This hotel is superb. My wife & I have been back there for the last 7 years and it never fails to deliver a great holiday experience. Rooms & the hotel generally kept immaculately clean. Since the hotel re-styling & room upgrade a few years ago the room facilities are top notch. Public areas & restaurants very stylish. Staff very knowledgeable, generally fluent in several languages, plus very friendly & helpful. Hotel has a perfect location directly behind the Cala Galdana beach so views from the seafront rooms & restaurant over the picture perfect bay are stunning. Access to beach (which is just 25 metres away from the hotel rear entrance) is down some steps or a steep(ish) slope - which is about the only slight negative - but just for those who have any sort of mobility problem. Beach looked after very well & kept very clean. TIP: The official sunloungers & umbrellas are pretty expensive to hire {sunlounger €5, umbrella €7, per day when we were there} - so good cost saving is to buy beach umbrella in one of the gift shops in town {about €15-20 for a good one} and inflatable sunloungers to lie on {€10-€15} - which you can use day in day out. So after a couple of days you're saving money! Very nice beach bars located at the back of the beach & high quality restaurants in the town if you fancy dining out. Good fun crazy golf in the town about 300m away.

We stayed in a Kids and Co room with our little 2 year old. Great room - plenty of space for us all, with two shower rooms, space for clothes and a balcony looking out to the amazing bay. The hotel was spotless - the cleaning team do an amazing job. Lovely delicious breakfast with a lot of choice - fruits, yoghurts, omlettes made to order, pancakes, cereals, cooked breakfast - you name it! The location was perfect for us - down the (steep) slope to the beach and the sea is shallow, warm and clean. Some lovely restaurants dotted around, which all served delicious food with lots of choice. There was music and some entertainment in the evenings but nothing too crazy! We couldn't hear it from our room (635) when we weren't down at the bar. Nice touches include the turndown service with a choccie on your bed, and milkshake and Oreo biscuits for our little one :-) The only down sides are no bath in our room - we had two showers and for our little girl a bath would have been preferred. Also the slope down to the beach is Really steep. We managed it with the buggy but others might struggle. We would most certainly return - which isn't something we would ordinarily do - but it was convenient to get to, beautifully kept and equipped and in an amazing spot. We loved it at Melia Cala Galdana!

We stayed here in June 2017 and stayed in a very large family room and used the Level. Tomas is the guest experience manager and he is a fantastic guy, and makes sure all the guests have a great stay here, This is are second year we have stayed here, Rooms - perfect same as last year Pool - perfect and more improvements from last year including walk through from reception and two juccuzi although these will get dirty thoughtout the day I guess because of sun cream so I'm guessing not really a good idea although they look attractive from a distance. Italian restaurant - better run than last year, Cafe nao downstairs restaurant - I'm not keen on this I'm afraid, not really much English spoken here either and not much English on menus, and I didn't enjoy my meal here, my wife's meal was nice. Buffet - was very very good, and great setting. Outstanding. The Level - breakfast is painfully slow I am afraid, it taken us on average 37 minutes wait each Morning for breakfast after ordering. Level Drinks - all very good at all times, Level reception staff - excellent Level waiting staff for breakfast and afternoon snacks. Very good. But another Wait ever morning 7 minutes for ketchup, I must remember to order this when I order My Breakfast. Wifi - excellent Sea views - excellent, The best. Air con rooms - excellent Beach and sea, was very clear water 3 days and snorkelling was the very best, cloudy water one day as stronger currents from sea, This is the very safest sea I've been to ever for kids it's lovely and warm too. Pedlos on beach - great fun Kids club, didn't try it Level pool didn't try as no kids aloud Gym - is brand new and excellent, I used it everyday. Uk TV channels ITV ITV2 and ITV4 all Good. I like this hotel a lot and think it's perfect for a 4 day or 5 day holiday. I will return back here for another holiday in 2018. Thank you Tomas and your amazing team.

We stayed here for 1 week with two kids aged 2 and 4, in a family room overlooking the beach and sea. This hotel surpassed my expectations, a modern, elegant chic grown up hotel that caters brilliantly for families. So it's not a usual Thomas Cook / Thomson all inclusive resort, it's not really a resort as such, it's a hotel - so yes although it's by the beach it doesn't own beachfront so loungers are not free, they are owned by someone else and are charged at €19 for two loungers and parasol for the day, closing at 6pm. The hotel itself is upside down, reception is at the top and the beach at the bottom, it's built along a cliff face. The reception is large, with seating areas, a bank of computers for common use, reception desk and concierge just behind. There is a bar, and the two restaurants are on this level too. More on those later. Views from the bar area across the bay are spectacular though. Hotel staff were super friendly - I'd recommend signing up to Melia rewards before coming as they offer online check in and priority check in on arrival too which is nice. I think we also get an Amazon voucher after our stay given the cost as well which is in effect cash back so that's good. The room we had was in the 7th floor, and yes the corridors are long but not that long, and given the way the hotel is built you are effectively walking along the cliff front as you walk along the corridors. Now the room itself - a family room is what I booked. The website suffers from a serious lack of info on what this really is, a floor plan or something. And try as I might before arriving I couldn't find anything - well I needn't have worried. The room opens into a lounge area with sofa bed made up for my 4 y/o as a single bed, along the wall so it doesn't jut out into the room - then along the corridor is the kids bathroom (!!) all kitted out with kids toiletries, my daughter even got her own keepsake dolphin pillow and there was a rubber duck in the bathroom too. Further along was the luggage area, but there is so much space that we used this for my sons cot actually which worked well. Then a door, closing off the kids section from the adults! Amazing. We aren't ones for adjoining rooms as firstly it costs a lot for two rooms but also we don't like an independent entrance - so it was nice to have a single entrance but be able to close the door once kids asleep and watch tv, have lights on, shower, read, have a cocktail etc without waking them. The only downside is that the kids are by the entrance, but that's not something you can really solve given the hotel aspect. Anyway on the other side of the door is the adults room, huge double bed, another bathroom and the balcony with a view to die for! Adults bathroom fully stocked with everything you'd need and I mean everything, you could if you wanted to leave the toiletry bag at home. The only niggle here was no bath, both bathrooms have walk in showers. Not great for the baby, but we worked with it. Also walk in showers mean very wet floors with the kids, so be careful of slips and falls. The kids bathroom had a step to reach the sink which was great, but could definitely do with a shower mat to prevent shower slips! Other than that, room was great. Made up by the maids twice daily with a turndown service, chocs for us and choc milk for the kids. Can't work out if this is an addition as a rewards member or not, as the chocolate they leave alludes to the fact it is, but it's another reason to sign up, and it's free so why not. The room has a safe and fridge / mini bar, kettle and tea coffee, complimentary water, wardrobes and drawer space. As a family of four we didn't feel cramped. The pool is by the entrance but contrary the other reviews, it isn't in the parking lot, nor does it have a view as such, it's at the side of the hotel, with plenty of loungers, a main pool, two Jacuzzis and a baby pool tiered over three levels. Whenever we went there were always loungers, loungers aren't allowed to be nor did we see any being hoarded or reserved and a lounger around the main pool whenever we were there was never an issue. Pool is large enough for what we needed and kids loved it. Baby pool is shallow and warm but needs more shade. Another minor issue over come easily by shifting some parasols to the edge to provide shade. In fact on one occasion we were all sat on one lounger as the kids snacked and the lifeguard on duty disappeared and reappeared with a lounger for us, he made room for it for us too. Very thoughtful. Which touches on the next point - the staff, unbelievably friendly, all of them!! Now the restaurant. We were half board, so breakfast and dinner. Both open buffet style and both amazing. I have stayed in some lovely hotels around the world on business (check my other reviews if you wish) but the sheer quality and diversity on offer is amazing - I'm shocked anyone can fault this. For breakfast there is pretty much everything you'd want or need, from yoghurts to cooked breakfast, fruits to cereals and cakes. Fantastic. And dinner was equally superb with a rotation that meant not once in the week did the same thing crop up. Good quality always phenomenal and a lot freshly cooked on request in front of you. Again a quibble of dinner is absolutely no drinks included not even water which is another small room for improvement and an easy one at that as water is there at breakfast along with all the other fruit juices. The view from the restaurant is amazing. And yes breakfast is a little late for Brits at 8, but this is a Spanish hotel, in Spain, catering for a lot of Spanish, it's not that unusual. The Spanish wake later, eat later, go to bed later. Dinner at 7 is again slightly late for brits but not really for Spanish. For those that want separate adults only dining it seems to be offered by The Level area of the hotel, Melia's upmarket adults only section, but we didn't need that so I can't really review that here. The hotel provides free wifi throughout, not just in the reception which some hotels could take note from, it seems trivial but a lot of hotels still try to charge for wifi! There is also a rather good gym at the hotel. The beach is right out the front as mentioned earlier. The kids club is at the front but is a crèche style drop off which we didn't like, so we didn't use this. All in all I find it hard to fault this hotel, Im surprised it was only 4* honestly. I'd highly recommend for families seeking something more than a package style break - and would definitely return. Numerous couples we spoke to came back year after year and said this was amongst the top hotels on the island, incidentally that's how I found the hotel in the first place, a travel guides top 10 best hotels in menorca. Well deserved here, Melia hotels never disappoint.

Traveled here in late June with my wife for our "babymoon" for 3 days. If thinking about coming to Minorca - I would say this is the best place to stay... great location (situated on the beach, dining options in hotel and outside by the beach), clean hotel. No other hotel in Cala Galdana has a better location. Tips: would pass on the half board - there are a few restaurants in the area as well as one in the hotel that offer better dining options than the buffet dinner that the half board includes. They did vary the selections day-to-day, but the quality was definitely hit-or-miss. You also have to pay for drinks at dinner, so wouldn't do it. We actually went to the Casa Nostra restaurant in the hotel, and it was the best meal of the trip! Breakfast is included and was ok... The beach chairs/umbrella on the beach cost 19euro/day so be ready to pay for that - but the beach/water is why we went so wasn't a big deal. the water and views are incredible. We 'hiked' (20 min) to Cala Mitjana - which I would highly recommend (another beautiful cove). We stayed on the 9th floor and didn't have an issue hearing noise. Would note that the A/C may shut off while you are out of the room, so it does take a while to "cool down" but got the hang of it after the first night. Wifi was free, but spotty at times. To summarize: Great location/beautiful area, but don't expect a 5-star hotel experience..

Very enjoyable week, great facilities and excellent access to the lovely beach. Staff very friendly and helpful. Service on 'The Level' was particularly good, especially the attendants on the exclusive sun deck and infinity pool area.

Family holiday with our two daughters aged 9 months and two years. The hotel and staff were fantastic throughout and couldn't be more helpful. Meal times were sometimes hectic but that was due to the kids and our oldest wanting to go dancing at the kids club ever night!

My wife and I travelled to the hotel on the last leg of our Spanish holiday. We absolutely thrilled that we chose such a fantastic place to end our holiday. We stayed for 3 days in total. The room was amazing. Epic views of Cala Galdana. Great food in the Italian and buffet restaurant. They do charge 20 Euros per day for parking, but there is ample free parking outside the hotel too. The beach is amazing. We rented 2 beach chairs for 20 Euros at the beach, went kayaking (25 Euros for 2 hours) to the nearby beach and also enjoyed the cheap drinks and food downstairs at the beach shacks. There is a super small town nearby where you can play mini-golf and also grab some supplies if you need them. Overall, it was a perfect holiday experience! I would totally visit again.

Wow. It's difficult to be superlative enough. Having left work in the afternoon with a grey departure from Manchester by 20 to 9 local time we appeared to have dropped into Paradise Yes this was a special mini break and we pushed the boat out with a junior suite and the Level service but boy was it worth it Sipping a Menorcan gin and lemon looking at what must be one of the most beautiful bays in the world, weeks of stress dropped away and we hadn't even checked in We had 3 nights and 2 days of heaven. Having worked in travel and hotels for a few decades makes you very picky and critical but we couldn't fault anything The room was gorgeous, the service perfect, breakfast in the Level faultless, the infinity pool amazing. We slept a lot, we swam in the sea a lot, we drank quite a lot of gin as and ate amazing food We even managed to visit Cuidadella and Mahon and fell in love not just with Galdana but with the island as well A week later with 4 days back in the real world behind us it seems like a dream but it is a dream we will 100% return to. Been lucky enough to visit some special places but this was the mini break that beat the lot

Never again. 1. They make you pay for parking. We just parked on the street whilst the parking lot was half empty. 2. The main pool is adjacent to the parking lot and is located at the back of the building with no sea view or any view at all. 3. The kids zone is pretty much on the road, off the hotel grounds 4. The rooms are extremely small, with toilets/showers unbearably small 5. Cheap refurbishment makes it worse - plastic all over and the rooms heat up like hell during the day, becoming stuffy and stinky. 6. Rude staff all over, to say the least. 7. Breakfast opens at 8(!) am which is unheard of for a beach resort. 8. You have to pay for the parasols and beach beds, the hotel could care less for this. 9. Out of their selection of TV channels, I could watch only BBC which didn't work. None of BBC channels worked actually. 10. The food at the breakfast buffet is all processed carbs. If you want a healthier option, you can just go fasting. 11. NEVER AGAIN!
