We have stayed here for a month every February for the last three years. Great the main drag and only a two block walk to the ocean. Beautiful pool to relax by, although not heated so can be chill early in the year depending on the air or temperature. Very modern suites with a kitchenette. Dishes, small appliances, fridge & two burner stove top. Staff are very friendly & most can understand English. Particular gem was Jesus, a very dedicated employee, always busy cleaning & very helpful. Looking forward to returning next year!

We stayed in Marena Suites and Apartments from December 7 through December 21. Overall, it was the best hotel stay for us in years. It is on a par or better than our 4+ star hotel experiences! This is a modern private hotel with smart layouts inside the suites and well-designed common use areas. Everything is in great condition and very clean. No mold, no musty smell, no insects in the rooms, and no litter on the premises. The property is very well maintained and landscaped. The hotel ground is a beauty. Conveniently located on a very quiet street yet very close to the Golden Zone, this hotel is the best option if you want to relax on your vacation (like us). The reception ladies were not only shockingly beautiful but also spoke English fluently and were very efficient and helpful. The hotel is lucky to have them! Our suite had two rooms to comfortable accommodate our family (2 adults + 2 pre-teens). The suite had a fully-equipped kitchen (gas stove, fridge, microwave, all sorts of kitchen appliances, a kitchen sink, dishes and cookware, etc.) and a cozy dining area. Marvelous! We cooked a lot (see more on that below) and it was a very useful feature for us. The swimming pool is refreshing, reasonably cool and very clean. With colored lights in the evening, it was the centerpiece of the hotel yard. The only mood killer we have experienced took place on the adjacent property. As noted above, Marena is a surprisingly quiet place to stay within the Golden Zone. And all the guests were very considerate to others. Regretfully, that wasn’t the case with the properties next door. Even though it was one night only, the adjacent private property was hosting a very loud front yard night party including a full-scale performance by a live brass band. This madness affecting the entire neighborhood lasted “on repeat” for hours ending well after 2 am. That was something we hadn’t subscribed to and couldn’t do anything about. All other aspects of our stay were excellent, including the cleaning lady Lina, who did a great job daily. Next time we plan to be in Mazatlan, we will not be looking any further. Other observations that may be useful for future guests of Marena Suites and Apartments. Weather in December: +28°C on average (up to +31°C). Most days were sunny. Not a drop of rain in 14 days! Ocean beaches: The nearest beach is within 5 minutes’ of relaxed walk from Marena. The ocean was warm and calm enough for us to enjoy its salty waters. Based on our first-hand experience, the ocean along the Golden Zone is suitable for swimming and is comfortably warm in December. Dining: We haven’t found any budget-friendly and appealing local dining options in the area. The posted menu prices were equal or very close to those in Canada. Instead, we were buying groceries at the local Walmart Supercenter (Walmart Marina) and cooking in the suite. About 1,000 pesos + taxi equaled 4-5 days’ worth of great meals for a family of four. That’s about the cost of one good dinner for a family of four if we were dining out within the Golden Zone.

This place is reasonably priced, quite new and clean and With a small family we preferred to get a one bed apartment with a separate living room and bathroom instead of a hotel room although the only setback is it is slightly back ,away from the beach but only a 10 minute walk. We were only meant to stay 2 nights but stayed a further 2 nights due to the flooding ruining our car. August ,September or October I have learnt is not the best time to be in Mazatlan unless your a national.

Best hotel in Mazatlan. Feels more like a condo. Clean, quiet and the internet worked great. Unlike most hotels in Mazatlan. Best of all its literally 2 blocks from the beach. Many restaurants and stores really close by. I will be staying here exclusively when ever I go. 10 out of 10
