring it back immediately. The bathroom was a wet room and after my shower I found out just how wet a room it was! I tried to dry it a little with the bathmat and saw how filthy it became! Goodness knows when the floor had been washed last time, and we walk over it, have a shower in it, it was disgusting! Never againwill I use Campanile.
The hotel is placed in a commercial center near Montpellier downtown. Lots os places to eat (mostly fast food). A public transportation (tram) can take directly to downtown. Private parking lot available for free. Internet access a bit slowly. The rooms are clean but not taking care to the smallest details (do not misunderstand me, the room is really clean, but a 3/4 star hotel normally looks a bit better)
By far the rudest staff I've ever met in my life... Rooms are terrible... Water was not working... But nothing tops how unprofessional the people working there are... I think people should stay away from this hotel
This is a well known and established budget brand that gives great value with a good standard of service and accommodation. We stayed at this hotel for 2 days and found it to be well equipped and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Our French was quite poor but they understood and gave us good directions and help for our visit. Our one and only complaint was that there seemed to be a shortage of towels. we were short one towel on arrival. We were out all day the next day and didn't get back till gone midnight when we found we didn't have any hand towels or a bath mat. The hotel is close to the motor way and very easy to find. There is a bus runs by the hotel and the tram station is a couple of minutes walk away. To buy tickets at the tram station is very easy but you need coins, the machines do not accept notes but you can use credit/debit cards. Montpellier is a lovely city, well worth a visit. If you can, be there on a Friday, it's festival day.
This hotel is an overpriced disaster. Almost impossible to find even with GPS - it's stuck behind other buildings. The rooms are tiny, tastelessly decorated, towels threadbare, staff can barely understand English, and it is miles out of the city, by the motorway. It has nothing whatsoever going for it.
Hotel is good in general but stuff is not helpful at all. When we checked in the reception just replied with a single "no" to everything that we asked for. Rooms are cosy and hotel is in a quiet area which feels like you are in a forest but in the morning there are a lot of constructions happening around so its a bit noisy. The internet doesn't work at all at the point where is difficult to even receive emails. Tried to speak with the night shift receptionist about internet issues and receptionist was also not helpful by saying only "I don't know" and then started speaking French so that I don't understand him.
We had booked an overnight stay here on way to Barcelona. This is ultra basic with its decor and services e.g. no tissues, hand towels, safe . Added to this the hand soap was empty, spiders in the bed, no restaurants within walking distance (other than the one at the hotel) . This would only be OK if you were looking for an overnight stay near the highway and got it at a cheap price.
