I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Alksar Riad & Spa. The room was clean, private, and comfortable, and I had a lovely breakfast on the roof every morning. When I booked my stay I had concerns about the location, but in the end the location was perfect. It’s within the medina, so it is plenty close to the Djema al Fna, but it is also far enough from the chaos of the city that it can truly be a refuge. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
My family and I used the Riad Al Ksar Spa for hammam, massage and facial on several occasions during our recent visit to Marrakech. At all times the staff were very welcoming and looked after us beautifully. The hammam took place in a very calm, intimate space and was done very thoroughly so we all felt wonderfully refreshed and clean. Massages were also excellent and afterwards it was lovely to go up to the rooftop terrace for a mint tea and enjoy the views across the city to the distant mountains. They are also well priced compared to other places and give a much more personal service. Highly recommended.
This was our first trip to Marrakech & we were really pleased with our choice of accommodation. Close enough to all the places of interest but far enough away to get some peace & quiet after the hustle & bustle of the souks. We stayed in room 1 which had a lovely internal private balcony off the hotel room. We travelled with our 14 year old son & despite having an additional single bed in our room there was plenty of space. The bathroom was lovely with loads of hot water whatever the time of day. We enjoyed breakfast on the roof terrace & took time out to enjoy the sun at the end of a busy day walking around the souks. Oliver & the team could not have been more welcoming & gave us all the key information we needed in order to navigate around Marrakech. We opted to take a couple of excursions which Oliver arranged for us - quad biking & a visit to the waterfalls. We opted for private trips in both cases & were really pleased that we did despite a small additional cost. Both were well worth the money. My husband & I also made arrangements to have a dual treatment in the spa - hamman, scrub & massage - a 2 hour treatment. Really relaxing & great that it's on site. The only negative thing I can think of is that the Wi-Fi is not the best & can be a bit temperamental. Not so much of an issue for my husband & I but a life essential for 14 year old you tube addict! Finally I would recommend using the transfer facility that the riad offer at a small cost, as there is no way we would have found the riad without the guidance of the driver. Great place & would definitely recommend staying here.
Marrekech was on my bucket list for years and we managed to get there in October.Temperature was in the thirties and only dropped to Twenty ish at night.Perfect base for exploring the old town and souks. hotel is as you would expect old and hidden down a narrow alley way but when you enter you are in a beautiful garden with spa pool and palm trees. Staff are very friendly and can organise any trips you fancy at a far lower cost the the usual agencies. The rooftop bar and resteraunt give a great view of the city and the sunsets are fabulous. Breakfast is a simple affair but very filling. Bread,Yoghurt, jam and coffee. A menu for dinner is basic but very good quality. The beds were huge and comfortable and clean and bathroom was modern and functional.Shower had lots of power too. This is a family owned hotel and doesnt have many rooms so even though you are in the town it is very quiet. We hired a carriage and toured the area all day visiting palaces souks and even a tannery which stunk but was interesting. We had 4 days there and it was enough to see the sights and have a trip up to the Atlas mountains.
We stayed in 2013. The riad is well located, about a 15 minute walk from the main market place. It offers its own spa treatments and the French owner/manager is very helpful and pleasant and speaks very good english. One problem we had was that the air con was not particularly in our rom and we had to have fans to cool it down, but am sure that has since been fixed/upgraded.
We stayed a total of - and four nights at this very stylish readhidden away in a quiet corner of the medina. The staff were attentive, not pushy, and offered helpful suggestions and advice. The one improvement that would make a huge difference would be air-conditioning or a fan. The plunge pool provided welcome relief from the heat we in Marrakesh at the time of our visit.
We took advantage of the Easter weekend and went to Marrakech to explore the city and enjoy some warmer weather. the team at Al Ksar Riad were terrific, and we had a wonderful stay. They were friendly, attentive to our questions and requests, and we would happily stay there again. The riad is well situated, quiet at night and just a short walk to be in the thick of things. We also took advantage of the spa offer and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would definitely recommend staying there.
Lovely stay at Riad Al Ksar. All the team are extremely friendly and provide top notch service. Really a home away from home. The Riad is comfortable, rooms well equipped and peaceful. Location works well, with a short walk to the beginning of the pedestrianised streets to the 'big square'. Staying here gives a good local feel, but with the comfort and security of a good hotel. See you next time! DC
Hidden a little away from the main street you'll find this gem of a Riad. As with most riads it's hard to identify from the outside, but inside it reveals a small oasis with a cozy, tranquil atmosphere. We had just arrived and were seated at the little courtyard of the Riad, when the owner, Oliviér, greeted us and shared his infinite wisdom of where to go for shopping, good restaurants, and all the do's and dont's of the Medina. Our room was fabulously furnished and had a little inside balcony, living room, and a gorgeous bathroom. One of the few rules of the riad was, that there be silence from 22h to 10h, which made for a nice silent stay. The staff and owner went out of their way on every given occasion to ensure our needs were met. Breakfast was ok except a little light on choice, and we only dined once, and were very pleased. The top terrasse makes for a great place to relax when the temperature allows for it. We stayed in the beginning of february with temperatures ranging from 19 to 21 C, and the level of ambient sound was no way near what would be expected in the middle of the Medina. The riad is just a good 10-15 minutes walk from the main square of commerce Jemaa el-Fnaa (Infinitely longer if you allow yourself getting hijacked by the merchants!). But if you're so inclined, there's easy access to taxis just 3 minutes away from the riad. If ever we go to Marrakech again, this would be our riad of choice! Thanks to Oliviér and his crew for a lovely week :-)
Olivier's eye for style makes this a beautiful place to return to after a day in the town. It is very calm wth beautiful, quixotically decorated rooms and a roof terrace where you can breakfast whilst looking out over the city- a few pointers, though; first, don't book through an agent (we made this mistake) - best to book through Olivier at the Riad direct - he will sort out a taxi link from the airport, too - and make sure the price you pay is right. We have seldom felt so looked after as we did on this trip. The food was fantastic, too - thank you all!
