Nice hotel with several nice pools, hot tubs & a water slide. Two outside bars that also serve food. Cave grotto bar was pretty cool. Right on the ocean, although, not a very wide beach and it's kind of rocky. Several restaurant choices, although 2 of the 3 are very expensive and the other isn't that keep either. You can can snacks and sandwiches in both the convenience stores. the store at the residence hotel is a lot better. We didn't like the Luau. It just wasn't our thing. For almost $400 for three of us, I would have rather went out for a very nice dinner. The food wasn't that good at all. Not much of a vibe at the pools or too much going on. Didn't even have music playing anywhere. Everyone just sat around and did their own thing. This hotel is walking distance to Whalers Village, takes you about 15 minutes...but you can also take the free trolley.

They appear to have the nicest grounds on Kaanapali Beach although they are the furthest resort south and the beach area is not huge. Good ocean swimming is just a kick walk up though, not a big deal. The pools are solid. The rooms themselves were fine, slightly dated but lobby, grounds, pools, etc was up to par. We would stay here again next time we go to Maui.

Excellent hotel and location. I would definitely stay here again! Food was great.

Amazing grounds and likely the best beachfront hotel.

It was fun and nice and everything I thought the food was overpriced

The Housekeeping (Manager Noel) Paul.. was EXCELLENT THANK YOU! You make our vacations pleasant. Thank you so much!

Nice Hotel. When you passed any staffs, they always say Aloha. Pools are good but guests tends to save the pool chairs with towel. There's a bar by the pool where people drink. I wonder if they pees there because it gets really stinks at the end of the day.

The best part of our room was the view of the beach. If it hadn't overlooked the beach, I think it would have been depressing. The bathroom is in major need of updating and renovation. The hotel stores and restaurants were nice. My husband loved the convenience store where you can buy sandwiches. The pool/ beach area was nice, but it was impossible to get a seat by the main pool. We ended up using the Hyatt Residence pool, which was less busy. We rented cabanas by the beach one day which was really nice. In terms of service, it was a bit disappointing. I had told the hotel it was our honeymoon, and aside from saying congratulations, they did not do anything special such as provide a bottle of champagne. It is the little touches that people remember. I also ordered a drink at the pool and asked the server if there was a napkin. She said no and walked away without offering one. We did have a pleasant time and loved being in the West Maui area, but there is room for improvement.

I booked through Orbitz, so that could have been part of the problem, because I stayed here before and love the resort for a partial ocean view I could see the entire beach. We asked for a partial ocean view ahead of time and we ended up in a room where the balcony was below the roof of another building so your view was a rooftop and side of a building and a small amount of mountain view. . I called the front desk and asked to be moved to another room. They told me that they were completely booked and could not move us. A minuet later we saw a cockroach in our room my grandkids were screaming and getting on the bed. I called and told them I was not staying in that room, so then they did move me to another room with a better view but still not nearly as nice as the year before. The tub faucet kept sticking and was clear and you could see it was full of mold and there was mold in the cracks of the tile. For paying over $500.00 per night, this hotel needs to upgrade and be kept cleaner. We love the resort, the pool, the birds and the beach is nice and the brunch is good and I got a real nice massage at the spa.

First floor room with "two balconies" The second hand smoke smell was terrible as it was near the front of the hotel. The room location was awful. The bed was uncomfortable and the hotel has not been updated in ages. The hotel luau was average at best. Totally not worth the price. If I stay in Maui again I will not be here!

First time staying at this hotel - 3 pools to choose from, right on the beach, grounds were lovely with beautiful tropical flowers, birds and even penguins! Staff very friendly, no high pressure time share selling!

Hotel staff was amazing. The hotel was nice however the restaurants on the hotel property were pretty pricey. Rooms were nice but seemed a bit outdated, could use a facelift. Especially being next door to their 5 star Residence Club.

Power was out for how many hours we have to wait house keeping can’t clean

Great resort and amentities. Great onsite restaurant japengo. Rooms are bit dated but clean.

Overall the hotel and staff are wonderful and made the stay enjoyable. However, the rooms are outdated and the beds were uncomfortable. In the future, it would be nice if the rooms could be remodeled, along with the bathrooms. Besides that, the stay was amazing, relaxing and very fun. All of the staff was polite, kind and always ready to help.

It's the little things that matter. Figurine cases in the shopping concourse need dusting. Landscaping eroded in area that expose the faux rocks. Wallpaper seams splitting. Maybe take some of the money spent on the numerous "vacation club solicitations and put it back into the property?

Bathroom design is weird, u have to stand behind toilet to get the door open, then squeeze urself between toilet and bathtub to get out. Not ideal after shower, i dont ant to touch toilet after a shower. Self parking is limited and spaces are very small. Parking is a chore by itself. Very small sand area which is sloped. Mariott and other hotels have a bigger sand area and flatter. Breakfast sucks, not worth the money, evem when its included. They only change 1-2 dishes. Mostly carb choices. No omlette station for the price. Dont waste ur money on breakfast. Everything else was good

I had a very good experience at this hotel, especially at check-in. The staff member who helped me check in went above and beyond, as far as friendliness and helping me figure out an issue I had because I made a mistake when booking my room. We really enjoyed our time at this hotel.
