Wow - this place is magnificent. The accommodation, the food, the pool - everything ! I had wondered if the reviews on Trip Advisor may be too good to be true but honestly this place is as good, if not better than expected. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a duplex suite which was lovely and large, Two storey with Juliet balcony in the main bedroom overlooking the garden and 2 terraces upstairs, front and rear, with sunloungers and patio table and chairs, overlooking both pool and garden. Ideal for our party of adults as it offered more space and privacy than a standard apartment so suited our needs ideally. Despite initially struggling to locate our room due to the strange layout of the hotel complex ( 3 separate blocks on differing levels and poorly signed lifts resulting in an unnecessarily long trek with heavy luggage) we were very impressed. The rooms, as the whole hotel, are kept spotlessly clean. The maids and all staff work incredibly hard but always with a smile. The lovely grounds and gardens are immaculate. Well tended and maintained regularly. The sunbeds and parasols are washed and scrubbed EVERY morning and, unbelievably, there are always vacant sunbeds and umbrellas available at ALL times of the day. Guests here simply do not reserve sunbeds - the first place I have ever been where it is not necessary to get up at the crack of dawn in order to secure a decent deckchair and parasol ! So refreshing and slightly unbelievable !! The pool itself is lovely - large and warm, suitable for all ages - with a lifeguard in attendance. A lovely place to relax. Another nice place to relax is the outside "library" area. A quiet, shady and cool alcove with easy chairs and a bookcase full of books and magazines available for all. We stayed half board although there is also the option to stay bed and breakfast. The food is outstanding - something different everyday and a huge choice. Immaculately presented and a great choice of fruit and vegetables and local produce. The champagne gala night and the Menorcan night ( don't miss the gin sorbet ! ) deserve special praise. Stunning ! This was my first visit to this hotel but certainly will not be the last - I like 90% of the guests will be returning. Magnificent !

If you are after a relaxed, friendly, and conveniently situated holiday in Menorca, this hotel is a great choice as is the Cala n Bosch resort. We can see why guests keep returning. We met some lovely families and friends around the pool! Resort - with a lovely Marina, choice of 2 good beaches (we felt son xiogur was the better beach for its crystal waters) and picturesque surroundings, this is a great choice. It has a relaxed feeling, yet the Marina still offers enough at night time not to be too quiet. Plenty of bars & restaurants which are reasonably priced, lovely seating by water. Pleasant coastal road to walk 10-15 mins the lighthouse & its restaurant. Hiring bikes is a good way to see the whole resort which is flat and easy to ride. Easy to get local bus 30mins into Cutadella which is worth visiting for half a day. Maracella suites - excellent customer service all round. It's great to see staff smiling and being polite, an important part of any holiday. They really made an effort to be friendly and have fun with our little boy too. Hotel is kept very clean overall. We thought the hotel food was 4 star, good variety, inc. many fresh healthy choices and locally produced food and dishes which is important for the authentic Menorcan experience. Wide salad and veg choices - anchovies, capers, olives, local cheese, asparagus, artichoke hearts etc. The restaurant opens from 7pm and staff work hard to clear quickly and politely. Would have preferred it to open 6.30pm due to our young child getting very hungry by then. Outdoor seating is great too. Breakfast was always good, cook to order omelettes, pancakes, fresh croissants - same choice most days but plenty of options, nice to make an effort with Spanish if possible as the chefs appreciate that but most speak great English. Bean to cup coffee machine at far end is a bonus! Needless to say we put on a few pounds after 2 weeks. Really enjoyed the spa too, it's in great condition, salt steamroom, water jets and Sauna are great. Small gym but enough to keep you going if you like to keep fit when on holiday. Friendly staff here again. Pool - As other reviewers say, we always found 2 sun beds no matter what time of day. Nobody reserves and it feels like there's more beds than guests. Shared games box is a good idea as guests can leave behind toys etc for other guests. Would suggest moving the rubbish bin away from this box though as our little boy liked to look in both! Grass area surrounds boundary to pool which is useful for kids to move around safely off patio. The hotel is spacious and never felt overcrowded which is pleasant for the buffet restaurant. Entertainment is not too loud and 4 nights per week in high season. We watched from our balcony mostly and it finishes by 10.30pm. No music at pool in daytime so it's generally quiet. No kids club, water slides etc which suited us. In summary It's ideal for young families, and those seeking a laid back holiday where everything you need is within walking distance. Thanks to all Macarella staff including, reception - Monika, Martina, Tita, / Pool& restaurant - Victor, Martin, Antonio, Augustin, Pablo, Lucia, Sergio, Xavier, Anmereno, Biel, Veronica and Johana. You all made our holiday very enjoyable!

Last Wednesday night we checked into Macarella Suites, we arrived around midnight and we were very tired. First impression was very nice and very clean. We paid £700 for our 4 night stay. For that kind of money you would expect everything to be perfect. On check-in the girl told us our room had a garden view. We woke up next morning opened our balcony door and our view was just lovely, NOT! We looked into the local supermarket. We went for breakfast which was good and then went to reception to ask for a room change, one of the lovely rooms overlooking the beautiful pool. We got told they didn't have another room although a lot of them looked empty but they hotel said they was full. They offered us another, ground floor room again with the same view. They told us we should have requested a pool view but this trip was a last minute decision. Again we complained, we were told all rooms are the same standard inside so all are priced the same. We asked to speak to manager who gave us the same story about the hotel being full, he walked away left us standing and never seen him again. We choose here because it was our Silver Wedding Anniversary and expected it to be a bit special, £700 for 4 nights is a lot of money. They called who refunded our money,we had to pay for our 1 night stay. Too me if these rooms are classed the same (supermarket view vs pool view) if it's important to you I strongly advise you call them before you go, otherwise you pay the same money as we were told. My husband was so upset we checked out after 1 night, booked another apartment for half the money and we had partial sea view.

Bit late on this but we stayed at the Macarella 2 weeks late May. we found this a very comfortable hotel. Nice big room kept clean by Consuella with a nice view over the pool. Top marks to the gardener for keeping the grounds so spotless. All the staff, without exception were very friendly, and good at their job. Never had to wait for coffee in the morning or drinks at night. The food in the restaurant was fine, not outstanding or anything but a good choice and loads of food cooked to order whislt you wait. When we were there there were an awful lot of pre school children. Doesn't bother us but thought i would mention. Entertainemnet at night if you wanted it was fine if you like that. We don't go for it very much but we did catch an act called Phenomena.Very very good. Prices in the hotel on a par with most bars outside we found, and the lounge was very comfy. We didn't like Cala n bosch very much so would not come back, however we would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone. A very comfortable stay.

I have just returned from my seventh visit to this hotel, fondly known as my second home with my Spanish family. I travel with my husband and 24 year old son, and we all feel the same about this fabulous hotel. The staff here are second to none, we are always greeted as long lost friends, and the greetings are sincere on both sides. Nothing is too much trouble for them. From Monika, Tita and Martine on reception to the wonderful Lucia in the restaurant. The food at the hotel is absolutely wonderful, so much choice of freshly cooked very tasty food, I would challenge anyone who says they couldn't find anything they loved. The bar staff and service are wonderful. Sergio, Victor, Raquel and Martin are the new faces of the bar, and though I thought service was good in previous years, this year tops the lot. This is shown by the dramatic increase of customers using the bar, snack bar and terrace of an evening drinking the delicious cocktails. Well done boys!!! Rooms are kept meticulously clean by the very friendly maids- Thankyou Gladys!! As always, sun beds are always available at the beautiful poolside, and evening entertainment was much better this year - Thankyou Jose. Restaurant service as always was brilliant with Lucia, Augustin, Pablo, Mireia and team working their socks off. I feel they were short staffed this year, and were missing the lovely Javi, as they had to work so hard to keep up the level of service. Our daughter unexpectedly visited us twice during our two week stay. This was no problem for Monika who made all the necessary arrangements seemlessly. She is such a fabulous manager. Thankyou so much. We have already booked for next year, and can't wait!! I would highly recommend this hotel ( obviously)

After a wonderful holiday last year it is not always best to go back, it's never as good the next time and all your memories and illusions are only shattered....but my wife and I did return to the Macarella suites again this year and it WAS as good as last year and our memories were just enhanced with yet a marvellous holiday. The staff are all so welcoming and friendly starting from the moment you arrive with Tita, Martina and Monica on reception through to the restaurant staff, pool bar staff and the cleaners/chambermaids that cheerfully go about their work with a friendly smile and cheery disposition. The food remains of the highest standard with an outstanding breakfast buffet and delicious evening meals. You are hard to please if there is not anything that takes your fancy at meal times. The surrounding areas of cala'n Bosch are delightful, good quality restaurants are plentiful, welcoming and friendly. Taking a stroll down to the Lighthouse for the sunset is a beautiful way to end the day. Cannot say much more but would admit, all being well, we ARE going back again next year!

Really great hotel for both couples and families. Really clean and helpful, friendly staff. Ideal location, close to beach and marina, without being too noisy. If you can, hire a car, I would recommend Valls, and explore the rest of the island. If you don't want to drive, its easy to get the bus into Cuitadella, which is a must.

Just returned from a lovely holiday at this hotel. Stayed bed and breakfast in a one bed apartment. Room was a very good size and spotlessly clean with maid service daily. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely large pool area and as other reviewers have stated, there were always sun beds available, no matter what time of day. Reserving of sunbeds is forbidden, but there were still a few who felt the need to do it despite this not actually being necessary. Breakfast was good with a large choice. The pool snack bar does not stay open for food all day and closes at 3.00 pm, however there is a supermarket right next door and plenty of places to eat within very close proximity. Drinks are available from the pool snack bar all day though. The evening bar area closes quite early, at approximately 11.00 pm but again, there are plenty of places close by. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the lovely marina which has a very good selection of restaurants and bars. It's also very close to a small alcove beach. This hotel is perfect if you want a relaxing holiday with everything on your doorstep and we would definitely return.

We visited Macarella in July and I have been extremely impressed All the staff were fantastic and so helpful We were half board and food was amazing- restaurant quality We had a one bedroom apartment which was immaculate Location is brilliant I would definitely go back Only downside was you have to pay for wi fi as not free anywhere in hotel Thank you so much

Just returned from a lovely weeks stay at this hotel. Very clean, with lovely friendly staff, everyone went out of their way to help. They have a good mix of evening entertainment on offer and best of all...the cocktails were CHEAPER than by the harbour. I also ordered a pizza from the restaurant which was a comparable price to eating out. Our room was immaculate. I celebrated my birthday whilst there and my blabbermouth friend told the hotel. I was treated to a surprise bottle of cava and a card in my room. A very kind gesture indeed. The pool and surrounding area was never too crowded and there were plenty of sun beds. Free pool towels can be collected from reception. I have stayed in other hotels in this area but this is the one I would happily return to.
