Chalet Le Moulin is perfectly located high up the mountain on the way to the high up ski resorts of Praz de Lys - Sommand (main lift starts 1500m). Here the snow is crispy and deep. The chalet is exclusively situated to enjoy stunning views over the valley to the mountain tops and has all the serenity you could ever wish for! Our village resort is truly family friendly, offering a delightful 60km of high snow runs linked by 24 lifts over mountains and passes to the resort Praz de Lys, and is suitable for all ski abilities. It is renowned by local French and Swiss for its Alpine beauty, including the majestic tall pine forests and spectacular open mountain tops across from the Grand Massif of Mont Blanc. Here you can avoid the crowds and clamour of the neighbouring resorts on either side, Les-Gets/Morzine and Samoens/Flaine, or decide to try them out. The choice is yours!

In the summer, you can walk from the chalet door. There are hiking trails across the mountains with spectacular views, gushing streams and cliff caves. You can walk past timeless Alpine Chalet farms that are still making reblouchon cheese and in late spring alpine meadows are crammed with flowers.

Village Ski Resort with aclose by even bigger choice:
The chalet sits high above the village of Mieussy on the way its own ski resort of Praz de Lys - Sommand. Its just a few minutes drive further to park next to chair lifts that start at a high altitude of 1510m. Here the snow is already crisp and pillowy with soaring pine forests and open meadows. Next to the lifts are nursery slopes for beginers and ski schools and also lots of cross country trails. This magnificent setting make the resort a special place much sought after by cross country and back country skiers as well as families who require skiing at all levels. Its natural Alpine beauty at its best - unspoilt.

Our village of Mieussy lies in the famous Samoens/Les Gets valley, the chalet is a 14 minutes drive up to Sommand and Praz de Lys. But equally the chalet door is less than 20 minutes drive from the chairlifts of the famous ski villages of Morillion/Samoens and Les Get/Morzine. All 4 villages link up with many other resorts and its possible to ski all day and right over into Switzerland, without backtracking. Its so big you will never get round it all !

But it's not all about the skiing. Chalet Le Moulin is also somewhere to enjoy time with your family and friends.

Also you may explore the local winter markets and family events in the surrounding villages. For more sophisticated glamour, it is a just a short trip to either the bright lights of Geneva or the lakeside magic of Annecy (our favourite away day from the ski slopes)

This property is located in the heart of the French Alps and has a country feel even though it is only minutes from town. If you enjoy quiet and comfort this is an awesome chalet. We also did one hour day trips to Annecy, Yvoire, and Chamonix. Thank you for sharing your home!

Stunning views

Lovely homely chalet with absolutely amazing views. Very well equipped. Great walks nearby. Few things a bit dated but the chalet has a lovely warm feel to it. The host was very helpful, answering our queries quickly and clearly had fantastic knowledge of the local area. Please note the hot tub is wood fired so takes a long time to warm up, so you do need to be around all day to get it warmed up which for us wasn't practical as we spent our days out exploring,

Lovely location during summer/winter

We had a lovely time in the chalet even without any snow. The size was great for a 8 person party and the view from the balcony incredible. Some upgrades to the appliances are necessary, the dishwasher was broken, sink clogged and not enough glasses/plates so we had to do a lot of hand washing. Also the floors were creaking a lot(I know an old chalet) so difficult to sleep if anyone wanted to go ul and down the stairs. Overall a good experience

Fantastic place to spend your holiday

Traditional chalet with beautiful view over mountains and valley. It is not just a holiday home but you step in a wel cared and beloved home. Nothing better than sitting on the terrace/balcony and enjoy the view, watching the birds and squirrels. The chalet itself is well equiped with everything you could need. You find all the information you need on the village, things to do and to visit.

A home from home with bells and whistles!

Charming chalet with fantastic views! The chalet has everything you need with a hot tub, hammocks, well equipped kitchen, outdoor pizza oven... Lovely walks from your door into the forests and mountains, not all long, not all steep! We were a family group of 5 adults and had a wonderful time relaxing in this idyllic spot.

We had an AMAZING stay in chalet le Moulin. It is the most cosy chalet we ever stayed. It had a stunning view of the giffre valley and all amenities! There even passes a fox by every evening, just to point out what kind af natural environment it is!

Charming chalet made with hearts!

We were about to launch a contest amongst us, to count how many hearts (decorations) there were in the chalet. Not possible as they were hidden discreetly everywhere, and up to the last day, we were still discovering new hearts! The chalet is truly a labor of love from the owners, and lots of thoughts and care were put in to it. Coming from the cities, we were awestruck by the beautiful nature and peaceful paysage around us (needless to say many fabulous outdoor activities can be done all seasons), as well as the tasty fresh water directly from the taps! Starting the hot-tub took some skills and time, but it was sooooo worth it to have a mid-night bath under the clear skies (5 of us took the bath together:-))) !! Sadly, the weather was a bit unstable during our stay, but we were able to cook up many good foods from their very well equipped kitchen, and watched some good videos with their excellent Wifi. The chalet can host 8 adults comfortably and the pictures shown here reflect the truth. We were all grateful to have spent few days in this cozy chalet, and look forward to our next visit. Thank You to Nigel & Irene for sharing their little paradise with us!

Serenely peaceful and beautiful after being in lockdown in the city so long. Lots of mountain walks, snow and sledging, and the chalet has everything you could wish for. We will miss the log fire.

Rustig gelegen chalet met een magnifiek uitzicht

We waren de eerste gasten na opening van de grenzen op 15 juni 2020 (na lockdown). We hebben erg genoten van ons verblijf in alle rust. De chalet en tuin bieden een fantastisch uitzicht. Mooie maar zware wandelingen gemaakt met vaak prachtige vergezichten. Ook de hond heeft genoten van de overweldigende natuur. Wat voor ons wel ontbrak in de chalet was airco, zeker in een chalet voor dit budget. Het werd op zeker ogenblik erg warm en dat was duidelijk te voelen binnenin. Verder: topverblijf! En supervriendelijke en uiterst beschikbare eigenaar!

Chalet le Moulin exceeded our expectations. The views are simply amazing and ever changing with the weather. The chalet is huge and beautifully presented. Everywhere you look there is something quirky that catches your eye. We cooked at the chalet every night and there is all the kitchen equipment you would ever need. The WIFI is super fast and my boys enjoyed the big TV on the mezzanine. The skiing both at Sommand and Praz de lys is perfect for my beginners but there is plenty of interesting stuff for those who need more of a challenge. We would love to stay again!!!

We had a fantastic time Nigel could not of been more helpful. Lots of walks and sledding. We saw in the new year in the hot tub watching the fireworks in the valley. We were totally relaxed by the time we left for home.

Just as fabulous second time round

This was our second visit to Chalet le Moulin in Mieussy and I hope it won’t be our last! We love the house and the surrounding area and enjoyed some of our favourite walks from our last visit plus the new ones we tried. There is a lot to do in this area and the house is a great base and the perfect place to relax and enjoy stunning views of the mountains. Highly recommended!

Fabulous

Absolutely fabulous holiday and superb chalet. It is in a wonderful peaceful, rural location a bit away from the town but in easy reach with stunning views of the mountains. The chalet is very well equipped with everything one could need and it was excellent to have so many guide books, walking maps and local information, as well as personal information about walks from the chalet and favourite routes all so well described. First class communication and contact at all times, the information prior to arrival was faultless and so helpful. The walks are second to none around the area and there are flowers in profusion - I have never seen so many or so many species. Very special indeed. I cannot recommend this wonderful chalet highly enough for a peaceful break if you like the mountains and walking in summer. And thank you so much for allowing dogs - what a treat to be able to find somewhere dog-friendly. A big plus. Thank you so much Nigel and Irene, what a special place for a most relaxing break.

The views are absolutely stunning, the house is full of char and great location from skiing resorts.

Stunning location with views you just can’t get bored of! The house is full of character and slept two families of 4 in comfort. Lots of quirky bits like the log fired hot tub, pizza ovens and tree house. We skied from Somand which is a nice family friendly area about ten mins straight up the hill. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend. The only reason I’d say don’t book is that it doesn’t get booked up next time we want to come!

Gorgeous chalet in peaceful rural retreat, we needed our snow chains this week though in the swathes of snow! Log fire, cost evenings after days out on the slopes - a terrific holiday place and plenty of information given by the owner.
