Well we loved it - we have stayed in 5 star hotels on the island and this felt 5 stars in many ways. Albeit the hotel felt a bit tired in some places - the overall attentiveness and support and friendliness from the staff all over and in all aspects is what made this feel so special. What a wonderful location and we would come back here in an instant. The food was good - loved shells and loved cumin. 180 was very good for a buffet and the choices were vast. travelling with young children was made easy by everyone here thank you!

From the time we arrived at hotel, service was pathetic. Firstly my wife left standing at entrance hold bags and suitecases while I am instructed to park my car. Nothing really explained... Arrive in room phone does not work. Have to call reception from mobile to order room service. room service and arrives an hour later cold. No salt and pepper. Request and arrives 25 mins later. Somebody arrives to check phone with no tools or spares. Cannot fix says going to phone. Arrives 2 hours later, still not fixed... next day... Order breakfast, 2 fried eggs, 2 slices brown toast, chicken sausage, and pot of coffee. What arrives is 2 cold omelettes, 2 slices cold white toast, coffee and milk... on top of we have breakfast included in rates, but what they fail to tell you is that if you order room service you pay full rates.. on top of that the guy is sniffing and snorting over food because he has a cold... this was only one evening and morning. Thank goodness we only stayed one night... reception not very supportive when lodging complaint. Wish you luck if you stay at hotel.

What a great vacation resort. We have just returned from a lovely stay at the le meridian in Mauritius. The place has great ocean views, excellent staff who provide a warm welcome and service and some great restaurants. The resort offers good accommodation, water sports including water skiing for free for all inclusive package. The Cumin, Shells and the La faya restaurant are really good quality evening eateries. For lunch you have the Papaya bar which again serves good food. The manager there Roopesh is really accommodating with requests and his service and maner is second to none. Also the manager at La faya Nitesh was really great and once he got to know us, he would know exactly what we wanted. All the staff are helpful and provide a great service. I look forward to going there again.

My partner and I were amazed by the room. Wonderfully big with a living room, two bathrooms, and an amazing balcony. The view was breathtaking from the balcony. Food also was tasty. However, our room was far away from the reception and out key cards kept on being disactivated, even though we did not keep it near an electronic device. And the phone in the room never worked ! One afternoon we asked for housekeeping services and no one came over. We went out on a Friday night and came back quite late, to our surprise, there was no electricity in the room ! Complete blackout ! Even the maintenance could not fix it. Took them more than 2 hours to fix it. Someone stole my partner’s perfume and upon checkout we informed the reception. One security guy came to us and wrote down the complaint. No apologies nothing ! We were quite disappointed ! There were also no gestures from the front office team. We waited for the front office manager for over 30mins and he never came to meet us. Even though the room was beautiful and food was yummy, service was mediocre !

My partner and I chose Mauritius for our summer holiday. The flight from Gatwick was long but once we arrived on this beautiful island we knew it was worth it. When we got to the hotel I was shattered, and we were offered cold towels and drinks before we were taken to our room on a buggy. We were upgraded to the Nirvana section which was lovely. We could watch the beautiful sunset from our balcony and visited the Nirvana bar almost every night. Our room was lovely and spacious and we were given wine and fresh fruit on arrival. The food varied depending on which restaurant you visited... the Indian one was fantastic and there were many vegetarian options. Thank you Chef Khan for your delicious cuisine. Breakfast at La Faya was great, and the burgers and sandwiches for lunch were good. 180 buffet had a good selection in the evening and for breakfast, although do not leave your table unattended or your food will be eaten by birds! It would have been good to see more vegetarian options at restaurants other than Cumin. And as others have said, some of the buildings are a little tired and would benefit from refurbishment. My partner and I actually got engaged while we were here and the manager very kindly arranged a special table and bottle of champagne for us.All the staff we met were lovely, especially those at the bars. Professional and attentive. We arranged some day trips with Summertime tours which were amazing and really helped us to see the reality of life on the island. We did a tour of the north and one of the south which we would recommend. A holiday we will never forget - thank you!

Great hotel, especially for the kids. Swimming pool and beach close together so we can keep an eye on both. Within 20minutes of Grand Baie for shopping and souvenirs. Staff were extremely friendly, considerate and helpful.

To start off my review, I will say this: I have travelled all over the world, and even stayed at other Meridien locations. This hotel is the worst I've ever seen, and I would never recommend it. There were a handful of staff members that were remarkable, but out of fear of them potentially receiving some sort of backlash from being in my favor, I will not be giving them a shout out. After an almost 3 day travel period, we were relieved to get to the hotel. But that ended quickly when we were greeted by a trainee who was trying to give us the usual welcome speech, but it was made difficult by his lack of knowledge. So a superior was called over to help him. We were tired and smelled awful. All we wanted was a shower and some water. Our room wasn't ready, which was fine since we were early for the normal check in time. We made our way over to one of their restaurants, La Faya. We quickly discovered a waitress with a terrible attitude and portions so small they did not match the insane price tag. Our room (301) was so far, it may as well have been on mainland Africa itself. Not to mention the decay of the room, lack of servicing, and fruit flies EVERYWHERE. We complained and spoke to a manager, little did we know we would become well acquainted with him. We were moved to another room on the other side of the hotel, but closer to the lobby area. Only stay in room 328 if you wish to be woken up every morning at 4am by bird chirping constantly, and for about 2 hours. Without recounting the trip in every detail, I will say this (these are a few things I can recount): - when I stated a complaint, my husband was looked at and addressed, not me. - the drinks are bad, and usually only halfway filled - the hotel rooms were not regularly serviced. - the language barrier is so great that when I said we would leave for the airport at X time, we were told no we should leave at Y time. When I expressed confusion, I was not given any clarification, so I left and asked the cab driver. - wrong food and drinks delivered a lot. - we were chased after dinner, a waiter waving the bill, even though we had already paid. - our hotel room smelled like cigarette smoke the last night of our stay, and we do not smoke. We have just returned from a wonderful week in the hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Almost all rooms have a wonderful view of the sea; there are plenty of loungers available around the pool and on the beach; great choice of restaurants and the all inclusive deal was good value with the option to sample other dishes for an additional cost. The on-site gym is pretty well equipped and open 24 hours, there are a variety of bars to choose from - some with entertainment and some nice and quiet. Barista made Illy coffee is included in the all inclusive!

We have been at Le meridien for our wedding. We've stayed 10 days. At first glance we were astonished. Beautiful hotel, the nicest people on the earth, marvelous garden and of course the Indian Ocean. We were acommodated in Nirvana section for 7 days and we can only recommend you to do so. The rooms are much prettier than in main complex and the room service is without doubt the best. The area is pretty quiet and more peaceful than the main complex. Our room maid was Sheila and during our stay we had no problem. She was very kind, precise and always tried to help us with everything we needed. During our stay we haven't met better room maid. Try to get her as a room maid and you will be satisfied for sure. The only negative of Nirvana is the thing, that it is quite far from the boat house and other restaurants, but you could see it like a positive side - you can burn some calories from all the food you will eat there. After our arrival we came to La Faya for a lunch. So many new tastes! Then we've tried another three restaurants. The Shells quickly became our favourite one. If you want to try some more typical food in Maurice you should totally go there. You can't go wrong with the Fish of the day on menu. Best fishes we've ever ate. Also we've met some really nice people. The staff there deserves some salary increase, but probably everyone in Le Meridien deservers it. Waiter and waitresses at Shells were just perfect. They can help you with choosing, they don't hesitate to do something extra for you, they'd love to have some nice conversation with you, if they have time. If you see there Mehfooza, Rhea, Artee, Tatiah or Jaya all your needs will be satisfied and even more. It is not fair to not mention another staff, but that are the peoples we will remember forever, because they made our stay special. Then there is a boat house. In all inclusive package you can try there a plenty of watersports for free, like yachting, waterskiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and snorchling. Usually there are some sellers around boat house, who are selling some trips, for example for swimming with dolphins. We've made there some good friends, because people in boat house are really cool. If you are going there right now, be sure to met with Kingsley on Jetty while you try to stand up on water skiis. As I already mentioned, we have been there for our wedding, which was exactly as we dreamed about it. Our wedding coordinator Nadhir will make also your dreams come true. But you have to be a little bit lucky. The weather at Mauricius is simply unpredictable and if there would be some just a small rain before the ceremony, it will be moved under the roof to the bar and that is not so magic like a beach. But during Our Day Nadhir used some magic tricks and it wasn't rainy :). Well it was, but just after the ceremony so no on really cared. Also we have been on some trips and bought a lot of souvenirs, but do not buy many things from hotel shops, they are a little bit overpriced. The same for taxi. We choose the Sam taxi and ot was really good choice. There is just one thing we weren't satisfied with and it is the speed of service in restaurant, especially at La Faya, but it is nothing you couldn't stand with thah beatiful view. :) We are really looking forward to spend more time in this paradise.
