Riviera Marriott La Porte de Monaco

My usual place for many years being the aging fairmont which was sold out- I was desperate to get a place in Monaco during the busy summer season, I decided to risk a "Marriott" in Monaco. After a few bad experiences with aging Marriotts' in Europe, which are so different from the upgraded properties we usually perceive in Asia or even in the US, - is was wary. This property is on the edge of Monaco, probably 25+ years since its got a lick of paint or a new carpet. The breakfast was credible but not much else...with a pool wedged in front of the port. Rooms and the elevator are depressingly small and avoidable to say the least. The front desk is rude or extremely gracious depending on who's on the shift. As a Marriott rewards member of many years - the insolence was a new experience. The prices are still inflated - so no respite there either. i guess i may have to hunt for better choices next time i am desperate for a room during the busy summer season in Monaco. This Marriott is not recommended

This property is a pretty standard Marriott - but if you get a sea view room the view from balcony is amazing! Property is in Cap d'Ail - which is technically not Monaco, but other side of street is! Pretty easy to get around as whole area is so small! Service at hotel was excellent though, and the Lamparo Beach just steps away is gorgeous!

This place compares well with other mid range hotels. As others have pointed out, it is quite worn and torn but the room was ok with reasonable size and nice views over the smaller one of Monaco’s harbours. Breakfast buffet contained the stuff you would expect. The gym was small with one belt, 2 machines and some (low weight) free weights. There was a smallish pool but given the cold and rainy weather in mid June I never used it.

After staying at the Riviera Marriott (May, 2018, the 8th time over last 10 years), I feel comfortable writing an objective overall review of our experience. The location is great: small French town just across the street from Monaco. The view on the sea side is worth a million. The rooms are fine. What brought us back year after year to the same hotel are the great staff. They are very helpful, even beyond expectation. There was an incidence where my brief case (together with my iPhone and laptop) was stolen at the Paris Airport (just before coming to the Riviera) __ Johanna Fehle (Manager) patiently walked me through the steps I needed to protect myself from the incidence. I felt that my trip was saved because of her kind hospitality and her sense of taking care of the guests.

Me and my family stayed there for the Monaco Grand Prix. The hotel is walking distance from the circuit, which makes it perfect and the room is spacious and big. We also had a nice view on the port. I would like to share that on the Monday after the race, we had to book a taxi because the stay ended... unfortunately. There was traffic everywhere which made us wait a couple of hours, and we took advantage of that to have a walk along the beautiful coastline. When we came back, we took the taxi. Stephanie (the driver) welcomed us and talked with us about very interesting subjects like how she learned English and Russian, moral integrity, communication strategies and more... All this in a funny way. Well done Stephanie!

This is a very nicely located hotel on the border with Monaco. It will allow Uber drivers to pick up in Monaco as Uber is banned there. This hotel is next to a Marina with great views from the higher floors. Look out for the occasional celebrity here.

I strongly, strongly recommend against this hotel. Outdated rooms and some arrogant staff with some real nerve - especially the miserable, rude, condescending Johanna {---}. She is a bad person, in my opinion. When made aware of various deficiencies/ dropping the ball, she refused to apologize. Literally refused to say I'm sorry. Shuttle not on time half hour late "that's the way it is, busy time" She forgets people pay hard earned money to stay, while she is getting paid to be there. Overnight staff is great - very helpful - but these horrible dialogues really leave us with bad feeling

Stayed here a few weeks before the F1 and I would say that the hotel is in a lovely location by the marina, its a bit of a walk to the main sights (about 20 mins) but very quaint and you have all the amenities you can expect from a marriott hotel, I would say for the price the lead-in rooms a very ordinary, the hotel itself however is lovely.

A friend and I stayed at the Riviera Marriott when we came for the Historic Races in Monaco. I’ve been to Monaco a number of times before but never for a race weekend. Yikes! There are many streets and areas closed off and LOTS of people. The Riviera Marriott was far enough away that we felt more relaxed but close enough to easily walk downtown. The views from the side facing the sea were lovely, the restaurant was excellent in both food and service. A testament to the skills of the chef and staff since they had a big party going on when we were there for dinner. Breakfast buffet was great. All the staff at the hotel were uniformly warm, welcoming and competent, especially Peter at the front desk who checked us in with efficiency and good humor and handled our mistake in our booking dates the same way.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a larger group visiting for the Classic Grand Prix. Super room overlooking the harbour, staff so helpful about location of anything you wanted to find. Great breakfasts, although we didn't eat at hotel in evening. Quite a long walk to get to casino square, but that's part of the fun, there are of course taxis for the less able. Overall a lovely stay.
