firstly I would like too say thank you for the lovely room this was my 4th visit and sadly my last the new décor the old dining room is now a posh coffee shop that serves cold food I was 1year old last time i sat in a high chair and for some reason now I like a decent glass of wine at a decent table and chair the wine was decent it was lovely too a couple of old faces the man age was something else maybe sent him on a course next year and to top it all no rep in hotel or resort shame on you Thomas cook so now I have too look for a new tour company and once again a new hotel unless something changes but cant see that happening seems there don't want loyal customers
This is such a relaxing place to stay! There was a good choice of food for breakfast and the freshly made omelettes were lovely. It was my husband’s 40th birthday while we were there, we hadn’t said anything to the staff but the hotel sent some cake up to our room with a birthday greeting, which was really thoughtful and appreciated. It was so nice to have a walk along the sea front as the sun was setting. It is very quiet, but this was exactly what we were after having had a hectic year so it was perfect for us. The staff were very friendly and we really did completely switch off and relax! The only problem was that our week there went far too quickly 😊
Had a very relaxing time at a great hotel in a wonderful location! Beautiful island and generous and friendly people who spoke excellent English and I am ashamed to say my Spanish is very bad. Thank you Menorca and Santo Tomas in particular. Great restaurant at C'an Berto - steak on a stone! Not to be missed!
We have Returned from Sol Beach House just over a week ago. It is very sad to say we will not be returning after many wonderful holidays there. We're do I start the food for evening meal was awful no choice the grill experience was fish burgers bits of pork tiny lamb chops and chips and chips and chips. Breakfast was ok. The seating was geared at much younger people., as our holiday was going by they were taken tables away as they were winding down awful. The entertainment was shocking. The quality manager was very rude to me, when I was explaining about the food and we were having to eat out . The view from our room was lovely. The reception were very very helpful. But very sad to say will not be returning to the hotel.
Arrived late and Receotionist said there was fruit & cheese in our room. Good start, nice touch. Superior room with gorgeous sea views and very comfortable. Loved the decor and 'spar' feeling to the place. Our first visit to the island. Really impressed with staff, variety of food and grounds. Although offered, no Yoga or Pilates as hotel closing following week so fewer guests. Bus stop outside to 2 major towns taking about 50 mins. Few shops, supermarket close by. Very relaxing. Loved it!
We stayed at this hotel two weeks ago, this being our third visit. Unfortunately it will also be our last. Whilst we loved the new look Restaurant, being far more spacious and relaxed than before, the one thing that had certainly not improved was the food which, ironically, was the one thing that needed addressing seriously. We weren't expecting great things food-wise from our previous experiences but were willing to overlook this as we like so much else about the hotel, mainly it's enviable position right on the water's edge and the relaxed atmosphere and dress code. However this time the food had spiralled from fair at best to absolutely dire. Neither of us could be described as "fussy" eaters but there were several evenings when one or both of us really struggled to find something we liked. Some of the meat being cooked at the Chefs' station was inedible as it was so tough and so full of gristle, which in no way reflected upon the professionalism of the Chefs, purely the diabolical standard of the meat itself. We feel the Hotel has lost it's heart. Previously the staff were all so friendly and helpful but even that has gone now. There are notable exceptions to this as, thank goodness, Alberto is still on Reception and always goes the extra mile. Also, thankfully, Sylvia is still in the Restaurant, which is just as well as most of the other Restaurant staff just wander about aimlessly. THE "final nail in the coffin" as far as we are concerned is the fact that we received a note addressed to "Mr and Ms", which, when considering we are a same sex couple and have been so for twenty seven years, is not only an insult but extremely offensive. So who, may you ask, did this note come from? None other than the Customer Experience person, Maria, which makes it all the more ironic, as all she had to do was check their records properly as she would have discovered that therein lie both our names as taken by Reception from our passports. When we challenged her regarding this glaring error all we got was an insincere "Sorry sorry" but then did absolutely nothing to actually address the problem. This was the straw that broke this camel's back because if we had received something like a bottle of Cava delivered to our room or even a free drink in the bar it would have meant something to us and would have been appreciated despite the insult. However nothing was forthcoming and this is the main reason we will not be returning. It is so sad, we thought at one time we would be returning here for many years, but never again.
Visited hotel over many years, however, first visit since changes to dining area etc. Despite comments from many regulars, we did warm to new restaurant set up. Created a more spacious environment, ie no one pushing through between tables. Food generally better than expected. A couple of issues re cold breakfast and inedible beef in stew - staff reported back and indeed the chef got involved with 'beefgate'. Quality of fish definitely improved. Many staff changes since last visit,, sadly the wonderful Rafa and Francisco have retired. Fortunately, the holel has retained the services of Jose, always smiling and laughing. This has resulted in new staff and whilst the waitresses worked hard and engaged with customers , the same couldn't be said for many of waiters who where somewhat aloof and couldn't even say 'gracious' when removing plates - they could certainly learn about customer service standards from Jose.
This was our fourth visit to this Hotel and compared to last year, after so-called "improvements" it has gone downhill. The range and quality of the food was nowhere near as good as last year. The new Dining Room has six "Serving Stations" which are dark and dingy and you cannot easily see the food that is being presented: the dishes have covered lids but there is nowhere to "park" the lids whilst you take food from them. There is a new Verandah that is so badly engineered that if you choose a table there, it is like eating on a trampoline, the floor is so springy ! The entertainment in the evenings is very mixed: the Hotel boasts a new policy of "style" - but what good is style if there is no substance? So only about 20 persons attended the evening performances and even if the performers were good, the atmosphere was poor because there was such a tiny audience. Also, since last year, staffing levels have gone down so that service was affected: we sometimes had to wait for 10 minutes for our first course plates to be cleared. And to have to stand outside the kitchen door for 10 minutes to ASK for a portion of ice cream was simply ridiculous, but that is what we had to do ! What was wrong with the freezer cabinet they placed by the desert counter in previous years? So, sadly, this year Sol Beach House let itself down badly, to the point where we may well have to go elsewhere next year: very sad ! And all because a new Management wants to change its style. It was a lovely hotel until this year and, as I said above, if it is not broken, don't try to fix it !!!
Hotel is superb, right on the beach as per photos. Food and selection is excellent. Santo Tomas is a small quiet village with not a lot going on but extremely relaxing. Supermarket prices for reasonable wine £4 per bottle. Bar prices pint of beer E3, glass of wine E2. Very enjoyable.
Should have a four rating as food . Staff are lovely . Staff are always there to help you with a smile and felt sorry for them sometimes as they were treated rudely from fellow holidays makers . Rooms are small but as there was only two of us it didn't matter . The beach is nice and enjoyed swimming in the sea . Nice walks along the beach . Would return if I just wanted a relaxing holiday
