We stayed at the Light Aparthotel to attend a concert at the MEN Arena. The hotel is so central to everything Manchester city has to offer, near to the arena and Northern Quarter, an area which I love to visit. the Staff were really pleasant and helpful. We booked a studio apartment and couldn't fault it, it had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone who is planning a stay in the city and doing activities within the city centre. Loved it and will be back.
We found the apartments small but functional. The two bedrooms varied in size one seeming to have the mirror hairdryer etc which was inconvenient as you had to use the other peoples bedroom to put on makeup and dry hair. The beds were comfortable and clean but on the small side. Good location in the centre of Manchester.
So dissapointed we booked this overpriced apartment! We regularly stay in hotels in Manchester but after looking at the website we liked the idea of 'luxury' apartments so we can all be together. After seeing how expensive the apartments were we knew it would be reflected in the accommodation. How wrong we were. We were shocked at how dirty the apartments were, the cleaning of the apartments were appauling. They are extremely tatty (the bath tub was full of cracks) the beds small and uncomfortable and no luxury items at all within the apartment. The list could go on and on. We were told there would be complimentary water in the rooms, so when I called reception to inform them we couldn't see any - they came and brought us 1 small bottle for 4 of us to share (after she suggested there was a Tesco next door!). Nothing justified the price we paid- not the location or the time of the week!! What a shame we booked with yourselves and I hope others do not to make the same mistake. We emailed the manager to let them know how upset we were with our stay and were told the place is being refurbed soon and offered a discounted rate next time......no thanks we paid enough this time and wouldn't want to give you anymore!
I always try to stay here when I'm in MCR, clean rooms with good facilities, friendly staff and you can sometimes get a free upgrade if there's availability! Location is brilliant, right in the middle of the NQ. Look forward to staying again in a few weeks :)
This hotel is in a great location and is lovely inside but I can't give my score based on this. First we were faced with some guys stuck in the lift after me asking if we should use them due to them being rickety. Then we were getting ready for a night out - 4 of us - and partner noticed there was water allover the floor in the apartment - the boiler had flooded!! We called down to reception and two night staff stated very cockily that we had most probably caused it, uncalled for and unprofessionally. Anyway in the morning we all went to checkout and asked to speak to the manager, and after admitting liability to an extent (giving us only 50% refund) not even moving us to another room and then speaking to us rather rudely and stating the night staff mentioned we had tampered with the boiler. Please tell me why we would want to ruin our night and potentially ruin our equipment/belongings is beyond me. Would not advise anyone to stay here and will certainly not be staying again.
There is a reason why this hotel is cheaper than the rest and why I have rated it terrible. 1. why take a security deposit for more than the price of your room in addition to the price of the room when you don't have any additional services such as food and beverage, spa etc. four seasons don't take that much! 2. The room that you checked me in to was filthy with remains of maintenance work left in the shower tub and a filthy toilet. 3. The room you moved me to (upgrade) stank of paint and was extremely dry meaning I slept terribly, as well as not being the cleanest room. 4. When taking a shower the water ran brown for some time. 5. The lifts are extremely concerning. 6. The balcony is in a disgusting state of repair. 7. In general you don't feel that the place is properly managed and therefore don't feel confident about health and safety and cleanliness too. 8. No one available to get any water when you wake up 20 times during the night needing water because the room is so dry. 9. Pay the extra 50 pounds and stay in a professionally run hotel. Not worth it to stay here. That's my opinion but as someone who stays in different hotels around the world on a weekly basis, I've come to get a good idea of service standards and this falls well short. 10. One girl on reception was sweet and kind enough, the other one (same one that checked me out) had a defiant defensive 'you should have told us at the time' approach (referring to the fact that I should have come down to reception (again) to complain at midnight that my room could not be slept in due to the strong smell of toxic paint fumes and extremely dry room. 11. All in all the experience at this hotel has left me shattered and I should have used my intuition to obtain a full refund and check out after my first entry into my first room.
We got to the hotel and didn’t receive a very warm welcome. One of the ladies at the desk didn’t bother so much to look up and smile at us whilst the other took the payment and deposit etc but wasn’t very friendly. I just think what’s the harm in looking up and smiling at your customers it makes them feel more comfortable and welcome. We then went to our room we had booked the two bedroom deluxe. We loved the rooms and the lounge area. Though the lounge area was smaller than what we was expecting it was nice and clean and decent sized for 2 people to stay. The balcony was a great added feature. The door was extremely stiff and hard to close. There is a note specifically saying not to use too much pressure as you may be held responsible. And considering the deposit fee was £200 I definitely wouldn’t want to risk it. This was another negative for us. The deposit asked is £200 which is a lot of money to put down as a deposit especially when your specifically in Manchester for a shopping spree and just to chill and splash out. That could have been £200 spent to spoil yourself. Moving over to the bedrooms. They were decently sized. The beds were extremely clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again as it is right in the heart of Manchester. There is so much to do around and at a walking distance. I just wish the customer service would be improved a little it would make this the perfect aparthotel.
I booked the apartment a few months ago for a friends birthday. Never stayed before so was a little apprehensive. Fabulous location, really trendy decor. They upgraded us to a bigger apartment on 11th floor and had put birthday balloons and a card in the room with a banner on the door. Lovely balcony but would be even better in the summer. Great shower, beds, kitchen appliances. Everything was just perfect. I would definitely return again! Parking also underground which I don’t think is anymore expensive than anywhere else. Spaces slightly tight to get in and out of .
Booked this Late and was not expecting too much as I knew I would arrive late and leave early. However the apartment was very impressive- to the point where I am thinking a weekend in Manchester is on the cards staying there!
I stayed here with a couple of friends for my birthday this year. I enjoyed my stay and happy I chose here for my first time to Manchester for leisure. The room was sleek and compact. Not as big as places I've stayed in before, but everything was there - eating area, sofa, tv, kitchen area, bedrooms, bathroom, little balcony. Located in the Northern Quarter but a stone's throw from Arndale shopping centre and the main amenities of the city centre itself. Everything else is around a 10 minute walk away. Staff were ok too, though when I first arrived the ones on reception seemed quiet and tired. Maybe they had a long day leading up to that point? Quick check in process, easy enough to find the room. Not a lot of noise from the rest of the rooms, which was good for sleep. Beds were a little firm for me personally, but I slept well all the same. I'm happy I stayed here :)
