I don't know where the other reviewers normally stay, but for the price, this is on par with what you would get anywhere. The room was clean. The interior was dated and the bed was not the best, however, definitely sleepable. The water pressure was okay and I really had no issues. As long as you don't expect luxury then you won't be disappointed. The wifi is terrible, but then again, cell phone service is terrible out here too.
This motel offers little more than a bed and shower. The room looks cheap and stale. The bed and sheets are old, but clean. The breakfast offered is dry flakes, coffee and juice. I will not stay here again, there are better with similar price in the area.
All the other reviews you've read are true. This place is awful. Dirty (as in large empty bottle on the floor in plain sight, no cups even though there is a coffee maker, graffiti on bathroom wall, tiles missing in the bathroom). I covered up head to toe to sleep and put a sweater over the pillow to keep from having to put my head on the pillow itself. Purchased hotel via Hotwire. Shame on them. Oh, and "breakfast" has one table that seats 4 in a little tiny room that is also where you check in/out. Paid over $100. Never again. And never again will I use Hotwire.
we had booked this motel in april 2016. it was not the chaepest in monterey , but the pictures were nice, and some comments of former guest were also good, but not fore us. Terrible, you can see it on the photo's i had shot. curtains were broken. and a lot of other things were in terrible conditions. never , never will we come here again .
I should have read the reviews. My fault for not . Please don't make my mistake. Dirty room, stained and dirty floor and chairs. No w-fi connection and no AC. I don't mean the AC didn't work. There was no AC unit in the room. The clerk did try to get the wi fi working so I will give him credit for that.
Paint is chipping in bathroom..that can result to lead poisoning. Shower head looks like its clamped on and sounds like your starting a car when you start the water. You literally feel like your sleeping in the middle of the parking lot with all the noise around. I used my own pillow and blanket. Was afraid of the there sheets. This is an ideal place for any adult who wants to enjoy Monterey, get a cheap hotel, get drunk and not even notice how horrible the room is when you make it to your room at night.
One star for this deplorable motel dump is still giving too much credit. We literally thought we had stepped into a third world country. It is beyond me how such a place can even exist in such a beautiful place as Monterey. And the nerve in trying to charge us for $149 a night! When we pulled up to the room, we were all hit with a cloud of cannabis, which being quasi legal in California was overlooked until I saw the screen pried away from the window. Just look at some of the photos. It gets even worse from here. Lights bulbs missing, in fact the whole lamp shade and fixture, gone! With electrical tape wrapped around the base of it as to insure no one would get electrocuted! Seriously?! Battery missing out of the smoke detector. Another violation. Carpet coming up at the corners. Ceiling repairs from obvious roof leaks, questionable carpets stains that I don't want to know about and bed spreads and pillows that clearly have never been cleaned or replaced for God only knows how long. The bathroom was even worse with hairdryers falling off the wall, melted toilet seats and the most disgusting shrivelled bar of hairy soap still left in the shower soap dish that had clearly been there for weeks. The stained ironing board should have been thrown out years ago. Missing electrical outlet covers (fourth violation) and ripped curtains to top it all off. Friends of ours staying in another room had the latch and lock broken off their kitchenette window. What does that tell you? In my opinion, it appears to be a drug dealer haven. If I could've posted 25 other photos, I would have. This dump needs to be condemned and demolished. Potential hazard. I am insulted and appalled that the management thought it acceptable to assign us this room. It only took us five minutes before we were getting our money back and seeking accommodations elsewhere in a different town. The owners and the Econo Lodge franchise needs to be ashamed of themselves. We were forced to look here as there were no more rooms in town for the bike race...and they knew it too. Talk about gouging! When was the last time this motel was inspected by the county or city? We will NEVER consider an Econo Lodge EVER again.
This place is dirty, no filthy, and the entire property is littered with garbage and cigarette butts. I was there when The Monterey County Health Dept.had red tagged the pool, locked it with their pad lock and had put a big warning sign on the entrance to the pool and jaccuzzi. The carpets are so dirty that your white socks get black just walking around the room after a short period of time. Musty rooms with boken microwaves, wires hanging out, wrecked cars and PODS in the parking lot, cig burns in the blankets, lumpy pillows on old mattresses, beer cans and trash found under the bed, bare bones breakfast lacking anything remotely good for you, suspect people roaming the parking lot at night, etc. etc, etc.. Even the staff laugh at what they're asking for the rooms !! And the older Eastern Indian lady in the office had such a short fuse that when confronted with the health and safety violations on the property and overall cleanliness of the pool and property, she sent her punk husband out to to threaten to "beat me up." Really ? AVOID THIS PLACE !!!!
Wow.... What a terrible place to stay. The location was well centered for the weeks events. However, it was shabby and nasty. I shortened my stay by one day. I hope they spend at least some of the 1322.00 I spent for the four nights, on some improvements....
Our experience was terrible because of the physical condition of the facility. Room was relatively clean but had wires from a disconnected smoke alarm on the ceiling although a replacement was on the wall. Chair in room was stained and dirty. The furniture was old and chipped. Shower was stained. Had to pay 25 cents in ice machine. Pool was a bit green. Cleaning staff seemed to do good job. Front desk staff were not friendly at check in.
