Stayed here one night in early September 2017. The main foyer to this hotel is really nice and modern. However when you get upstairs to the halls and corridors it gets kind of funky, flashy modern in a 1980s kitsch sense. Then, when you get to the rooms, its a huge throwback to old fashioned French bedrooms. The walls had material on them, the beds looked old and the decor was a bit chintzy. That said, the rooms were spotless and clean. The bathroom had a quirky slanted ceiling and was unusual. The shower was perfect. We had a view onto the cathedral spire which was pleasant. The bells toll every quarter hour. Didn't eat in the restaurant but when we got back the place was heaving so the food must be good. It was lively and busy, we finally got a drink after about 10 minutes waiting. This is a charming wee hotel with a slight identity problem in terms of decor. Not sure if it was work in progress but there is a disparity between decors. That said, we paid 60 for the night and slept very well. Parking is free and to the front. I would recommend the hotel. It was full, the restaurant was busy and the staff were charming and accommodating. What more can you ask for.
We were given an upgrade so can't comment on the basic rooms. The decor is a bit unusual and the rooms are not large, but we got the rooms at a good price. We were very happy with our room. The breakfast is good quality. There's a reasonable restaurant attached to the hotel for evening meals.
We spent two nights here. Our room was very spacious over two floors. Very clean and comfortable. Nice view of the church from our window. Breakfast was adequate and was replenished regularly. Would highly recommend.
Booked a private dining room for a family lunch. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the menu selection was a mixture of local specialities and more "cuisine" style dishes. This place also has a more Brasserie style option in the hotel.
This is the second time we have stayed here and eaten in the restaurant. Both times we have stayed in one of the rooms with a mezzanine floor with the bed upstairs and a bit of a living area downstairs, excellent rooms, loads of space and well decorated. The food in the restaurant is excellent, and good value, the service was attentive but the first two courses arrived a bit too rapidly as we were first in but it seemed to go back to normal when it filled up and they had more people to serve.
We stayed at this hotel two nights. Rooms were extremely small with no towels. The heating gets switched off during the day and it was freezing. We asked for more sachets of coffee and the receptionist seemed angry as we had two sachets upon checking in. The food in the restaurant is overpriced with small portions and the staff do not speak any English. On a positive note the town is quaint and worth a visit.
I cannot comment on the Hotel facilities because we only ate in the Restaurant. We sat in the very pleasant bar and had a drink before going into the restaurant. The 'few' staff that were there were helpful and accommodating. We were shown to our table. We ordered our food. The food was very good and all was going well, until we had finished our meal. There wasn't one member of staff in sight. We could have quite easily walked out without paying. We didn't! We waited and waited. Eventually a member of sate appeared. We asked for our bill. It was completely wrong so,we had to go through it all before it was corrected. We found it was very overpriced for what we had. We could have had the same in other places for half the price. It would be better with two or three more staff and more care taken of the bill.
This bring your own wine restaurant is the newest revelation in Baie Comeau. The surf and turf is excellent. The decor highly white in color is very impresive. The service is excellent. The only drawback is the coat rack located in front and not supervised
The rooms in our experience spotless and the restaurant with lots of choice very good. Parking is a slight problem especially on market days which are Tuesday (from memory. The hotel is centrally placed to visit the beaches and to Granville and the gardens in Avranches. If one does not 'fancy the hotel al la carte menu' there are plenty of alternatives in the Town. If you buy copper please look for the imprest mark in the shops as in 'made in Villedieu' There are Chinese look a likes in some shops.
Very convenient on your way south after arriving Cherbour in the pm. Good restauarant and pleasant patio. Parking is good but getting to the hotel around the one way cct is awkward. Good little cafe foor Galeetes just down the road. Do ask for a room at the back as traffic past the front is diabolical!
