We arrived mid-week in offseason, checkin was quick and efficient. There was a bit of a mixup with the room but this was solved promptly. The hotel is not new, but I found things to have been in good shape, clean and well cared for. Our room with a view of the ocean was very nice and the bed was awesome comfortable! The location is very nice, peaceful and easy to either take long walks if the weather permits or a taxi. Breakfast was abundant, nothing out of the ordinary here, but very nice quality ... lots of bread and pastries, fresh fruit and juice, yogurt and cereal and a few hot items, bacon, sausage & scrambled eggs ... good coffee if you could get the attention of the staff for a refill. The spa is a really nice feature for the off-season! Sauna, steam, hot tubs ... the outdoor heated pool was open but it was too cold for me to venture out. I did have a couple of wonderful massages! I would certainly consider staying at this property again.

Costa Galana has definitely a Fantastic Location @ Playa Grande Bay. The hotel is OK, Rooms, Elevators, bars, common areas and Restaurants work just fine. Valet Parking Service is a Plus. Some rooms have really nice Ocean Views. Costa Galana is an option to consider if budet allows as it's not cheap buy Mar Del Plata have lots of options so Don't worry.

The room is fine but over the quality of the food is average. The beach rental is not included and the staff on the beach was not so helpful. The beach is a bit dirty but overall this town is great. I would rate the overall experience as average.

I booked this hotel on booking.com because it was ranked #1 and I wanted to impress my wife while on vacation in Argentina. The service at this hotel was excellent and they gave us a free upgrade to a semi ocean view for the low price of $300 us dollars after the 21% tax. From there the experience went downhill quickly. We were shown the our room and quickly saw that it was in dire need of some tlc. The ceiling was falling down, there were dark stains all over the carpet, dents in the wall, and the furniture was old and stained. My wife refused to take off her shoes. We had booked 3 days and immediately wanted to leave. We tried to cancel our reservation but were informed we would have to pay for the night but could cancel the other two days and they would upgrade us to a better room for free. The upgraded room had a complete sea view. We ended up staying the night in the upgraded sea view room and it was even dirtier than the first. Cigarette holes in the furniture, more dark stains on the floor, old food under the nightstand ect. Upon checkout the next morning I spoke personally with the manager and showed him the photos of what we had to deal with and he gave us 30% of our money back for which I was grateful. In all we only had to pay $210 usd for the night. If you are looking for luxury this is not it. You will pay a lot for a very dirty run down room. I spent 4 nights here, and attended a conference. The conference facilities were excellent. The room was very nice. Upon arrival, the thermostat didnt work well, and someone came within minutes of my call and fixed it for good. On of the buttons to call the elevator didnt work, and despite several repoerts it never got fixed. Internet/WiFi was reliable. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. While there was good selection (eggs, ham, prosciutto, cheeses, pastries, fruits, cereals), there were no whole grain breads, the bread was rather oldish, the eggs were a big vat of too-uniformly scrambled egg. SO, while very good, it didnt seem to match the otherwise high class hotel. Personnel were uniformly very friendly and helpful.

Situated right at the beach – that’s their one and great attainment. Considering that there are no famous luxury hotels in town as Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton, there are no international chains as Marriott or Hilton, this one is taken as the best one… But seriously?! On the beach, but not in the center of the city, more in the urban area, so to the center it’s quite a walk or about 7-10 minutes drive. They don’t provide and beach amenities by the way, except for the beach towels. You sign in the paper when you get them and they tear it when you return. I guess if you don’t – you’ll pay a fine. And they offer a small discount on the cabanas and sunbeds if you rent at the beach. The price for a cabana rent is about 50$, which is not for free to put it mildly. I don’t know how they have 5 stars and for what. I’d give them 3 at the most for the rooms and the ambience and 4 for the gym and breakfast. We had a room with a king bed, which in reality was two beds connected into one with a slot in the middle. Not comfortable and stiff. The blankets were old and I had to pull them out from the closet. There are no any balconies at the hotel. The carpet was very old and beat-up. That goes for the closet and the bathroom. I didn’t get the idea of the designer with a shower partition – it closes only the half of the shower space and either way you install it - the water is falling on the floor. The bathroom amenities we decided not to use, cause seemed that they were made a long long time ago by some dubious manufacturer. Bottom line: may be this style and design was in fashion and renewed more than 30 years ago, but it’s 2016 now, not the 80-s or even 70-s. Our room had no ocean view. As supposed to be at the 5 star hotels – they do have a turndown service, by the way. And a valet parking. The outdoor swimming pool is so tiny that we saw it from the window but didn’t bother to go there. They have SPA. And the Gym. The gym is quite decent and open for the clients outside of the hotel as far as I understood. There were even a couple of trainers working, I mean standing there. There are even two cycling machines, Ellipticals, treadmills, strengths and free weights. Breakfast they transferred from the restaurant to the conference room, because of too many people, summer season. The ambience was completely poor and comfortless. The waiters were cruising along the hall with coffee pots but to see you waiting – you could wait forever. The selection of food itself – pretty good though: a lot of fresh fruits, pastries and sweets, juices, some meat cuts and cheese. Even some sparkling wine I saw there. So, if you’re expecting to receive a contemporary five star hotel comfort- you won’t find it over there, forget about that. Try to imagine a 4 star hotel of the 70s somewhere in the middle of Europe – and you’ll get the idea. And forget about the late checkout, we didn’t get any.

Overrated and living on their name rude and want to charge you for even an umbrella at poolside in the hotel.The information they gave regarding pools off the beach is erroneous as far as it does not belong to them, as well. They also charge you for entering the pool near the beach .although it's understandable to charge for cabanas and chairs beachside since that is customary. However they nickel and dime you for every additional comfort.

Great place. Beautiful instalations. The rooms are great. The view is amazing and the breakfast to. Maybe the restaurants should improve and are to expensive. The beach is juat accros the road. So it is easy to get there. I would recommend the place.

We spent a week at Hotel Costa Galana and were disappointed at each turn. There were a few staff high lights. First, if you don't speak Spanish, your going to have a rough time here. There are only a few staff members that speak English. The hotel is in a very nice location right across the street from one of the many beach areas in southern part of Mar del Plata. Short scenario of pros and cons: Pros: location, swimming pool cute with power jets stations, spa (Sol is great and speaks English), indoor hot tubs and view of the beach, staff friendly, room maids are very efficent. Cons: breakfast was poor at best (forget the eggs), room windows are filthy dirty to try and look out, pool side service is non existent (you need to go inside to get someone to come out the pool or pool tables, staff didn't even know where the business center was or where the computers print to, room is small and very dated, power converter to 110 volt, was prehistoric, room air conditioning was impossible to regulate and noisy, smell of garbage out at the pool or by the hallway door was bad when the wind blew in the wrong direction (our room was facing the rear view of the hotel), brass hotel and room fixtures went out of date 30 years ago, pool food menu was short and food was marginal. Basically find another hotel. Just dressing up the staff in fancy uniforms, does not make a hotel five star. It's the whole package.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for two nights before moving to another hotel in Mar del Plata. The hotel was really very nice and everything was kept to a high standard. The location is not too close to the city center but walking across the street brings one to the roads leading down to the harbour and the sea with beautiful views. The rooms were of a decent size and the beds were comfortable. Perhaps a bit small for a hotel of this standard - claiming a 5-Star Check whether you have a room with a view of the ocean. Meals were pretty good and varied
