We had a room with a balcony view of the Shrine. We walked to the Botanic gardens from here- which was only a 8 minute walk away .had nice lunch in gardens walked around and came back for afternoon tea in room which had cooking facilities, including washing machine and dryer.Swam in the pool and then took the tram in the city for dinner. Walked along Southbank and walked back( only 20 minute walk to heart of city) Bed was a little small so upgraded to a bigger bed.Next morning went to Botanic gardens again before check out. All in all had a good time here. Would stay here again for location and facilities
We have stayed here twice in recent years and while the apartments are getting a little tired, the convenient and peaceful location makes up for that. It is inexpensive, great for a family group or couples and an easy walk to the city. The staff are also incredibly helpful and friendly. A coat of paint and maybe some work on the kitchens would help. Our stove had seen better days and the shower was a bit dodgy too. The restaurant on the ground floor - Orient East - is excellent.
Stayed five nights recently for business. The location is ideal on several tram routes and within an easy walk to the CBD. However, the hotel disappointed. Furnishings and equipment were sparse and old. The room and foyer are in need of full refurbishment to be in any way competitive with other hotels and apartments. Service at the front counter was basic. A smile was not to be found, although service in the bar/restaurant was quite good and friendly. Food quality was good pub bistro type. For the price of a room there are plenty of better options.
We have stayed at seasons botanic gardens a number of times now. It's not the latest and most modern apartments in Melbourne we just like its position and the rooms are generous in size. Some of the newer apartments we have stayed at are a bit more pokey. We have stayed there as a couple a number of times and we have also taken our 4 kids there and had a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom apartment which was really big. It's a short approx 10 min stroll into Southbank, the shrine is directly across the road and there's a great and fairly cheap Asian cafe downstairs that also does breakfast and not a bad spot for an afternoon drink. The rooms a well equipped and fully self contained. The balconies are pretty small though. One of the best things is you can always find a parking spot along st kilda rd and after 6 on Friday there's no charge so you can park there all weekend for free! The staff are helpful and friendly. Price wise it is not bad either. We will stay here again.
Checked into this hotel for our 2nd stay here last night... stayed here for our honeymoon a few years back and had a great time. This time, when we checked in (2 adults, 2 kids) to find that the room only had a king and double bed. One side of the king bed had a mattress that belonged in the bin... completely sunken and ruined. My husband went to reception and they tried to be helpful and moved us to a different room with a better mattress but said they have no rooms that come with the single beds. All they could do was aplit the king into 2... which means our little boys are now in the master room with view and we are in the small room. Insane setup to have no rooms with singles in an apartment hotel! The final straw has been that we woke up this morning after crawling into bed in the dark last night to find lolly/chocolate wrappers and hair (not my colour) through the bed. Causing me to assume that the bed wasn't changed. Pretty disgusting and frankly not good enough. They assured me someone would change today, but has been 4 hours and nothing as yet... i would think it would be a priority. Not happy to have 4 more nights at this stage!
Stayed for closeness to National Gallery of Victoria. Room quiet, clean and well appointed. Enjoyed evening meal in on-site restaurant so much we backed up for breakfast. Good coffee too. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. Would stay again.
I choose this to be close to South Melbourne, and found it was very accessible by tram. Quiet generous apartment with well-equipped kitchen and with thick curtains, so I slept well. Friendly service. Convenient cafes and lovely to wake up so near the green spaces of the botanic gardens.
Decent place to stay. Nice roomy suites with all the amenities like fridges dishwasher and a kitchen. Bathrooms were nice and big. Lounge furniture was modern and plenty of balcony space to enjoy the views.
This is going to be my new Melbourne bolt-hole. Charmingly situated near the botanic gardens and just across the road from the Shrine of remembrance - I found every thing exceeded my expectations for the price I paid. Clean spacious apartment, friendly and efficient reception and the chic on-premises eatery was fantastic value with tasty dishes. The long configuration of the space was offset by the large floor to ceiling windows which provided ample natural light . And it was a delight to have a bath with plenty of hot water. The building itself is a seventies curiosity that has been thankfully preserved and renovated into the cosy hotel it is today. Its only a 15 minute walk to Flinders street station and the joys of the laneways. Highly recommended.
We found out about this hotel through friends and overall, we were quite happy with it. The location is great, only a short tram ride or a leisurely 20-30min walk to the city centre or even to the MCG. The apartment was nice and comfortable. The decor wasn't very modern nor did we have a great view out of our windows, but we didn't come to Melbourne to stay in the apartment all day! The staff and housekeeping were great. There is also a pool, gym and bar/restaurant downstairs. Having the Botanic Gardens and the Shrine of Remembrance opposite the hotel was a bonus, it definitely a good spot to run around and explore with the kids. Something which we probably wouldn't have done if we'd stayed in another part of Melbourne. Also, there is an IGA supermarket literally down the street for any grocery shopping, but be warned they are expensive and don't always have the nicest produce.
