We made a last minute decision to spend Fri&Sat outside Prague . We got the last room available ( there are 23 rooms ) the place is very nice particularly the natural garden and forest it's an historical large villa not really a Chateau situated 70 km from Prague I guess we got a standard room ( 500€ for 2 nights) size of room very very small , few sqm nicely decorated but you feel quite claustrophobic. No separate shower ( combined with bath tab) and no bidet which you should expect for that rate as well as FOC tea/coffee like it's offered by any " luxurious " hotel chain and/or exclusive owned hotel &SPA. The most disappointing was the quality of food and menu range at the restaurant 😱Piano Nobile Apparently the restaurant won the award as best restaurant in CZ back in 2014 so expectations were high . Unfortunately price range still very high but the quality and choice well below average The menu is very limited. 4/5 starters and 5 mains . The selection is not attractive and not in season for starters they had available veal tongue. Rabbit loin. A soup , dried beef and a seasonal daily salad . Nothing fresh and light except the seasonal salad . The rabbit loin was accompanied by " canned" artichoke my partner had the salad few mesclun leaves on top of sliced beetroot and cheese mousse As a main the cod was below average a tiny piece of fish on braised " canned" beans Next day we had lunch on the terrace. The menu is the same. My partner went again for the daily salad as no way she would choose dried beef rabbit or veal tongue with 35C This time the salad was the same mesclun tossed in a vinaigrette and topped with few slices of roasted chicken breast. The price? We were charged 590 kc ( 24€) for almost the same salad she had for dinner ( 12€) I asked if they could provide a sandwich I had a very tiny club sandwich ( 2 small triangles) I would skip the comments on the Aperol Spritz ( almost no Aperol ) By this time we were considering going out for dinner however there is nothing around the area unless you take your car and drive 20 km ( 40 km both ways) to find some local hospoda or restaurant so we decided to stay . to have a bit of a change if not on the menu at least on the surrounding we asked a table on the veranda but was apparently fully booked so we got the same table of previous night . Same menu so we went for 2 salads ( same as for lunch some leaves tossed with vinaigrette and 3 tiny slices of chicken) and 2 duck breast with fries ( we skipped the fancy mousse sauces garnishes mentioned on the menu) at 20.30 they run out of bread which was the best thing ( nice brown bread loaf) instead we received some awful plastic industrial baguette slices which we sent immediately back to the kitchen ( how can you run out of bread at 20.30 on your busiest night?) Overall Chateau Mcely is a nice place with a truly amazing park. however very overpriced and not a good value for money.the range and quality of food is an issue considering that there is no alternative unless you travel 40 km to get a meal . The menu is poor with little choice some of the ingredients are " canned" like the artichokes and cannellini beans which is a real shame Overall with what we paid for a very short stay we could have flown to Barcelona including accommodation in a real 5 star hotel PS: the service is good. Most of the staff is young and not too experienced but they are trying hard and very friendly with a good service attitude
We had probably one of the nicest rooms, with the name of the princess. It was an amazing experience, very cosy and comfortable, nice personnel, high standards in all aspects, good food, great place. Fully recommended.
Hello everyone! First of all me and my husband: we wish to say thanks and wish all the best to the hotel and all the stuff! It is a perfect place with perfect people, atmosphere, kitchen and etc. I would like to tell the story of our trip: we came with my husband together it was 50th birthday of my husband and all the stay was a surprise for him( I should make a note, that the stuff helped me to make real all the surprises I planed, just by mail, writing them in advance) We came and the room was prepared, we were met with wet towels for hands and a glass of apple juice. The room was clean, light, cosy as it may be in the dream.( I asked in mail for wine and fruits in the room and everything was waiting for us) Near the bed there was balm before sleep- it is very interesting idea! For husband there was prepared a greeting card with signature of all the stuff of the hotel. For evening I have reserved dinner for two in the hall with 101 candles and roses, it was realized on time, very, very, very beautiful and perfect organized. We had a waiter, who knew the menu in a perfect way and was good in wine: many thanks! All the dishes were very tasty, and beautiful served. The next day it was little raining but we wanted to have a walk around and we were offered an umbrella and rubber boots: useful thing and perfect served: different sizes and clean! Before our arrival we were presented home made bread and bottles of water, quite pleasant souvenir! Near the hotel there is a very good forest to have a walk on foot or by bike. Around the hotel there is an English garden, pool and little beds for vegetables and flowers. You may also plant a tree with the table near by with your name and the date. If you leave the hotel and go to the airport, you may order the taxi, staff will help you with it. The price will be about 2500 korun. Many thanks for all the painstaking work to make the rest unforgettable and pleasant! All the best and we wish to be back as soon as possible! ;)
I can recommend mcely chateau. We were here with my husband for degustation menu and always travel for two-day stay if we want to relax. Amazing service /it is not seen very often in the Czech Rep/, culinary experience and beautiful surroundings and chateau itself - great place to unwind and get refreshed
Beautiful spaces. Nice staff. Excellent breakfast.A natural biotope lake where even frogs are. Excellent local cosmetics, which can also be bought as a gift or joy for home. Surely we will come back soon.
Unforgettable experience, very nice and kind staff, beautiful views, pleasant relaxation, children's facilities, is not far from Prague, excellent meal, adequate number of rooms, pleasant interior, focused on detail
This is a fantastic getaway for the whole family. It's a short drive from Prague. My kid had a great time running through the grounds and at the playground within. The Spa offers massages for the little ones so they get some pampering as well. We had a great dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly.
Just one hour drive from Prague. Beautiful setup of a hotel, restaurant and spa. Beautiful and relaxing gardens full with old trees and flowers. An amazing restaurant serving European dishes. Excellent service. Highly recommended!
This Chateau is probably THE nicest property of any place I have EVER stayed at. Excellent service, beautiful property and surrounding gardens and amenities. Don't miss the sunset in the terrace room. And the food! Incredible dinner and brunch (complimentary brunch that includes caviar and champagne). Just wish I was able to stay there more than one night. If you want a spa or relaxing stay while in Europe, you must visit this place. Also, don't miss a visit to the library and rooftop view -- felt like Nancy Drew exploring there.
This was my third visit to chateau Mcely and the least satisfying one. I decided to combine lunch with a long massage in their spa. I wish I did not book the treatment though. The masseuse was a very low energy person not communicating efficiently (I am Czech and so was she so language barrier was not the issue) and not smiling at all. Actually, she made me feel unwelcome - not what one expects when spending a lot of money. The massage itself was not good either. I already emailed some feedback to the management of this hotel.
