What a fabulous hotel.. Can't see how anyone would ever give Lough Rynn Castle a miserable 3 stars..It is definitely 5 stars plus. I had found this wonderful place 7 years ago for my 50th birthday..my husband and I stayed on Tuesday 15th Oct for 1 night B&B.. From the welcome to the beautiful room we were allocated (109) overlooking the shimmering lake to the marvelous gardens we loved every moment... The room was recently refurbished with luxurious fabrics, the bathroom curtains were fabulous.. A welcome plate with delicious fresh macaroons and yummy chocolates awaited us.. Our bed was turned down for us ..what a treat. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast was served in the Sandstone restaurant, which was served efficiently and excellent food quality. Well done Lough Rynn..I can't wait to return. Thank you so much. Gillian Rowland
We had afternoon tea as a treat with my parents. The service was excellent as always and the sandwiches and cakes were delicious with the exception of the scones which were disappointing. I would see these as the main feature of an afternoon tea but they did not taste fresh or homemade and were actually very chewy. They were more like a pack from Tescos. At €22 a head I would expect fresh scones. The rest however was lovely.
We recently held a family birthday dinner in the Sandstone Restaurant. From service to food, it was simply excellent. Great value for money too at 49 per head for a 4 course meal and excellent choices on menu too. All staff were polite and the head waiter was especially attentive and courteous and played along with my young nephews who love judging food after watching My Kitchen Rules. This together with bringing out homemade chocolates and macaroons was a nice touch to a special evening. Definitely want to come back and will recommend this place to anybody who asks.
We stayed for one night while passing through the area. We booked last minute and received a beautiful room and delicious evening meal. Lovely room at the top of the castle, with a fab view and the walk around the grounds was delightful.
This was the most amazing experience, to stay in a castle and be treated special by the wonderful staff. Breakfast was amazing and lots of variety, the rooms are spacious and the grounds are well maintained with lots of color.
My Husband and I stayed in the Lough Rynn Castle on 23rd and 24th Sept for a significant birthday celebration. We had a great experience, the staff are first class, the food is 5 star and the grounds are beautiful . A special mention to Krishna who was so knowledgeable (without being overbearing) in relation to the wine list. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing break with excellent food and friendly professional staff. We hope to revisit it ourselves in the future.
We have stayed here on several occasions and always look forward to returning. This 2 night stay was brilliant as usual. Our room in the Eastern range building was so comfortable and the main castle building is only a few minutes walk away. Breakfast is just great especially with dedicated staff such as Tracy looking after us. The grounds and walled gardens are magnificent. I was happy to see the old boathouse has been restored. It’s a sign of the times that the fantastic walled garden is now accessed only by a key code pad but apparently it was being damaged by less caring visitors. I’m so glad we had a meal in the beautiful Sandstone Restaurant such amazing food and attentive staff. Wonderful. Thanks again to all concerned for another perfect stay at this unique place. Keep up the high standards. Looking forward to another stay, hopefully longer next time, soon.
Tremendous hotel with beautiful public areas, delicious food and excellent bedrooms.Special thanks to Tracy in the restaurant and Daniel, one of the managers for their excellent customer service. Only negative is if there is a wedding chose a room further from the wedding annex.
I live locally to this Hotel have had a lot of meals here with my family the hotel is lovely when we did stay over the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms is of the very best the staff are pleasant we find the food up and down in quality, maybe they have a job share with the chefs? but the breakfasts are always excellent , the cold buffet selection the special touch of being able to order your cooked breakfast with your waiter is lovely and I have never had a cold or dried out breakfast here, the eggs I ask for poached spot on I recently went with my Daughter and a visitor who was keen to visit the hotel we had told him about the lovely grounds you can walk around, we had a bar meal which I am afraid maybe not "The Chef" had prepared was very average I had beer battered cod and the cod was grey in color, dried up cool mushy peas and five chips , they were chunky chips but come on five? I asked for more and they did bring five more to us to share. Now we had planned to show our guest the lovely walled garden, we got to the gate and found it locked shut with a code button by the side of it, another guest kindly told us that we had to pay three euros at the reception to get the code so that we could enter the garden! I am assuming that the hotel must be in money difficulties of some sort , but with the prices they do charge I greatly think not after all. I think any tourist which this Hotel is trying to draw in would be shocked to have to pay 3 Euros to walk around the grounds.
We stayed for two nights last week, myself, husband and my parents. Beautiful hotel, very relaxed ambience, charming staff, well appointed rooms with really comfy beds. Superb meal in the Sandstone restaurant. The grounds are simply beautiful and a disappointment for me was that my restricted-mobility mother wasn't going to be able to walk to them - but Francis came to the rescue with the hotel buggy and gave us a really interesting historic your of the grounds and gardens to boot. He was warm and informative and it was such a treat - above and beyond. Thanks Francis and Lough Rynn!
