Good size room. Comfortable bed. Lovely pillows. No coffee/tea facilities in room. Free wifi. Tv only has CNN otherwise all French. 10 minutes drive from airport in middle of factories. Not near main town but bus from airport takes you there.
Room was very small and not cleaned to our expectations. No frills hotel. Shuttle to airport was first come, first served. Restaurant was closed, no other food options. Front desk staff not very helpful.
We arrived at the hotel at 7pm. They had a Mexican theme in the reception. The atmosphere was buzzing and the staff were friendly and helpful. The whole experience was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. The pool was super, the food was good and the rooms were spotless. The ambience and welcoming nature of the hotel staff made our last night of our holiday special. We have stayed in quite a few hotels and this really stood out in the customer service it displayed. Well done!
The hotel was great for a stopover. The shuttle was very efficient but the phone link from the airport didn't work second time we used it. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfy beds. Would have 5 stars but for fact the evening meal was very poor and overpriced. Dry tiny chicken breast in hard bun with mound of chips and no sign of a veg....but breakfast was very pleasant.
We were in Avignon scheduled to take a train to Nice travelling with my wife, sister and brother in-law arrived at 11:00 am on June 23. Decided to stay a night instead in Marseille, much to our horrific regret. Attended to by Raja upon check-in. She, without a tinge of anything pleasant, that check in is at 12noon. Elected to wait in the sitting area of the lobby. In the meantime, my wife asks Raja how to get to the city and questions any normal clueless tourist would quiz. Her response with a glum expression was one of impatience, rudeness and most unhelpful. Past 12nn, my sisters asks if the rooms are ready. Her reply, I'll bring the keys to you in the lobby. Ten (10) minutes past and we decide to approach her colleague, Anouska, smiling face and pleasant, gives us our door cards rooms 314 & 316 in a minute. Had no choice but to have dinner in this hotel. 15 minutes just watching 2 waitresses walking past us unmindful that we existed at all. Had to ask the male manager to be seated finally. The heavy/stocky built waitress, who is aware that we are not French insists on speaking to us in French, with not a word of English or even an attempt to get our orders right. Our main course was served to us after an hour & a half. We had to call the attention of the tall female supervisor. What an excruciating ordeal. Gives one the impression that Ibis is exclusively for the French speaking. This was not about language but rather a bad bad bad attitude towards foreigners. This waitress was unfriendly, impatient, arrogant & insensitive. We were so upset, we failed to get her name. Free shuttle from the hotel to MP2 every 15mins. Have to take a bus from there to the city of Marseille, about 25 mins. Clean room with extra pillows, no room safe, no ref. AC good, average wifi speed. Suggest to take the tram in the center of Marseille that takes you all around the city & up to the highest point of Marseille, Basilique Notre-Dame. If you do not have the need to be beside the Marseille airport, please, at all cost, avoid this hotel.
One of the supposed benefits of the hotel is the free shuttle to the terminal. However calling it from the terminal does not work as the interphone is not working properly and staff simply hang up on you if you cannot understand them. Mentioned this to reception staff and they could not care less. Rooms are standard ibis ie very sparse and basic and ever so slightly depressing. The food in the Courtepaille restaurant is quite bad and staff are unpleasant and surly. Only to be recommended if you really need to catch an early flight next day.
I’ve visited all the hotels at Marseille airport and Ibis offers by far the warmest welcome. The cosy restaurant and comfortable rooms make it a perfect overnight stop for the family. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. Their attittude is summed up by the colourful graffitti on their super convenient airport shuttle: you get all the benefits of a reliable brand with an extra dollop of ‘love’ and 'peace’!
Arrival was too late in the evening to catch our train connection so stayed over at the Ibis, as we have done on several previous occasions. Hotel is very close to the airport and an excellent shuttle service runs continuously. Hotel room was nice, bed and bathroom spotless and a first class restaurant with very efficient staff. Check in and out was easy. They are used to dealing with big numbers so we never felt any stresss or dissatisfaction.
Airport shuttle runs frequently and takes about 5 minutes. The staff speak many languages well. The room, a double, was clean and compact, though it would have been a challenge for 2 people/2 bags. Soundproofing very good; did not hear a plane all night. The hotel is well maintained. The pool looked refreshing [ I did not go in]. Outdoor dining terrace very attractive but the food was unremarkable. That is too bad in Provence where food at the same price point is usually quite good.
Don't expect any luxury, a big bathroom or other extraordinary service. But besides the very friendly and very well english speaking stuff there are two unbeatable reasons for booking this hotel: A two minutes drive to the airport (or a free shuttle bus every 15 minutes) and a breakfast starting at 4.00am! If you think you could enjoy breakfast in the airport lounge or - if you are not allowed to enter a vip lounge - buy food from one of the restaurants, you will perhaps fail: for example you depart at Hall 2 using Star Alliance airlines but the Lounge is located in Hall 3 you cannot enter! The restaurants don't open before 5.30am so if you have a early flight use the hotel breakfast for just 9,90 Euro - it's not bad and worth the moderate pricing. By the way: Bad food including a coffee costs you more than 15 Euro at the airport. The windows cannot be opended but are noise canceling - you don't hear anything from the airport or aircrafts. For staying one night at the airport this hotel is the perfect choice - not more but also not less. The 4* rating applies to this purpose exactly, not for staying more than one night.
