This is our second time here. Very clean, right next to town and super nice folks.
Loved the view from our room! Also the location of the hotel!
The location was great however many aspects of the place could use refreshing or updating. Being a vintage environment does not mean that it should be run down or lacking amenities.
Ocean view is VERY deceiving, there is a tiny sliver you can see through the trees. Rooms also do not have fireplaces as listed. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. The building is quaint and cute, but rooms are very outdated. Staff admitted we were booked for an oceanview room, which we didn't get. They moved us the the ocean view room which was minimal and the room itself was a downgrade. You definitely don't get what you pay for. Save money and stay up the road in Fort Bragg. Rooms have true ocean views and are cheaper.
Beautiful gardens. High potential, but needs remodeling. Beds were comfy. Breakfast has very limited options, especially if you have a nut allergy. Couldn't go out on our patio because the door was covered in webs. Appeared to be some black mold in the ceiling/wall around the shower, but the tub was clean. Charming place. Could be amazing with a little updating.
Clean and well decorated room with a great patio. The main building is beautiful and we enjoyed a good continental breakfast there.
This was a cute building a short walk to town. The drawbacks were that my room smelled of mildew, the Internet went out, and the front desk is not available at night (although there is a sign for an emergency number.) It was also noisy, I was awakened at 5:30 am by someone revving their truck in the parking lot outside my window. If you are a deep sleeper looking for a place to stay as you travel this might work, but if you are looking for a good rest, this wasn't the most comfortable.
Beautiful setting and gardens, very comfortable and spacious room.
Get the garden view! Beautiful lobby, loved the old time mansion feel
The hotel is in a quiet area, not very modern, no restaurant in the hotel. The gardens are very pretty
Great place to stay at a great value & close to everything
This is a charming and comfortable, although slightly worn, inn. It is up the street from the main shopping and dining area, but in this small town, that is only a nice five minute walk. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a larger room (suite) facing the ocean. The back of the inn faces Highway 101, so I would request the ocean side, if you can get it. The included breakfast was quite limited, but it was served in a dining room with a great view of the ocean. We were very pleased with our choice of lodging in Mendocino.
Clean antique rooms. They provide continental breakfast with bagels, hard boiled eggs, waffles, but no other hot food.
The room was nice, it walking distance from restaurants and market. The bed was not too comfortable ( kind a hard) but other then that everything was just fine.
Since we live less than two hours from the Mendocino Coast, we have spent numerous overnights there over the years. We decided to stay at Hill House this time since it did not require a two night minimum stay like many of the B&B's. The facility is probably 25 years old and our room may have had all of its original decor and fixtures still in place! The television was old and probably 17". The bathroom sink had several line gouges in it due to aging. The restaurant and bar are no longer open and there was no soda machine available. The continental breakfast appeared to be mediocre. We decided that the $200+ price we paid was twice its fair value. This once beautiful facility of "Murder She Wrote" fame is tired looking and needs a facelift!
Very helpful friendly staff. A quiet Location. Large and clean and warmly decorated rooms. Good heating if a little noisy. Helpful maid. Breakfast was minimal - no Fresh milk nor cereals nor Oatmeal. No cut Fruit - just waffles and baggels, tea and coffee. A short, 5 minute walk from the center of town.
very average quality, leaking windows means quite cold unless you turn the heat on big time.
