Great family getaway

This is an excellent house for a family stay, in either summer or winter. The views of the Delatite River escarpment are marvellous and the pool was a wonderful benefit on the hot days.Close enough to Mansfield for a bit of shopping therapy as going out for a meal.

Perfect setting for our family. Pool heated well, comfy beds and the creek at the bottom of the property was perfect for morning walks and reflection.Thanks Hil Jack's.We'll be back for sure

We were really disappointed with our stay. While the view from the property was beautiful and the heating worked well, unfortunately that was where the positives ended.The property was not clean on arrival. Every dish we took out of the cupboards was dirty, so we had to wash everything before we could use it.Communication with the host was extremely poor. Responses would take several days, and on the day of check-in we had to make three phone calls before finally reaching someone to obtain the property’s address and check-in details. This created unnecessary stress at the start of our holiday.One of the bedrooms, located near the kitchen, had constant scratching and scurrying noises in the walls that sounded like rats. It was loud enough that our children were unable to sleep in that room.The driveway was another major issue. It is incredibly steep, and there was no mention in the listing that guests are unable to drive down to the property. We had to leave our car at the top and carry our luggage and children down a muddy gravel driveway, which was difficult and unsafe. This should be clearly disclosed in the advertisement so guests know what to expect.To make matters worse, the outside bins were already completely full when we arrived, leaving us with nowhere to dispose of our rubbish during our stay.

We had a lovely weekend with a few families. Kids loved the bunk room and the cottage was very cosy with the fire. The location by the river an close to Buller were exactly what we were after. Check-in went smoothly and we were able to get help easily when the gas for the hot water ran out. The problem was solved promptly.
