Chez Mamie is a beautiful family holiday home in Monbazillac, just a 10-minute walk from the village centre, with its restaurants, café-bar, wine tasting and famous château. The property sits in a lovely setting overlooking the surrounding vineyards, with a private heated saltwater swimming pool, a six-person hot tub, and a south-facing garden with direct access to the vineyard.

As a family home for generations, Chez Mamie combines traditional French character with comfortable accommodation and excellent facilities for family holidays. The house features exposed beams, thick stone walls, and spacious living areas, while the garden offers plenty of room to relax and enjoy the countryside.

The historic town of Bergerac is just 7 km away, and a recreational lake with a beach, water park, and canoeing is about 8 km away.

Monbazillac is particularly well known for its wines, and guests can enjoy local wine tasting, restaurants, and village life within walking distance.

A local bakery van also delivers fresh bread and croissants directly to the property at approximately 8.30 am each morning, except Thursdays and Sundays – a lovely way to experience everyday French life.

Chez Mamie can accommodate up to 8 adults and 6 children, subject to a maximum occupancy of 10 guests in total, plus babies aged 18 months or younger.

The property has four bedrooms, including a particularly spacious children's bedroom with six single beds.

Bedrooms and bathrooms:
Bedroom 1 – Master bedroom, upper floor. A comfortable double bedroom with a 160 × 200 cm bed, dual-aspect windows and sliding wardrobes. The bedroom is air-conditioned and has an adjacent shower room with a large rainfall shower, washbasin, and WC.

The room has six single beds, each measuring 90 × 190 cm, making it particularly suitable for children. It can also comfortably accommodate two adults. A television is provided for playing DVDs. The bedroom has an en-suite shower room with a washbasin and a separate WC.

Air conditioning is installed only in the two upper-floor bedrooms.

Bedroom 3 – Double bedroom, ground floor. An attractive double bedroom with a 140 × 200 cm bed and traditional exposed ceiling beams. The thick stone walls help keep the room naturally cool during the summer.

Bedroom 4 – Double bedroom, ground floor. A pretty double bedroom with a 160 × 200 cm bed and exposed ceiling beams. Like Bedroom 3, the thick stone walls help keep the room cool during the warmer months.

The first step extends across the full 4-metre width of the pool and reaches 2.3 metres into the water. The initial steps have depths of 20 cm and 30 cm. Further steps lead progressively into the shallow end, with depths of 40 cm, 60 cm, 80 cm and 1 metre. The remainder of the pool is approximately 1.3 metres deep. Relaxing country retreat

Stayed here for a week in July with our four teens. Great spacious house with lovely pool and garden. Owner was very helpful and friendly. Lovely views over the vineyards, easy walk to Château Monbazillac and village. Enjoyed the evening markets and exploring the local area, canoeing, cycling and sightseeing. Only negative was lack of AC on ground floor as weather was exceptionally hot. All in all a great find !

A little piece of heaven

We were a family of four, but all adults. It was a perfect location for a short walk to two great local restaurants and nearby chateau. It was a perfect location for exploring the area. We were met by the owners on arrival who were warm and welcoming, they had messaged beforehand and made communication really easy. The gite was exactly as it looked on the website and the ambience was just perfect. We will definitely be recommending it to friends and we all want to return . Merci beaucoup à Vanessa et Cyril! A bientôt!

Excellent property

This is an excellent property, accurately described in the listing, all equipment and furnishings of a very high standard. The friendliness and support given by the owners on arrival and throughout our stay was greatly appreciated. There was a problem with the hot tub which was remedied immediately, but apart from that, we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The village is quiet, yet there is a Sunday morning market, several opportunities for wine tasting and the local restaurant, La Maison Vari, is delightful. The pool, hot tub, BBQ and garden are so lovely, however, that one is reluctant to venture out. Having said that, old Bergerac and surrounding towns and villages are well worth visiting for their medieval architecture. Our family would happily recommend a stay at the cortijo rosa!

Fantastic Modern House in a Great Location

We were met by the owners(Cyril & Vanessa) at the property, they showed us around and explained how to use all the facilities. This is required as the house is very new with state of the art equipment levels including remote controlled blinds and windows, a hot tub, and modern kitchen. The house is extremely well designed with plenty of space inside and out. It was spotless when we arrived and as it is almost brand new well maintained. They suggested that on Sunday we should go to a nearby town (Issigeac) where there is a market. It was huge so be prepared to park on the approach roads. Loads of local produce with stalls occupying nearly the entire village. In the Summer Monbazillac has an evening market one night a week as do many of the surrounding towns. This is well worth a visit, lots of food, wine, trestle tables and friendly people. Cyril suggested going for a wine tasting at the vineyard you can see in the pictures, this was fun and not at all daunting as some of the chateau visits can be. There was no pressure to buy and certainly no pressure to purchase the more expensive wines. It is worth keeping a look out for special events, we went to a local producers night at a vineyard in the village, similar to the night market, again with local food and lots of wine, sat at trestle tables amongst the vines. We found it a good base for the beautiful area and will certainly consider a return visit. There is a huge amount to see and do, and we only scratched the surface.
