Travelodge Hotel Melbourne Southbank

The hotel was fine, but my room was to warm, I did not contact staff, I was only staying the night. Paid for a room for three people, but could only have the breakfast for two. Was told it was because we booked through Orbitz, thought that was strange.

Great location. Two minutes walk to the southbank and promenade. Staff isn't very friendly and helpful. Room condition was ok and had no problems.

Excellent choice in a hotel. Close in to the Yarra riverfront restaurants and attractions. Convenient to the main train/tram station on Flinders Street. Rooms were comfortable and very reasonably priced. Overall a very good value. Would recommend them and would stay there again.

This hotel was great. The best thing I loved was how close it really is to the CBD and train station.

Waste conscious, very amenable . Great value for $, staff deserve praise, especially housekeeping. Will stay here again.

The location was fantastic. Within easy walking distance of transportation, food, shopping and entertainment. Check in was wonderful, especially since I arrived on an international flight at 9:00 AM. However, that being said amenities were almost non existent. The Internet was down, the breakfast was too expensive for the poor quality of the food. Not a good value. Once the Internet came online, it was too expensive especially if all you wanted to do was access email. They also could be more helpful in providing travelers with information on where ATMs are located and the surrounding venue. A television channel run down would also be helpful.

We stayed at the hotel for one night(Apr 2013). The hotel is very centrally located but the surroundings are not noisy at all in the night. Also, Flinders Street Station is a short walk. We also enjoyed the downtown stroll all the way to Queen Victoria Market. The Hotel is across from the more upscale Langham Hotel . If you will be parking your car, be sure to get your parking ticket validated by the receptionist to get a discount - otherwise downtown parking is steep.

If you absolutely have to stay in the Southbank area, maybe but this overpriced hotel is marginal at best. Small rooms, expensive yet spotty wifi, sheets don't fit the beds, I won't be back. The lobby is nice but the rooms are just Travelodge and at over $300 a night, you'd expect a little more.

Good basic hotel located right in the heart of Melbourne with easy access to everything.

Only one block away from the Yarra River, 5 minues walk to the Flinders Street Station. Location, Room Comfort and Value are all good. Paid Wi-Fi connection was very slow and inconvenienced but the front desk staff told me many guest had complained and there may be some improvement soon. Still 5 out of 5.

The hotel had comfortable lighting and a very helpful staff. The location was great - a nice walk along the river to the convention center. It doesn't have any fitness room, pool, or room service, but there is a kitchenette in every room, which was very handy. This made up for some problems I ran into: heating in my room didn't work, and the shower pressure was low. The staff was nice enough to bring in a space heater so I felt comfortable.

A perfect place to stay when attending the Australian Open

The meeting at the neighboring really expensive hotel was steps away, and the transportation hub at Flinders St. Station is an easy walk. With an 8-day stay, I greatly appreciated the microwave, fridge, sink, and dishes. The seating area (love seat, coffee table, round table and two chairs) worked well. My only quibble was the short shower curtain that let water spray around the bathroom floor.

This is a perfect place for a student traveler. Just the bare minimum; felt like a youth hostel. Location was good.

Great experience overall - wonderful location - close to almost everything. Reasonable rates, courteous staff, clean and tidy, good service.

Great location. Hotel staff were o.k., but nothing special. Were initially offered a room (for 2 adults and 1 tall pre-teen) with 2 twin beds only. Had to ask to be moved and then got room with 2 double beds (but would have thought staff could have looked and seen our family size).

The reception staff were incredibly rude, no concept of customer service at all! The rooms were nice and clean but honestly would rather stay somewhere else.

Nice location close to Yarra River. Just cross the Yarra River and you're at Flinders Station and in the middle of the shopping area.

[...]This ws my third stay at this hotel in the last 3 years. The hotel has always been a basic hotel in a great location. I have noticed that the service gets a little worse each time I stay there. I will be looking for a new place next time I am in Melbourne.

the room i reserved was not available, though i reserved the room quite some time before. the available room was below standard.
