On arrival, the reception staff were very welcoming. The room itself was nice, with its own little garden, but no table or chair to sit outside to enjoy it. Bonus to have a tea and coffee making amenities, with an iron and ironing board, robe and slippers were also provided if your fancy feeling posh😊 Room service on the first night was swift and reached my room in a matter of minutes, which made me wonder, fast service but was this prepared in a microwave..? The following evening the staff advised me to try out their restaurant instead of heading across the water to the food quarter in the near by shopping mall. So I found a table outside by the river, however, this needed clearing and cleaning. The manager tried to persuade me to eat inside, it appeared that the staff were up against it and ran about like headless chickens. I said it's fine, to ease the pressure I took a table inside. I waited patiently as I always do, but 20 minutes later, I decided that the staff just kept running by and not even acknowledge my instance, so I politely got up and left, headed back to my room and ordered room service thinking this maybe a quicker option. A hour and fifteen minutes went by, so I called room service to enquirer about my simple order, they advised me it was on its way..... ten minutes later, the manager called back and asked if I ordered room service. So the simple order was re taken. The third night, I gave the benefit of the doubt. I thought I would try out he restaurant once again as there isn't to many other places to eat later on an evening. Firstly I ordered the warm Brie in breadcrumbs, they came out cold, I ask the waiter, is this suppose to be warm, his reply was "yes" of course, I said it's fridge tempature cold, his reply was.... "yes sir it's a cold starter". Not one to complain I just ate it. Soon after my order of fish, rice and steamed vegetables seemed to be on its way, but no, the fish and rice were presented on a plate, the portion big enough to feed a starving hamster, with the waiter informing me that the vegetables were on its way. Ten minutes had passed I called him over to inform him that my food had gone cold whilst waiting. He took them from me and said he would re heat them. Five minutes later the same piece of fish and rice had been microwaved with a serving of cold green leaf salad, not the steamed veggies I ordered. So me being me I just carried on and ate up. Good and bad points: GOOD POINTS. -Friendly welcoming staff that makes your stay. Very helpful genuine people -Nice large rooms with outdoor gardens -Comfortable bed -Room provided with a desk, telephone,writing pad,iron/board, towels, shower gel/shampoo, bath and shower, choice of lighting, wardrobe, safe, TV -Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy -Pool, Gym, Spa -Man made beach and sun loungers -Hotel boat provided to cross the marina, nice touch BAD POINTS -Food and service: Some staff seem unable to cope even when it's quiet. -Food itself seems effortless, not fresh, poor customer understanding -Room service, hit and miss, can ruined your night if busy to be somewhere -room maids, need reminding about topping up the tea,coffee and milk. -No garden furniture, can't enjoy the surroundings as much as you could. -In Room entertainment system needs up dating with more channel for those not venturing out. -Oh and NO biscuits with the tea and coffee making amenities 😊 I would stay here again, but maybe bring some snacks for the room on an evening. Breakfast is ok, cold and hot, with a menu to choose from. Like to say, the reception staff and the bell boy and doorman very helpful, can't do enough for you. Hope this helps....... Enjoy!!!!!
Came to the la Boussole for lunch and invited a guest for lunch. At first noticed that i noticed that the service was a bit slow especially the food service.Jazz came to us and he noticed our drinks was nearly halfway. I overheard him telling one of the waitresses that he wanted our food to be served as soon as possible.Effectively it was not a long wait but i wanted my guest to be served as soon as possible.I even noticed that his approach especially in French or English is very professional towards the staff.Rare to see managers speaking in a foreign language.Staff responds well to him and he spread a positive vibes on his staff.I enjoyed that. It was as if i was in a cinema watching a movie.The desert suggested by Jazz is engraved in my mind. The chocolate and raspberry cake is now my favorite.If ever i open a restaurant, i would really hope to have a leader like him.LUCKY SUFFREN.
Had a good time. Friday night music is very nice. Barman Jai proposed a very nice cocktail. One of my favourite. Will recommend as a night out with family and friends. Very friendly staff. Nice view and atmosphere
First, I must compliment the great service of the receptionists at various times of the day, bell boy and most importantly, the restaurant staff. They were rather attentive and made me feel very welcome and pleased throughout my stay. One of the restaurant even remembered me on my second visit as well as my breakfast order and drink as the previous day. It was a pleasant surprise and the service was very personal and she was always serving with a smile. Great service like hers is what this hotel can be proud of. The food at the restaurant was also to my liking and I loved their cooking whether it's breakfast or dinner. Location wise, it's opposite le cauden waterfront and accessible by taking a water taxi. This is complimentary and helpful for guests who wish to visit the crafts market and do some shopping and get some tea, cookies, sugar, soap, accessories and various souvenirs. While the food and service was great with free transport to waterfront, it was unfortunate that much can be done to make this a bettter business hotel. For a start, wifi is a must. The wifi in the restaurant was weak and non-existent at times. There was no wifi in the room at all and unfortunately this being a business trip for me had caused much inconvenience without wifi in the room. When I arrived, I was shocked that there were 2 cockroaches in the bathroom! This is not acceptable for a hotel of this standing and hopefully this will improve. On my 2nd night, there was a fly and a mosquito as well. It would be very helpful if none of these insects were in the room to make the stay a more pleasant one. Overall, the service had been great and gave me a lasting impression. But wifi and hygiene has to be improved. Please keep up the great service and I hope for better improvements in the areas mentioned to make this an even better hotel.
I spent 4 nights here while on a business trip to Mauritius. It was my first stay at the hotel and it was very comfortable. I can recommend you stay here if on business for a few days. Facilities are good and the hotel has a water taxi if you want to go to the waterfront shops or to have dinner at the restaurants. Neat, clean and good service from the staff. In particular we had excellent service from Aarthi at breakfast.
Only stayhere if you’re on business. Not really uitable for tourists unless you want to spend a day or two in Port Louis (though why would you?) Pleasant pool, good gym and spa, conformable rooms and bed. Wifi reception poor, and very slow. Needs improvement. Bar service leaves a lot to be desired. Bar staff hanging around the bar chatting, while guests are waiting to be served outside.
The simplest description to say is: Business Hotel. If you want a nice hotel at Port Louis at a reasonable amount, this is your hotel. The hotel is cool, its restaurant is ok. Rooms are nice. They offer 500 MB only each 24 Hours, if you want more, you have to pay around 600 MUR (US$ 17). There is a free boat ride to go to the Caudan Waterfront and Labourdonnais Hotel. They offer a FREE Yacht ride on Mondays and Thursdays to see the sunset in the ocean (Drinks are not FREE). There is a Happy Hour on Friday Night at the bar. I have a comment that they collect 100% of the Fees at the check-in.
The hotel has great amenities for the business traveller - gym, heated pool, spa, close proximity to the CBD. It also has a great bar with tantalising cocktails - I do wish though that "happy hour" was everyday! The hotel has a ferry service to the waterfront which is idyllic. The hotel really tries to bring the beach feel by having sand and deck chairs to add to the atmosphere. Only let down was housekeeping - room was never cleaned, bed was just made. I also complained about the bar fridge that was not working throughout my stay.

In spite of the notoriety of SUFFREN I believe especially that it is a whole team that makes SUFFREN a great hotels renowned then do not change anything Mr. Thierry RIOUX, Mr. TANAY, Mrs. Isabelle VEERIGADU, Mrs. Sandrie and the whole team Our only recommendation for Suffren is to set up an ecological program for the recovery of waste (plastic and bottle) in the water otherwise everything is perfect overall.
Stopped at Port Louis marina for lunch on the way back from St.Georges, what a beautiful setting for lunch, great menu, good food, friendly staff, thoroughly enjoyed it. Give it a try for yourself you won't be disappointed 🍴🥘🍹🍻
