Stale smell of damp in the whole hotel and so strong in our room it woke me up in the night. There is a carpet everywhere, which is worn-out and dirty in the stairs. Last, it looks like a cavern when you come in as the place is only lit by small fake candels. The room and bath room are also hardly lit. A very bad experience !

This was a find! Perfect room with plenty of space and tastefully decorated. Very clean and no noise at night. Bathroom was clean and bright and just perfect for 2 people for two nights. We had a window but no view but we weren’t in the room long enough to look out! A fantastic eating and drinking scene right on the doorstep of the hotel. Clearly an up and coming area for cuisine.

Just back from one night stop off at this lovely hotel...its warm, friendly and has quirky interior design touches! Location is excellent - you can walk to everything and the reception staff are so friendly and helpful - they cannot do enough and Luca was great even on the email before we arrived! We stayed for one night and tried to stay another but they were fully booked! Looking forward to staying here again next year!

Fantastic location, in the middle of the old town, parking house next door and rooms are clean, roomy and the ac works well. The staff is really superb, we felt at home and they made a beautiful and delicious breakfast. Very thing perfect. The only minor thing would be the bathroom, it’s a bit outdated but it works very well.

The staff at cervetta 5 was attentive and wanted to do whatever it took to maintain a high rating. The room was fine, probably a little better than your average small hotel in Europe. Same with breakfast. We were happy with our choice.

We needed a place to stay for the night as we were in town to dine at Osteria Francescana. This place is perfect as it’s less than a five minute walk. You’re super close to the church and square nearby with plenty to see within walking distance. The hotel itself is fine - nothing spectacular except for the staff! Everyone was so kind and friendly to us, even helping us call a doctor when my girlfriend was ill and needed an antibiotic. If we find ourselves in Modena again we would definitely consider staying here!

Modena is a small cute town and Hotel Cervetta 5 is a cute hotel smack off a side street in the middle of town. Just 5 minutes from several piazzas (including the huge one which has an antique fair on weekends) so walking in and around town was really easy. What we liked: - convenience - great location in Modena - good sized rooms - 2 full suitcases was not an issue at all - rooms were cozy and nicely done up - a lot of little touches in the room design (as one user called it 'antique theme) which made the room really pleasant - host Luca and his team were friendly and always available - secure parking garage available (best to contact the hotel in advance) - good spread of breakfast (breads, pastries, yoghurt, hams, cheese etc) laid out 'buffet style'. The eating area is small and there may be times when the tables are full but from what we saw, guests generally do not 'hog' the tables after they are done with breakfast A couple of small niggly issues: - the air-conditioner gave off a musky smell when the hotel staff turned it on after housekeeping was done - we thought that it was a one-off but it gave off a similar smell when we turned it on for ventilation - my friends had a room with a balcony overlooking the small lane - was told that it could get a tad noisy from vehicles and patrons (from the restaurant next door). I had a room towards the rear and it was nice and quiet. - no elevator - this is usual in Italy but I think visitors should take note - bathroom did not really have proper hanging areas to dry the bath towels so the towels would not dry in time - maybe one might have to use the hanging area in the bedroom? A small comment on Modena: - must try the home made cookies and pastries at Antica Pasticceria San Biagio - gelato at Emilia Cremeria was the best we had during our trip (and we had a lot, including the one ranked 'worlds best' at San G) - great pizzas at Erasmo All in all, a nice quaint hotel in the middle of Modena.

There are lots of adjetives I could use to summarize this hotel but to be kind I will keep it to "minimal and basic". I believe that is what the owners are striving for and have succeeded but unfortunately at the expense, and most certainly, comfort of their guests. Our room was adequate at best. The carpet is quite disgusting throughout, especially in the hallways and stairs but they provide complimentary slippers so I guess that makes it acceptable. The bathroom is a joke. The lighting is so poor if you don't crack your head open on the hanging antique fixture over the sink, then you'll trip on the step up going in. Everything has the "antique" theme so the mirrors are scratched up so much they're hardly worth trying to use. There are no towels racks, just a single hook on the wall in the shower, no toilet paper holder, no place to put your toiletries or hang anything to dry. They want you to be eco friendly and reuse your towels but once they're wet, you have nowhere to dry them. There is no elevator/lift in the place and you have to hike up several flights of stairs with your luggage. Wifi was good and bad. We had two devices that could connect and two more that could not...very frustrating. Breakfast was organized chaos to say the least. The little room had seating for 10 people. If you weren't lucky enough to score a table, then you had to wait and watch others who probably felt guilty taking up the space. There is a huge sofa in the breakfast room that could easily be replaced by three or more tables but again, it's the minimalist look that they seem to be striving for rather than the comfort of the guest. I do have to commend the women who worked extremely hard to serve the hungry breakfast clients. They did a terrific job in a very tiny space, hence the "organized chaos". Quite simply put, this hotel is in a terrific location in the heart of Modena and that is pretty much what you are paying for.

Location is super, very central: ideal place to start your visit. Parking is made easy as the hotel grants you free access to the traffic restricted zone (still not easy to find one, but you can get in front of the hotel to offload the car). Rooms are nice, even if a bit small. Staff was very kind. Suggestion: please change the room doors :) they are really not in style with the rest of the building

I cannot rate this little hotel highly enough.Fantastic customer service, beautiful bedroom and bathroom, delicious breakfast and unbeatable location. There can't be anywhere better to stay in beautiful Modena!
