Great location if your visiting Marburg Germany. Walking distance for all attractions. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating, was that they are going through some remodeling. There was nothing mentioned on line when I booked the room, not sure I would have made it if we knew. Very loud during the day. Once they are finished good place to stay.
Agreed that the hotel is in a good location. Beyond that it offers very few amenities for travelers. The brochure in the room has incorrect information and the front desk attendants don't have much information to offer either The restaurant was open only for breakfast and the in room info recommends the Tapas place next door - it would have been very useful to know they do not take credit there - only cash - which I did not have. The front desk does not change money and neither do the nearby banks and they also do not know where to direct you to change money This was a hard lesson learned for me. Also the night I went to Tapas I asked at front desk if the restaurant was open and I was told it was, only to find out that it was not open, still wondering how the attendant at the front desk did not know. Rooms are ok - mine had two different colors of paint on the walls as if they didn't finish decorating, overall not really anything appealing. The shower is ridiculously small - I am not a large person and every time I turned my elbow hit the handle and I was either scalded or frozen. The cleaning of the room was hit or miss - one day I came back to my 'clean' room to find the glasses I had used to drink my water and pop with the empty bottles still there. The soap in the shower was out and not replaced - I finally removed it from the holder and left it on the floor and then it got replaced. The WIFI only works in your room as it is connected through the TV - there is no WIFI in the lobby or restaurant. The breakfast did not change in the 6 days I was there - same items without any variety day after day. No coffee in the room is also a big miss for me - I read in the information provided that there is a machine 24 hours in the lobby - not true - there is no coffee anywhere but the restaurant and its not easily obtained to bring back to your room. If given the choice to stay elsewhere in Marburg I will - this hotel is in my opinion equivalent to a Motel 6 in the US and I prefer to spend my money at nicer establishments.
This hotel is ideally placed for the Aldstadt, as it is opposite the lift that takes you up to the Market Square. However, the lobby is bleak and bare, and the person at the desk when we arrived was uninterested and frosty. We couldn't attract her attention to start with, so fixed were her eyes upon her computer screen. She gave us the bare minimum of information, and announced the restaurant was closed tonight (tThursday). This restaurant was closed for most of the time we were there, open only for breakfast each morning. It was open on Friday and Saturday night and that was a lukewarm buffet. It has no atmosphere anyway, its more like a canteeen for workers than a restaurant. No ambience. But anyway, its not open most of the time. The room was nice. Spacious, clean and comfortable. However, three days out of the five we stayed, our room was not made up at 4-5 pm when we arrived back. As the staff were clearly outside working their way through the rooms, we decided to leave the room, weary as we were, to get them to at least change our towels. Disappointing for a 4 star hotel. And it costs a lot for the room! 214 Euros on the Monday night which I thought very steep. It certainly doesnt bathe in you luxury, its much more like a 3 star. I hope this review will be seen in a constructive light. I have travelled to many hotels in Germany and this one did not go the extra mile and actually felt very utalitarian rather than luxurious.
Stayed here while on business, very nice hotel, good breakfast and friendly staff. Close to the lovely town of Marburg with plenty of good restaurants close by. If you do visit Marburg you will not be disappointed with your stay at the Welcome Hotel.
I was only staying in this hotel for two nights and have to say the rooms are ok , not fantastic but adequate! The room I had faced the street so was a bit noisy due to the students in the area, they were changing the curtains and had a pile of the old ones left in my room! The saving grace was the breakfast, good choice, fresh and well presented, downside is that it’s quite dingy unless you sit on the lower level!
The reception is staffed 24 h a day. Staff was friendly. The room was large. Although comments from management spoke last October about a renovation, there is none ongoing. - And a renovation would be very welcome, sorry for the punch. Our room was very gloomy in the evening and impossible to get to a practical degree of brightness. I switched on four lamps, one by one, walking through the room as they are not following one switch. But because each single one was not very bright, the room remained gloomy. Impossible to find a small object in my suitcase. The bathroom is large but contains no furniture. Forget to unpack your toiletry bag, there is no shelving space. In the morning and with the help of natural light we could see that the furniture in the room was coming from three different series and having three different non matching wood tones. Not a problem, but not a 4 star feeling. We had only tea for breakfast, it was of very good quality. The breakfast hall was empty at 8:15 on a Saturday.
Centrally located. Room size is quite standard and comfortable. It's a walking distance to old town which is worth visiting. Literally opposite the Cineplex Marburg where you have a movie theater and a variety of dining options.
The Welcome is centrally located in Marburg and a short elevator ride away from the middle of old town. Head the opposite way to the river and the Shakey Shake for the best burgers in town. Breakfast is included and offers many choices of fresh fruit, breads, and proteins. My only issue is they wait pretty late in the summer to turn on the air conditioning so Americans might have an issue with this. The central location of the hotel does mean you will get some city sounds at night (cars, people, etc) if you leave the windows open so just be aware.
The hotel is situated very close to the old part of town (Oberstadt) and a 20 minutes walk for the railwaystation. Directly opposite of hotel entrance there is a lift up to Oberstadt. This hotel is classified (and priced) as a 4* hotel, this according to the european classification system. The hotel seems a bit outdated but the rooms are big. Friendly and informative staff in in reception and in the breakfast restaurant. Great breakfast buffe even if the breakfast restaurant can get a bit crowded... Did not try the on-site restaurante for lunch or dinner since it was a lot of restaurantes in Oberstadt.
Situated beside the lifts to the old town and with hotel parking. A nice hotel with a good sized room, quite comfortable and air conditioning. Breakfast was ample the next working and checking & out was effortless.
