Lakefront living at The Dragonfly House! This refreshing two bedroom, two and a half bath cottage features an oversized furnished porch perfect for enjoying amazing sunrises, happy hour, waterfront dining, and lake gazing—rain or shine!!

The interior of the cottage has an open-air feel with fantastic lake views and well-situated room designs. Bedrooms have queen-size beds, ceiling fans, and private baths; the half bath includes a stacking washer/dryer combo. The large couch folds out to a queen size bed for comfortably sleeping an additional two people. The kitchen boasts granite countertops and efficient storage to keep meal prep at the lake a breeze.

The Dragonfly House is equipped with a gas grill, firepit, and two kayaks/life vests. Bring your fishing gear and cast a line off the dock or tie up your floatie and relax in the water.

Ideally situated in a quiet cove in Mayville, the Dragonfly House is within walking distance to miniature golf, several eateries, a cafe, and ice cream stands. The Chautauqua Belle steamboat boards from Lakeside Park for a uniquely informative cruise on Chautauqua Lake. The Rails to Trails pathway begins near the old train station in Mayville and is great for a refreshing lake view bike ride or walk. The Chautauqua Institution, a little over a mile away, offers free admission on Sundays–grab a drink lakeside under the iconic Bell Tower at 3 Taps, dine on the porch at the historic Athenaeum Hotel, take in a movie or a show, or simply stroll the beautiful grounds.

The view and access to the lake are amazing. Unfortunately the back deck was filthy. It was obviously never cleaned after winter. There were spider webs on everything plus there was animal feces in the back yard leading to the long dock and it was way too big to be from water foul. We had to take cold showers, I’m assuming because the water heater was never turned up. If you rent make sure you bring plenty of water and don’t plan on washing your clothes as I did. There are instructions after arriving saying the water is palatable but they recommend bottle water. They also recommended going to the laundromat to wash your light colored things. I specifically rent properties so I can wash my clothes before heading to the next point on our trips. It’s so sad because as I said the view and setting are just beautiful. If you don’t mind sitting on filthy chairs and taking cold showers this is the place for you.

Wonderful stay

We loved it. The view is stunning and the back porch is ideal in every way. The kitchen is modern and well-stocked, and there are tons of great places to sit, all with views of the lake. The only drawback was the pull out couch in the living room, which was fine for our 18 year old son, but it’s hard to imagine a couple fitting on it. Make sure you wear water shoes in the lake - rocks are sharp (but they do have water shoes to wear). We look forward to coming back. Fabulous getaway
