The pool is an incredible size for a city hotel and such fun for kids. There is plenty of outdoor space for sunbathing. We booked through BA holidays as it was such a good deal. Our expectations were very low due to the poor reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised. For the money we paid, it was a bargain. The breakfast was lovely. Some very pretty and authentic decor throughout. Within the rooms, they are perfectly fine with good balconies and good satellite TV. It is not the most glamorous hotel, but I think people need to remember how inexpensive the room rate is. The staff are friendly and within the area there are local shops to buy everyday provisions. A great base for exploring the city. We actually stayed in October 2014, but I never got around to writing a review!
Do not come too this hotel for 4 Star luxury , this is Morroco 4 star probable a equivalent too our 2 star ,the hotel is acceptable clean and the staff helpful. In the room the aircon does its pitiful best against the heat and the room was kept too a good standard , around the pool area the staff kept litter too a minimum the pool was cleaned every morning and there was enough sunbeds for those that wished too use them. Breakfast there was plenty of fruit cereal and breads as well as Juice and coffee. Two problems it took two days too get towels and there is NO shop in the hotel however there are shops only a short walk away.
When we first arrived to the are we noticed there was a few run down buildings in the complex which did make us a little worried but they was no need to panic. once inside we saw how beautiful the hotel is with its charming morroccan style and frindly staff. We could not check in until 2pm but arrived at 11.40am so had a short wait. Our bags where watched by the porters and we quickly located the bar and seating areas. When we did get our rooms 63 and 64( we went for 2 joining rooms 1 double 1 twin with door into each ) the first thing we noticed is that they were quite dark dark wood all over but then soon realised this is the style and keeps your eyes from burning on reflections from the blistering sun. The beds are extremely comfortable and ever so big you need the extra space to keep apart a little while sleeping as it was very hot at night. The air conditioning was not the best but did take the sting out of the room the kids room was better than ours. The bathrooms are a good size and has everything you expect including hair dryer bath and over bath shower separate toilet and bidet. We had a lovely garden view from both balconies. The pool is a good size very deep in some areas so beware if your not a strong swimmer and it was cleaned every morning by the pool guard. The gardens are nice and a good amount of sunbeds. We did have the inclusive breakfast which was very good and plenty too but did not eat here other than that so cannot comment on other meals. There was a few things that if you let it could ruin your stay but we overlooked them as little niggles. Such as on our arrival we had 1 towel between 4 of us and it took 5 hrs or so to get more even though we was told many times it would be 5 minutes. And getting our safe switched on also took a very long time again we were told 5 minutes. The safe has to be paid for I think it was 150 dirham for the week around £12 and this was paid to a outside company that comes to your room and activates it. There is taxis right outside the hotel and and the end of the street is a bus stop the no1 bus runs straight to the medina and terminates there so nice and easy to get to everything it costs 4dm each about 30p. Overall I would say this is a lovely hotel with lots of charm and recommend staying here for location and price. Do not be put off by bad reviews go see it for yourself and make your own mind up you may be surprised like I was.
Its mad, im still in the hotel for a couple days, lets see if the issue gets resolved. Come back yesterday after 5 6ish in the evening, phone went missing from bedside table and my nephews battery pack was gone aswell. After telling abdoul at concierge yesterday, house keeping staff now giving my sister funny looks. Overall the stays going well, staff are nice, dont let them mug you, the bar sells water at 10 dirhams but they were selling at 20 dirhams when we first arrived. Rooms are lovely though.
This holiday was the 4th time I returned to the tichka Salam. Booked 2 rooms for the five of us. Was given 2 triple rooms straight on to the pool. Great view on the pool. And so practical. I am so fed up reading the posts of people. The wifi does work in the rooms. The floor in the bathroom is tiled not carpeted .Cleaning is done everyday and if you are not satisfied the cleaning ladies will oblige and re do what you ask The decor is far from out dated , it is quite classic Moroccan decor Both fridges were working in our rooms Flowers , fruits and water were in our rooms on arrival . Now nothing is perfect in this world but one thing for sure if something is not working or broken and you ask at reception , it will be fixed the same day. The director of the hotel is everyday outside by the restaurant and all the staff is extremely helpful . Madame Touriya is the manager and she is the most helpful and kindest person I know , she will do her upmost to make your stay very pleasant. The hotel also have a spa with hamam and the most amazing masseuse , I got the most fantastic massage and a great facial treatment The pool is well managed and you can swim until midnight Will go back next year
We stayed here because my friend booked it for us the first room we had was hot the aircon didn't work pillows lumpy. Then the next morning we changed rooms ok got a better room but then the fridge dosent work and the power points only some worked so couldn't charge our phones. Then came back after a day out room cleaned ok but the balcony door was left open. I did not know how the safe worked was not given instructions at check in, you have to buy a card for 25DHM but nobody mentioned it. So I stashed my Australian dollars in my case bad move!! First you can't change Aussie dollars here in marrakech and then when I counted my money after finding the balcony door open I was short $530 all random notes taken so it looks like it's not missing. Complained to the desk lucky my friend is local so can converse and the manager took one hour to address the situation. In the morning the hotel owner refused to acknowledge the money was stolen and targeted one poor young lady who was apparently the cleaner though I had never seen her near my room. Any of the staff can access your room as they just make new key cards when they want. They told me if I wanted a report to go to the police and put this lady in jail!!!! So I didn't have time to go to police, or want to put the lady in jail!! can't claim on insurance and left in tears with no sorry or perhaps a discount off the bill. Just made to feel like I was lying. They also charge extra to what you book through your booking agent. I booked for $49 they charged $70 Also like others before breakfast terrible beyond words but as it was Ramadan no other places open to eat. The floors dirty, then they painted the pool in the morning so couldn't swim before we had to have a major drama with the staff over the stolen money. So $530 down and really upset to end my time in Marrakech like this.
We have stayed for 6 days in Le Tichka in a standard double room. I am sure, that ages ago the hotel was nice, but now it looks awful, the dirtiest hotel I have ever seen. The bathroom was mouldy, stains all over the carpet, even the mirror and taps looked like they haven't been cleaned for ages. The room had safety box for any values, but you have to pay extra to use it. The main reason we booked this hotel was the swimming pool, what was really nice, but they let in non-residents to use it too(probably for some extra money) what is not really pleasant, considering it should be available for hotel guests only. The key cards didn't work, so every time I tried to open my door on the 1st floor I had to go back to the reception for resetting the card,it was really frustrating. I haven't seen manager anywhere and the staff was just sitting or walking around aimlessly most of the time. The wifi was working fine. I wouldn't visit the place again.
The price varies all the time! Right now it shows 30 USD, and I would have expected the service and room for that price, but I was there for a conference and the price was very different. My experience was similar to the others. The pictures look beautiful but the rooms are terrible. Huge stains on the floors, and dirty rooms. The adaptor the man sold me in the store broke. The WiFi didn't work well. You could see the hotel has tons of potential, but the glory days are over.
This used to be a lovely hotel in Marrakech but it has gone way downhill. I stayed here in 2003 and it was charming and lovely. Now it still has good bones but it doesn't seem anyone really cares about it. It is shabby and worn but reasonably priced. The breakfast is very mediocre, and used to be excellent. The pillows are lumpy and the beds are much too soft. The Bellman and desk people were pleasant but if you run into the head of Housekeeping be sure you are wearing your armor! She is a nasty, unpleasant and horrible woman! We had already seen her temper when we asked to leave our bags in the room when I had asked for early check in. The ladies were still cleaning and all we wanted to do was leave our bags. She was SCREAMING at the Bellman for bringing us to the room, but he was nice and patient and put them in the room and we all escaped. Had another run in with her when I asked the desk for one more bath towel and one more pillow for my friend and myself. Wow! That was a crime in her book. She came to the room and argued with me and insisted that each person gets one towel (shabby) and one pillow. She left saying she would be back, but I knew she was lying, and of course, I was right. Never to be seen again. The pool area was once lovely with lounges and tables with chairs. I tried to sit outside for a time but all the pillows were filthy. This hotel was once really lovely and still has such great potential---it is really too bad that no one seems to care about saving it. My friend is living in Morocco and still stays here because it is a good price but she closes her eyes to the problems. You will have to do the same.
Stay out of this place!!! We booked 4 rooms as we were traveling in group of 12 people. Upon arrival, they told us that they do not have enough rooms for us. They gave us 2 rooms with 9 sleeping places and stated that's all they can do. After extensive arguing and close to the midnight, they gave us another room. The room was not clean and smelled terrible. They did not have enough towels for everyone. A/C was not working. At some point, the was no running water for almost an hour. The toilets in some rooms were broken. Terrible service. The breakfast was really bad as well. We asked to talk to the manager and were told many times - later or tomorrow. We never saw the manager. It indeed looks like it was a nice place at some point long time ago, but there is no real management of the place. Real shame..
