We stayed in the hotel for two nights.Myself,my fiancé and a year old baby.Horrible experience, room was freezing,we asked for a heater at least four times during our stay, and they ignored us,so disappointing especially with the small baby that had to sleep with us and not in her cot as it was so cold.Breakfast staff were abrupt,we were served cold toasts after breakfast, and glass with honey for baby was cracked with a big piece missing, food was ok but served cold and only small selection.Bar was dark and cold,no atmosphere there, staff friendly.Room was nice but freezing.Pool and pool area not the cleanest.Very disappointed with our stay especially after driving all the way from Cork. Left after 1 night as didn't want to end up depressed. TV in bedroom had 1 channel and was very old. Evening meal served in bar which was dark, cold and lonely by man who made us feel a nuisance. Only 1 creamed potato and wasn't given any more when requested. Had to ask for the tea and coffee after tiny dessert. Breakfast served in restaurant which was very basic and when arrived there was nobody in it not even staff. Receptionists however were friendly and we had no problem with them. Wouldn't recommend.
Having two kids under three we need two cots in our hotel rooms. Usually when we travel despite advance request we are lucky to find one cot in whatever hotel we stayed in. This time entering our Twin Trees room we found a massive room containing two proper wooden cots. Such a relief and it cheered us up for the rest of the weekend. The bed was comfy, the shower worked properly and staff were very friendly. There's a play room for kids and a toddler pool. In terms of negatives our room (346) had only 4 fuzzy analogue channels. I would have thought saorview digital would have been the least one would expect nowadays. Also it would be nice to have a few bottles of craft beer behind the bar. Overall though we were really impressed and we intend to return again soon.
The long awaited and much anticipated trip away I had with my boyfriend on Thursday the 2nd until Saturday the 4th of November in the Twin trees hotel, ballina could not have been more dissapointing. I honestly wish now we had saved our money and not bothered going. On arrival the receptionist could not find our booking in their system. I had to email our booking voucher to her as proof of payment as we had prepaid upon booking. We had booked a 2 night stay with dinner on one evening, a deluxe room and breakfast each morning. After eventually finding a room for us it could not have been further from deluxe. I wouldn't even call it a standard room. The wardrobe was hanging off the wall, a socket was hanging off the wall and sparking, there was BUGS in the bed and bath. The decor was outrageously old fashioned. To a point where it actually resembled a funeral home. The bathroom was dated, dirty and old fashioned. The room was tiny with a dirty bed, horrible decor and safety hazards. The TV was a black Diamond brand. This is a big huge box of a TV that had 2 channels which were outrageously blurry. My boyfriend went down to reception to inform them of the horrendous conditions of the room. To be fair they did move us to a nicer room, but still not really up to standards. Same decor and TV but a bit cleaner. The staff at the hotel were really nice on the Friday, the woman who served us our dinner in the bar was the best part about our stay closely followed by the steak. That was lovely. However ordering a pint of Bulmers and being offered a can in a hotel is absolutely ludacris? If I wanted a can of cider I would have gone to the off-licence!! The staff on the Saturday were a different story, breakfast food was the same, over cooked rock hard eggs, soggy scrambled eggs, sausages cut in half and fried to resemble cocktail sausages and undercooked rashers. The server said to wait and she would bring us to a table we followed her into the breakfast area and she disappeared. No offer or tea or toast for at least 10 minutes. These two young girls were gossiping about other guests while cleaning the table next to ours and I find that disgraceful. The outside of the hotel is rundown but the garden and little river was really lovely to walk around. Cobwebs, creaking floorboards to the point where there are dents in the floorboards under the carpet in corridors. Poor lighting and again rundown, old fashioned decor. The social media and advertising done in the hotel and online is so misleading it should be taken down. The instagram page especially is a joke. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody, if we hadn't driven for 4 and a half hours to get here I would have honestly asked for a refund and driven home again. Really really dissapointed and honestly I felt very let down and mislead by the information we received upon booking and what we were actually faced with on arrival.
stayed here with my husband and another couple and we had a great weekend.the hotel is set in a very quite area with lovely woodlands beside the river, i found the owners and all the staff so friendly and helpfull .the breakfast was great and we had a lovely bar lunch on arrival.Ballina is a lovely friendly town and i most certainly will be returning to Twin Trees.
Visited at end of midterm for one night with family. Had a really enjoyable time, lovely atmosphere, food in bar was perfect and staff extremely friendly. Clean and well presented bedrooms which were warm and cosy.
My sister & I recently stayed at Twin tree hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful.. we dined in the bar both nights & the food was fabulous. Our room was very spacious & cosy.. looking forward to our return visit..
My wife and I together with my sister in law and husband recently spent a very enjoyable 3 nights in the hotel. We found it to be very comfortable and staff, and in particular the manager, to be very friendly and obliging. The quality of the food was of a very satisfactory standard. The rooms were very comfortable, the only disappointment being the to reception in the bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend it to family and friends.
I stayed here for 8 days in March, the hotel was qutie empty as it was the off season, but I had an amazing time. Helen was the greatest and she deserves a raise. The surroundings and grounds were refreshing and relaxing. The breakfast was delicious! Helen and the staff were a delight to chat with and helpful. If I ever make it back to Ireland, I would stay here again.
We stayed in one of the first floor rooms (nrs. 100 and up). To get to this room we had to take the elevator to the second floor, walk through a long hallway and take two narrow stairs down. The couch in the room had a hole in it (cigaret burn?). The bath was not clean (hair). The tv signal was to weak to get a good image on the screen. The double bed was t narrow to sleep two, so we had to use both (double and single). In the evening there was no staff at the reception desk, only a piece of paper with a telephone number. Breakfast was OK.
