From the first step you set into the lobby you can feel the passion of the employees for their job. It is run family style but what a customer service spirit they have. Iacopo at the front desk along with Marcello are the most incredible and professional front desk agents I've met in my life...and I work in a hotel! Maruska the restaurant waitress is amazing! Always with a smile on her face. By the way, the Easter lunch menu was one of the best I've ever had in my life! The rooms are spacious and very clean. The location of the Hotel very central....few minutes walking distance to anywhere in downtown Asti.
We had a wonderful time here. The staff could not be more courteous and helpful. The room was large and combined modern with classic Italian furniture. Great accommodations for the price. So close to Piazza Secondi and tons of great shopping. I will definitely stay here again! Go to Casamar for awesome seafood and wine.
Stayed just one night. Had booked a superior room which was placed in an extension to the hotel. On a mezzanine floor where the elevator did not stop so you either had to carry your bag up or down a flight of stairs. The room was big, quiet and clean. Breakfast ok in a room that was a bit sterile. Friendly staff. Expect difficulties if you arrive by car. Very limited parking space. The Hotel Palio is not a hotel (in my mind) for a longer stay, but for a night or two when visiting Asti it is ok.
This hotel is one of the hotel that i stayed during my long pilgrimage tour across europe. Even though this hotel is quite small but they way they are serving people is like a five star hotel service. Room tend to be basic but its clean and i got a very good sleep here. Unlike most of hotel in Italy in which they can't speak english, this hotel staff speak a good english that make us easier to communicate. Keep up the good service guys
This is not a four star hotel, but a typical Italian three star hotel. Good location close to the old part of the city. Our room on the 3rd floor was quiet. Pretty small room. The bed was too short for me and I am only 180 cm tall. Very small bathroom. The staff is nice and understands English even if they do not speak the language. The hotel is clean. The breakfast room is the big problem in this hotel. Far too small and doesn't have a chance to accomodate all guests when the hotel is full. Pretty uninspired breakfast. More baked goods than proper bread. No yoghurt but yoghurt cream. Bad scrambled eggs and bacon. Canned juices. WiFi is free of charge and pretty fast. Far too complicated log-in procedure and you constantly get logged out. No WiFi in the breakfast room or in the lobby.
The location of the hotel is very good. The front desk employees and restaurant staff for breakfast were also very nice and efficient. The problem with the hotel are not the fault of the employees, but a function of the environment. My stay was during the middle of the week, and during the night there was a lot of noise from the street until past 3 am. This included loud trucks, motorcycles, and cars, loud people yelling in the street, and dogs barking. The windows are old and do not provide much soundproofing. The room was very clean, but also very dark and old. The bed covers could use an upgrade and more lights would make the room feel more positive. The bathroom was big and everything worked fine. Because hotel rooms are mostly for sleeping, the cosmetics were not that much of an inconvenience, but the noise at night was a problem for me. I loved walking in the city of Asti, but this is not even close to a 4 star hotel relative to street noise and the condition of the furnishings.
We have just returned from an extended tour of Northern Italy. We stayed in 11 different hotels, and the Palio Hotel was one of the ones that impressed. We wanted to see the famous Palio horse race and sent the hotel a lot of emails and requests beforehand, all of which they responded to in a friendly and helpful manner -especially Fiorella at first and then Marcello. Our room was comfortable, spacious and quite stylish and modern, the breakfast was fine, and the situation good - just a few hundred metres from the main square.. When there were problems with the running of the horserace, they were great at keeping us in the picture. Overall, a good choice! (We saw no evidence of building works and had no problem with the parking.) I speak a little Italian, but the reception staff clearly spoke adequate English.
Not particularly cheap and I probably got a bad day....air con not working at the start and construction/restructuring blocking the entrance. To park I was sent to a dungeon with poor lighting and very small dirty garage that you have to manage on your own - I don't need help but it is a 4 star and I was not in my joggers...cleanliness vote is for the garage! As for the rest it was OK and central and staff very nice!
The entire entrance is a building site with everything that means. The bathroom was very poorly renovated and the room itself really needed a refurbish and the bed where not comfortable. The service was good and the rooms where clean but how this place got 4 stars is beyond my understanding. It is in reality more like 3. Location wise it was ok, you will cover the town of Asti in one day anyway so staying in a central hotel isn't the most important.
Maybe best option in Asti where there aren't many hotels. In Italy a lot of hotels are never updated so they are sometimes shabby and outdated. We travel a lot in Italy because we have lived there and we are very fond of Italy. The Palio hotel is a modern hotel with tasteful rooms. Room and bathroom in excellent condition. Breakfast was good. Frontdesk very friendly. We liked it!
