Visited hotels on my way from Scotland to England. Although the restaurant is closed for winter month, my husband and I were approach by the appropriator of the hotel who invited us in, served cups of tea and provide information about good quality fish and chips and.... provided plates and cutlery for our take away to consume in the bar! Not often you come across this kind of service. Definitely recommended and we will visit the place again in the very near future.

What a fabulous hotel. Nothing was to much trouble for the very welcoming , and genuine hosts. The lounge and bar area remains unspoilt and true to its original spec. Comfy bed and fantastic shower. Full Scottish breakfast is a must. Looked after our doggy Colin as well. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. What an outstanding find.

Fantastic Food, friendly and helpful staff. Well situated to visit the main cities and local areas. Some local lovely walks. I couldn't thank Dave, Clint and Polly enough for their help and generosity in our time of need. Will definitely be returning in the new year.

Very welcoming staff and lovely home cooked food. Great place to leave a bike safely locked up. Dave the owner couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. We are definitely booking for some days next year so we can go Ebiking in the area. Dave has already printed off a great plan that will keep us happy for several days.

Stayed last week for 3 night biker break and all boxes were ticked , off road bike storage , warm clean rooms with plenty of hot water for showers , good food and drink topped off with excellent personable and helpful staff. Dave the owner will sort you a daily run out and programme it into your sat nav after he's checked the weather to give you as dry a day as he can . This is the place to stay when trying to organise your biker trip, the roads round this area are a fantastic mix and you'll not be disappointed , instead of just driving through to the highlands give the Borders a try. As a bonus the hotel buys a lottery ticket every day and if it wins you get a share of the winnings.

We stayed for a stop over on the way to the Highlands. The receptionist / waitress was very friendly. The pub loves dogs and they certainly made our Labrador feel very welcome with a sausage for breakfast! Room was fine. Slightly noisy outside but it was Saturday night 😁. Food was exceptional. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return if in the area.

Family dinner here on a Friday evening. Warm and welcoming so that was a good start. Two of us ordered the kilted chicken which had a 20 minute wait - another good sign. Chicken tender and moist. Hotpot also very good although it certainly was hot! Creme brûlée and sticky toffee pud both excellent. Pretty good value too - not the cheapest in town but maybe you pay for what you get.

Great location for touring in the Scottish Borders whether on a Bicycle, motorcycle or in a car. Great facilities inside the hotel and out. Very friendly management and staff, all knowledgeable about the local area. Dave (the boss) extremely helpful with an extensive knowledge of Routes, Roads and trails to help you see and experience some stunning vues and roads. This hotel sports off street motorcycle parking with some garages available. Dave also makes available a well stocked cupboard containing washing kit and other stuff to keep your bike and kit in tip top condition while on the road, (riding kit drying facilities are also available). The food here is excellent starting the day with a good old fried "Scottish" breakfast, the hotel also has a well stocked bar with good beer, fine wine and a really good selection of whiskeys. What more could I ask for when touring on my Triumph motorcycle.

I recently had an evening meal here and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had me little Cavalier Charlie with me and both if ys were made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely so was the service and they even did a scoop of ice cream for Charlie. Recommend this place for food service and dogs 😊🐕

The Hotel is very historic, the rooms are very clean and very comfortable. The hotel is Biker friendly and the facilities available for bikers is second to none including Bike garages for a very small deposit. The food is amazing. We stayed there for a small private wedding at the nearby Auchen Castle and were treated like royalty. Dave (the owner) and his Son couldn't do enough for us and Sophie is a little Gem. We will certainly return but next time on my Bike. Thanks to all.
