Disappointed with this sterile hotel. Don't know who gave them 5 stars, but this place was nothing special. Cheaply furnished, even though our room had been recently renovated. Front desk was slow to respond and lacked any congeniality. For a few dollars more, I'd stay at Hotel d'Urvel.
The staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful, our room was in the new part of the hotel so everything was fresh and new, nice sized room with a very comfortable large bed they had made good room is the space. The bathroom had a large shower cubicle and the shower was good the complementary toiletteries was of a high standard. We did overlook the car park but it did not bother us to much. We had an included breakfast package on day one we was the only guest and breakfast was slick and cooked to order unfortunately I can't say the same about day 2 when after 20 minutes we had to catch the waitresses attention to order our food has our hot drinks was going cold. The staff seemed overwhelmed.
Stayed here for one night for Business trip. I got a new room with very comfortable bed (the pillows were rubbish they looked good but were terrible. The service on check in was ok, there was no one there when we arrived but when she did turn up she was pleasant. The Bar and staff sad, if your going to hire overseas people then please teach them how to talk to your customers. As we’re paying their wages. Overall ok pricey for what it was.
Welcoming staff and an environment that has all the right ingredients but something is definitely missing in this establishment. Ambience could be created by softening the harsh decor in the rooms - flowers, light, white, and 'real' art. We enjoyed the pool area but do the staff have to have their meetings there? A softening of the exposed pool area with potted trees might help provide privacy. Access to the pool is through the restaurant area that seemed to be in darkness most of the time. Once again little ambience there - sadly we weren't at all tempted to eat there during our 3 night stay. I ordered a coffee but was told I'd have to wait as the barista had finished her shift. People eager to provide service and a beautiful environment are what we wanted and with some more effort this established hotel could do it- but at present it should only be a one night stay not a destination.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent laundry facilities. Shame the pool wasn't warm enough to swim in. Rooms were very nice and were quite big. Beds are very comfortable. Would recommend families or couples to stay there.
We stayed here to break our trip from Christchurch through to Picton, and were really pleased with it. The rooms are large and very comfortable, the staff are friendly and welcoming. There's a good bar and restaurant - but's it's within walking distance of the centre of town if you want other dining options. We'd stay here again.
Stayed for the weekend recently - very comfy bed and nicely appointed. Bathroom not the best design. Shower keeps overflowing at the end. Not the most private - our room faced the carpark and you needed to have privacy blinds pulled so people couldn't see in. Maybe they are going to fence this off as it would deter me from staying again if it was summer. Staff friendly and room very clean. Staff finish at lunchtime so your room would not be serviced if you didn't leave by then and being a weekend it was a bit disturbing for them to be vacuum cleaning and conversing loudly early in the hallway.
First, an admission: I chose this place because my first four choices for Blenheim were booked out due to a schools soccer tournament. I'd normally find a smaller, family-owned motel, so this was a bit of a change for me. The place was easy to find, had friendly check-in and an attached bar / restaurant, although breakfast wasn't included in the rate. I can confirm the bar food is good, and the bar staff keen to help. Beers were varied, wine list decent, and restaurant menu for dinner had some good options. I can;t give this place five stars because of two annoying features in the room. Not sure if they were specific to mine or general issues. Firstly, the aircon remote had limited functionality. i'd normally leave it pointing across the room, on low, at a set temperature, but while I could set the temperature, the unit would only operate in 'auto' mode. That means when you try to sleep the unit kicks in at awkward intervals, going full bore to reheat the room (Winter visit) every few minutes, blasting warm air straight onto the bed and creating a breeze. Secondly, the shower. It was badly laid out so your soap/shampoo weren't easily stood up or accessible. I hate having to use the floor. Top marks for cleanliness though. I'd stay again, if my first picks aren't available!
Walls are a bit thin. Could hear everything outside the room. Staff were talking quite loud outside the rooms at an early hour too. False fire alarm was very annoying, especially with no follow up from staff to say what was going on.
Beautiful rooms with every facility you can imagine, all with very high quality installation. This hotel is worth every penny. It will be a big weekend treat for that getaway you've been planning for ages.
