This hotel is in a great central location and on first glance the rooms appear fresh as they have clearly been recently refurbished. However, it very quickly becomes clear that although there is fresh linen on the beds, the rooms are very old and dated. The carpet feels dirty, the bathrooms window have the wood rotting right through etc. The breakfast is nice and the staff pleasant enough...so I guess book it understanding its limitations.
This is quite the worst hotel we have stayed in. The bathroom was filthy, full of mildew and dated. There was a huge chip out of our bath. The bedroom was full of MDF furniture. The paint on the window both inside and out was badly chipped. The door to the room had previously been forced and unless it was double locked was completely insecure. The lift dropped a couple of inches when we got in. The hairdryer in the room had a large hole in the plastic handle showing the wires. The communal areas had worn carpeting with large swirls as if numerous glasses of wine had been dropped on it. The view from our room was of a multiple broken windows in another wing of the hotel. However the hotel is centrally located and has secure parking.
We stayed here to attend a friend's wedding. It is cheap and in a really good location to access all the amenities in the town. The staff were also very helpful. The communal areas of the hotel are OK but the rooms are pretty basic and a bit tired - it's fine if you are not spending a lot of time in your room and just want somewhere convenient to crash.
Seeing other reviews for this place I must have stayed at a different hotel, staff were excellent, arrived early but room was ready so we could change out of our riding gear to visit the Reims car museum. Secure parking for the bikes, easy to get to via satnav, room at the top of the hotel but was OK, modern, clean, working free Wifi, nothing to complain about. Two minute walk to the main street for bars and restaurants. Now prefer Kyriad to Ibis.
This hotel is a health hazard. The photographs online are NOTHING like the actual rooms. For your own safety stay anywhere else but here! Disgusting, dirty, dark, dusty and old!!! The carpet was not secured properly and there were loose screws sticking out of the metal strip designed to secure the carpet which I cut my foot on, when I looked down the carpet was full of bugs! The door to the room did not shut properly, the safe did not work, the air conditioning was excessively noisy, the walls were full of holes - particularly in the bathroom, the shower floods the floor. No bin or loobrush in the bathroom and a sticky floor, there was a handsoap dispenser but it was broken so no handsoap. The window sills were mouldy and we had to put the curtains up ourselves. The view from the window was of a dead bird. I woke in the morning full of bites. We paid extra for a bed for our son but it sloped sideways. The hotel advertise WiFi but this was also not working and therefore the staff could not accept credit card payments so we had to pay in cash. We complained about the state of the room but the staff were not interested. All in all a dreadful hotel.
So we booked this hotel for 2 nights. We've stayed here as a stopover for 20 years. The room they shoved us into this time was unventilated, very old noisy air con that didn't cool it in this hot summer weather. We asked for an additional pillow as they were flimsy and small. The receptionist didn't know where to find one so she promised to bring on up when her colleague arrived but no pillow came. The biggest concern was the bedside lamps. A clear fire hazard with scorched shades that got red hot when the light was on. While we could leave ours off the next room might have triggered the inevitable fire. The shower squirted all over the room instead of on me. Won't be going back
Room was fine, but slightly worn down and missing af few fixtures. Kind and helpfull staff. Good location close to a lot of restaurants, and not far from the champagne houses/tourist attractions. All in All a pleasant experience.
I don't know what happened for those bad reviews...this is a nice, clean, newly refurbished hotel. The front desk was welcoming, spoke English too. Excellent location. Near train station, cathedral and loads of restaurants and bars and the tourist info. Excellent breakfast. We opened the doors to the balcony, moved the two chairs and one of the bedside tables into the opening, stripped off (it was a blistering hot June day) and drank a bottle of champagne! Wifi, free, but pretty poor.
Where do I start? Don't waste your money - stay elsewhere. Attitude of staff was terrible, no attempt to fix aircon despite temperatures of over 30 degrees, no explanation or even complimentary water. Rooms were small, dark and dirty. Ladder left in the corridor outside my room all 3 days I stayed and one day, a hoover was in the corridor from morning to evening. All 5 other friends had issues with their rooms (including no working shower for 3 days) and we constantly heard other guests complaining about a wide range of problems all weekend. The only redeeming factor was the location.
The staff were awful. Unhelpful. Unfriendly.. Shockingly bad. The aircon didn't work in the room - At first they said there was no one to turn it on as it was a Bank holiday... It was around 30c outside, and they couldn't provide fans.. I opened the window for some air, the room filled with flies and at 5am there was a man waving to me from the emergency stairs. The bathroom was dirty and mouldy. The shower sprayed the whole room. The safe didn't work. Half the plug sockets didn't work. The carpet was dirty. There was no visible smoke alarm in the room. There was a fish half dead and gasping for air in the entrance of the hotel. The lift dropped about 10cm when you got in it which wasn't great, and the top flight stairs didn't have a working light. The Spa was misleading. There were always dirty sheets and hoovers laying around the hotel, including a dirty sheet left in the bathroom. The Staff ate breakfast at the same time and with the guests, which struck me as bizarre, and were rarely on reception. On the Saturday night, they were even having a party in the bar which made us as guests very uncomfortable.. Spend the extra pennies and go to the Holiday Inn or Best Western. Only plus point was the location.
