Stayed here last night as I couldn’t get a morning flight out of Gold Coast to suit business meeting. I was originally given a room on the 3rd floor but having. Knee issue the reception gave me a room on ground floor = helpful staff. Room was ok as in typical old Ibis budget style but was what I expected so wasn’t an issue. Bed was ok pillows comfy. Would recommend for quick stay.
good location and price, supportive staff, walking distance to airport.clean rooms and with quite ok beds. breakfast was reasonable (continental) but could be more of selections. Stay one night is ok but longer stays not recommended
Needed to be close to the airport for early flight. Booked last minute & arrived around 11 pm. Was greeted by friendly receptionist, room was clean, air con, tv, small desk & plenty of linen. Left at 4am, easy key drop & on site parking. My 2nd stay - a budget, no frills option for travellers starting early or arriving late who want to sleep & not waste money.
The bed was comfy and the shower was warm. Wifi was available. There was a line of ants going down the wall from the ceiling right by the headboard of my room. While reception was nice enough to give me a can of insect spray to kill them, I had the feeling of ants walking over my face while I slept which needless to say made for an uncomfortable night. There was also a wad of toilet paper someone had wedged into what I can only assume was the hole the ants were coming from in the ceiling, probably to block them out. While I can appreciate this unsuccessful attempt to rectify the problem, I can only wonder at the level of professionalism inherent in using a wad of very visible toilet paper for this purpose.... Ants issues aside, this hotel doesn't have an elevator. Having traveled light on this occasion it wasn't a major issue, however, with Melbourne being an international airport and the standard luggage allowance for Qantas being 30kg for an international flight, I feel sorry for any traveler having to lug their heavy rollercases up those stairs as I witnessed a few had to do. The toilet and shower is set in what can easily be considered a port-a-potty built into the room with huge signs that the steam from the shower will set off the fire alarm... The tv is dated and the picture quality was below average. I understand this is a budget hotel, but I can't help compare it to the Ibis Budget at Auckland airport where I have stayed many times and which is literally worlds better than this one, while supposedly being in the same class. Not what I have come to expect from Ibis hotels.
Awful nights sleep as bed mattress was rock hard. There are stairs only, no elevator. Noise travels easily from hallway. Police in the hall in middle of night woke me. Would have given a better review is the mattress wasn’t so bad. Woke up tired & aching.
Very comfortable hotel, great bedding, good size room, clean & tidy and a walk to the domestic terminal. Only reason I didn't give an 'excellent' was because we ate at the hotel restaurant and the vegetarian options were very limited and the portion size was very poor - three mushrooms, please come on guys! Curtains didn't quiet fit the window so up at sun up.
This hotel is walking distance to airport only 10 minutes. It's clean, shower and toilet area very small also the room area, but fine for just an overnight stay specially when you have a very early flight in the morning. Suited us fine.
To find the Ibis, you have to go down to the domestic level and head towards the qantas flying kangaroo side of the terminal. Turn left going out of the terminal and cross the road heading towards Mc Donalds. There is a path at the back of McDonalds that leads you to the hotel. You cannot walk there from the International level you have to go downstairs. The hotel was close to the air[port and reasonably quiet. We found the room very small but clean. The toilet and shower were in a module that you had to step up into. The sheets on the bed were very noisy and sounded like paper when you touched them. We didn't have breakfast there but it was available at an extra cost. The staff were very helpful.
One of the dirtiest places I’ve ever stayed. There was hair and black marks on the bedding, blankets were itchy, the cups and mugs were covered in dust and there was damp on the ceiling above the bunk bed. Do not stay here.
A convenient stay for one night. A night light or small light by the bed would be nice as would a closer plug to charge a mobile. The room was fine, the bed was comfy & the noise was acceptable. My kids thought their could be more room for the toilet & shower area.
