Do not stay at La Dependance Menaggio

The hotel, was locked up. No one was there to help, no sign on the door or anywhere on the property where to go to check in and no one spoke English or wanted to help. We ended up asking everyone we thought spoke English until we found one of the restaurant workers next door said You must go to the bar. Bar, why a bar to check into our hotel? 2 hours of our vacation time was passed, finally we went into this restaurant and in the corner there was a booth that no one was there. When the representative arrived, he didn't appoligise or offer us any complimentary food or drinks. He gave us the kyes and said it's that way, I asked him he can walk us to the building...I thought I received a hotel, not an Airbnb? The room was small, looks an attic space room, everytime you flush to toilet a wisseling sounds lasts 90 seconds , very annoying, the bed and pillows were not confortable at all. I will never recommend this place and will make sure everyone that asks me no to stay at La Dependance Menaggio.

Amazing room with insane view. Right in the center of town it was so easy to get anywhere… 10 minute walk to the beach, 10 minutes to the ferry. Highly reccoment this hotel!

Stayed for 6 nights. Avoid this hotel, you can find much better options. The staff sells beds not experience or comfortable stay. We were given wrong room with a bunker bad and a double bed with 1 single bed in another room, while I booked a double and 2 separate single beds and added a note that I travel with my sister, child and my mum and none of them will be able to sleep on a second level of the bed due to different reasons including health conditions. When we arrived, we discovered that our room was already given to other people. A very rude guy told that the number of beds in this room correspond to number of people and requested proof of health conditions why we cannot use a bunker bed. He didn’t apologise, he didn’t accept the fact that it caused inconvenience for us. When we were leaving the same guy charged us triple cost of the city taxes, which was reimbursed after an official complaint and wanted to charge us for 9 water bottles that we didn’t drink. I was shocked as before that I stayed in a very basic hotel in Bergamo for just a night and had in my room free water, cookies, tea and coffee in capsules. Additionally, one day we left for a whole day excursion and when we were back late in the evening we found a door left open by the cleaning staff. Nothing was taken but obviously we left documents and all our things in the room, which could have been stolen if we had less luck.

The hotel is decent and surrounding area has lot of dining and shopping options. The hotel is at the central plaza and the area is quite vibrant. There is a good lake side walk nearby. The issue is with check-in. The hotel's entrance is on the side, which is hard to find. The check-in is done at the nearby hotel/restaurant (Hotel Du Lac), which was not clear while booking. Also, if you need any supplies - towels, soaps, etc., you need to go to Hotel Du Lac. Other than that, rest of the stay is as expected.

The Hotel was great. Our room was better than expected. The property is right across the road from the lake and adjacent to the Menaggio Piazza. It is just lovely with a cute restaurant and options all around. Very romantic setting

Menaggio is amazing, La Dependance is Perfect.

What a wonderful place this is. Situated in the heart of Menaggio with easy access, easy parking, everything conveniently in walking distance. The room was perfect for two people, and the little balcony with adorable lake views… amazing! Was a perfect location for our Lake Como stay, we took a day pass and hoped off and on ferries and went to Bellagio, Varenna etc. Perfetto!

The property check in desk was a bit difficult to figure out and no place to stop to get out and find the check in desk (which is in the restaurant under the hotel de luc). Also no privacy blinds in the bathroom (so watch out at night). However, the apartment was awesome!!!! Great views, right in the center of the plaza. It was spacious and clean. Parking was convenient. All very affordable as well. We would definitely stay again.

We had a room with a window that overlooked the plaza with a spectacular view of the mountains and lakes. We loved the location of this hotel with the view but also the convenience for where we wanted to visit in the Lake Como region. We also loved that Menaggio is quieter town making this a great location to stay.

The room was very clean with a beautiful view. The staff members varied from very helpful to not so much especially in the restaurant. I asked for fruit and was told they did not have!?! Vs providing options like, we will have tomorrow or can I slide an orange for you (which they did have).

We got the family room which was spacious enough for the four of us. The room was clean . The entrance of the building was depressing with lots of mess and bird poops all around. The elevator was a plus.
