Could need a renovation of both the place and the staff. A few nice people working there, but the majority - especially in the restaurant - could need a huge improvement in attitude. The food was not good, and the selection even worse - whatever you do, if you stay here, eat out instead - it is much better and a lot cheaper!
A pleasant and comfortable hotel with an excellent location. Despite being located close to the bustling Jemaa el Fna market square and the busy souks, the hotel is a quiet oasis with a nice garden and pool. Good service and tasty food. The rooms are spacious, although a little dated. Nice that the rooms have verandas.
I was worried about this hotel after reading the reviews. We (family of 4) stayed here for 4 nights and used it as a base mainly. Yes it's dated and needs some TLC but the staff were friendly and the rooms adequate. Location was why I chose this hotel and it was perfect in that respect. I wouldn't go for the evening meal in the hotel which cost 150dh per person because there wasn't much choice in the buffet and it is so much cheaper to eat out. Pool was ok but very cold. Wifi in the rooms was not good but on the balcony it was ok.
This hotel is in a good location, however, it really needs some repair. We had a family suite. The air con system was really insufficient (even keeping the curtains shut all day) and the whole place is in a state of disrepair. The first room we were given had a broken bathroom door which would not shut. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, they provided a small fridge we requested. The pool menu was quite good. We ate in the restaurant one evening and were very disappointed. I would not stay here again.
We spent 2 night at this hotel mid april, the hotel was half empty wish is good, staff are friendly. I was very satisfied considering what i paid for my stay, the location is just perfect !!! 10 minutes away from jamae el fnna place.
Myself and my partner stayed here for a week, we had a good stay but there are improvements that need to be made! Positives: The receptionist Youssef was lovely, very attentive to our needs, answered all of our questions and helped us with ordering a takeaway to our room! He is bilingual and speaks fluent English which is a perk so was able to translate things to us perfectly! The breakfast buffet was good there was a wide range of food that we could eat it was lovely to have freshly picked oranges in the morning. The restaurant lay out was nice and staff was friendly although many could not speak English. The bar was nice and the staff were friendly. The drinks were nicely prepared and the barman tailored my chosen drinks to my tastes which was also lovely. The pool was good and the outdoor activity (table tennis) added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Our room was ok, the view was ok, the facilities in the room were good and the overall cleanliness of the room was to our expectations. The indoor shop was nice, the shop manager was really lovely, very knowledgable of products, Marrakech, and sizing etc. There was a wide range of activities that could be done outside of the hotel, through the independent company that is located near the indoor entrance of the hotel. Negatives: The majority of staff do not 'speak your language' as advertised on booking.com. A high majority speak French and/ or Arabic which was made very clear through verbal interaction. Prior to arrival, I called the hotel several times to query things and was hung up on by a rude member of staff as she did not understand English. We had to use Youssef throughout the duration of our stay as he understood English perfectly. We felt that this was unfair on him because we feel that when working in a hotel that is going to attract all types of people, language and customer service should be integral aspects! Our room was falsely advertised online, it does look very different visually than in comparison to the online photos. We suspect that these photos were published in earlier years. Our bathroom could have been improved, there was mould in and around the bath, the water pressure was not good and the flush took awhile to get back to a reusable state. The pricing for the activities outside of the hotel (arranged by the private company) were very very expensive for two people which caused us not to invest in any! We noticed that on the outside of the hotel there are four stars below its name which we do not feel should be the case. We feel that three stars would be reasonable with improvements made. The hotel is not couple friendly and we would recommend for families or large groups. Overall, the stay was good but we would not stay here again.
This Hotel is nothing like the pictures it is so outdated and needs a complete makeover, everything is old and not working properly from the bathroom sink so the poolside lounges, even the chairs and tables in the restaurant need replacing, the rooms are less than average standard and no toiletries where provided. The staff where ok, I would never stay there again. The breakfast was so bland and not much to offer unless you like crossiants and sweets. No sliced bread!!! Cant say anything really good about it
Decent hotel with the standard hotel facilities. Pool area was clean and had a life guard. Staff were all nice and rooms were ok. Location is ok - close to the market. But you can hear the clattering at night. It's secure with security guards. The problem is they overcharged me and didn't refund me enough. I have emailed twice now and nobody is replying. Funny how they replied quickly before we arrived. I guess that is Morocco overall. Everyone is hustling to make a few extra dirhams. Tip: make sure you deal with any issues before leaving.
Having read some reviews below I was a little apprehensive about our trip but I must admit everything about this place was perfect to us. Staff were friendly and understood English no problem, breakfast was good as it set you up for the day. The pool was amazing, just what you need in 40+ degree weather. Wifi was great too, it even worked in our room which was a bonus. Some people have criticised that this is not a 4* hotel, it's Morocco we are talking about here not Europe. The room was just what we needed, cleaners provided fresh towels every day and the safe was added security to keep our passports and money safe. Saying that the TV and air con didn't work in our room but seeing as how we were only there for 3 nights we didn't really care. If you're looking for a place that's close to the main square and has a lovely pool to laze by and keep cool in during the hot days then look no further!!
We stayed for a few nights in June. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to us each day. Our room was nice and comfortable and the balcony is cute. Breakfast each morning was good, but the coffee machines aren't great (cappucino button makes a hot chocolate). The cleaners do often just open the door as they knock or before they even knock, and the drains are very slow to drain in the sink and bidet. Those are the only complaints we have about Hotel Chems. It is a four star Hotel, but that is probably according to Morocco standards. It is a great price though, especially considering the great location! We walked to the square every night and had dinner there. When returning to the Hotel in the evenings the security outside the Hotel check your room number before you can enter the property, which I find great as it prevents unwanted people from entering at night. Oh, we also did a quad excursion, booked through a desk at the Hotel, which was fun - but the Quads were not in great condition and need maintaining - so I'd rather book an excursion elsewhere if we return.
