Peak View
Peak View, and aptly named so, is a beautifully presented 2 bedroom cottage in Hackney, a stone cottage furnished to a high standard with stunning views out over the Matlock Hills. In a popular location near the Peak District National Park, nestled between the popular destinations of Darley Dale and Matlock, Peak View makes the perfect destination for any couples looking for a peaceful getaway to avid hikers looking for a place to base.
At the front of the building is a little seating area to look West out over the landscape, not before heading into a small reception and then ushered into the cosy living room, where the log burner makes a beautiful centrepiece and is nothing short of delightful on a colder evening.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all your culinary needs, with electric fire for a quick warm up in the morning whilst making breakfast! A dining table with seating for 4 sits off the kitchen to the rear where you will also find a private courtyard to enjoy the stars on a clear night.
Heading upstairs from the kitchen is the master bedroom, a large double bed to rest upon, and views out over the South West. Another double bedroom for extra guests and a bathroom renovated to a high standard with shower.
The popular village of Matlock is a short 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk through the picturesque area - there are numerous pubs, cafes and independently run shops here. Once famed for its hydro and spa treatments, scenic surroundings such as Hall Leys Park with its boating lake, riverside walks, tennis courts and skateboard park. For a trip back in time, hop on a steam or diesel train operated by Peak Rail from Matlock to Rowsley, or head for nearby Crich Tramway Village and pay an old penny to ride on a vintage tram. Guests can alternatively head for the Heights of Abraham and take a cable car ride between spectacular limestone cliffs and wooded slopes for panoramic views of the Derwent Valley.

The cottage is in a fantastic location.
We stayed for a month and found the area, the views and the neighbours wonderful.
The only issue is there are few bits that need topping up in the kitchen, for example more cutlery wouldn’t go amiss.

Lovely, clean space with modern kitchen and nice decor
Lovely, clean space with modern kitchen and nice decor. Easy check-in and out due to lockbox. No problems parking near the house and the area was quiet with beautiful views out the front. Asked a few days before for an early check-in and was told to ask again 48 hours prior to check-in, did so and didn't get a reply.
Had to ask twice about a cot bed but there was one there so no issues. There was also no salt, pepperoil for cooking (I don't think it's unreasonable to expect there to be some) but there was some nice coffee and chocolate biscuits so swings and roundabouts. Overall was a very pleasant experience and would recommend.

Great little cottage but the problem with the hob needs resolving.
The location was great, on street parking was no problem, the views were spectacular and the property almost lived up to every expectation
We could not get the electric hob to work satisfactorily, the rings would not achieve sufficient heat to use the frying pan supplied. We eventually used the grill which was great. There was no instruction book to enable us to check that we were using the controls correctly.

Ideal for Chatsworth and Hardwick Hall - comfortable and clean
The small house is well located, overlooking the valley between Bakewell and Matlock. Access is easy if you have a car - less so by public transport. Beautiful view, as advertised, from the small terrace and front room. Everything was spic-and-span (but only rudimentary provisions of tea and coffee - so bring your own sugar and rubbish bags). The interior carefully and tastefully designed to Farrow and Ball standards. Kitchen equipment adequate (but we only used warm-ups). Bathroom and shower very clean and comfortable (big head shower). Lots to see nearby: Chatsworth and Haddon Hall (about 20 mins), Hardwick Hall (about 35 mins), Cromford (early industrial revolution) - take your Pevsner!
We struggled a little with the lock box. And it is sad to see plastic-covered windows in all the historic properties around the valley (except in conservation areas). The house is no exception, but there is one original window between the kitchen and the little winter garden at the back
