BEWARE! THIEVES! Our spare wallet was stolen from our backpack, that was packed away deeply in the room. The wallet contained some money and some credit cards. The worst part of our loss was they also stole our permanent residency cards which will be very difficult to replace. The hotel did not have the room safe open when we arrived and I was foolish enough not to take the extra step to have the staff open the safe the next day (my fault... but we were busy and too trusting). I heard from the staff that robberies have happened here before and that management needed to fire several employees. It looks like they will have to go down the same path to prevent future problems. DO NOT STAY HERE. We also had some minor issues with the hot water and a boiler that kept firing all night long that kept us up but those problems were actively worked and resolved during our stay.

We are sorry this unfortunate event happened to you during your visit to Mexico City and saddened that you are under the impression it happened here. It’s unfortunate that you chose not to use the safety deposit box in your room. We insist guests use their private safe for peace of mind. I realize how jarring it must be to find your wallet missing. That said, you checked in on Tuesday and did not inform us of the missing items until Saturday. We were surprised again when you did not want us to accompany you to file a police report. During any trip one visits various shops, restaurants, museums, cabs, and city streets; as such, we are not responsible for personal items. We are located in one of the most secure neighborhoods in Mexico City and provide each safe as a courtesy. This incident is the first time we hear of anything going missing at our place (with or without use of the safe). Our staff is our family and has been with us from the very beginning and we trust them completely. While we are glad the minor problems were quickly resolved during your stay, we wish your overall experience matched the excitement and effort we put into your stay. Our guests are our livelihood and when they are affected, we are affected.
