Arrived having read some bad reviews on food but was pleasantly surprised to find food more than adequate. I was glad to have the options of beef, chicken, fish and pork. They were always cooked differently. accommodations were great and staff was excellent. I would definitely recommend and return to this resort. One thing - please level the concrete at mini golf course.

Lo que no nos gusto fue que la gente en el restaurante la gente lleva mochilas y se llevan la comida debe de haber super vigilancia porque degrada al hotel. No deben permitir mochilas o bolsas dentro de los restaurantes. Mejoren el servicio al lado de la costa con musica y servicios de meseros para llevar tragos como lo hacen en los hoteles todo inclusive en diferentes lugares del mundo.

Food is repetitive; typical Nicaraguan and good quality

Snacks bar opens half an hour prior to start of lunch. They should consider opening some time between the start of swimming pool use and lunch serving time. Lost items is an issue. Left my watch just to go to breakfast when I returned 45 min later it was gone. Staff seems to be very quick at grabbing items. Fortunately, I had left everything else in the safe except for the watch which I was meaning to wear. They really need to offer free WIFI which even the small, cheapest hotels do so now days.

I have been traveling annually to this hotel because of the outstanding treatment I have received in the past, such as prior hosts Mercedes and Katya, gift shop employee Fabricio, and pool/beach assistants Juan and Rommel. But I was quite disappointed this year when an inexpensive Timex went missing during housekeeping service. When reported to Walter at the front desk, he wrote nothing down nor referred me to anyone to have the issue investigated. The resort is beautiful and the majority of the staff is professional, friendly and helpful.

This hotel really good, wonderful. It's clean, food it's so yummy, the disco it's so fun, interesting. We are enjoying a lot.

Poor service, bad food, public áreas dirty, they sell day passes so is no space around the swiming pool for the guest, no hand soap in the romos, elevators in very por condition.

This was a very nice resort. Beach was beautiful! Staff was helpful and friendly and it did help that some who worked at the front desk knew English. The rooms were clean and had a nice view from the balcony. The pool looked clean too but didn't use it because would rather go to the beach that was short distance away but literally right behind the resort. The food was good too. There were other activities to do as well ,such as mini golf, massages, and a casino, tennis, a few bars. It was just a nice resort to relax, have fun and enjoy your time in Nicaragua!

Outstanding staff! Katya, Fabricio, Rommel, Danny, Snyder, Juan, Lazaro, and Adalith all gave professional and above avaerage attention to patrons when checking in, arranging tours, meal services, poolside activities, shopping, and evening entertainment. I kkep going back year after year and the place/people always gets better! Love it here!

The beach, and flora and fauna, are absolutely stunning. Reception was seriously understaffed and slow, at least when we checked in. Caters to many "middle class" tour groups from Canada and Europe, given relatively modest package prices, presumably. This is a large resort, and accordingly a bit of an all inclusive "factory". Pool is nice and large, and rooms generally fine, although a bit dated. Food is generally good and varied (although can get tiresome after a few days), and staff generally well meaning, and security is not an issue. There is nothing there except the resort, and a week would be a push in my view, even for sun worshippers, (three nights about right), unless one plans to visit other significant areas in the vicinity from Montelimar as a base (e.g., Managua, Granada, Leon, Masaya, San Juan del Sur), generally an hour plus away, which requires transport and, if you do not speak Spanish and or are unfamiliar with the area, a tour guide. Granada in particular, is worth seeing. For our own tastes, we would recommend three nights in Montelimar in the context of a 10-14 day trip to get to know the country. (Note: we speak Spanish and used to live in Nicaragua.)

This is my 4th visit to Nicaragua, staying at the Barcelo Montelimar Beach Resort. I speak no spanish, yet this staff goes above and beyond to accommodate. The Concierge's Desk will arrange any tours for you, without pressure, and even arrange the airport transportation you need, since the facility is nearly 2 hours from the airport. A nice young man runs a quite nice gift shop on the grounds, for those last minute souvenirs - or if you elect not to take the Market Tour. The horses were not stabled at the horseback riding location, they needed to be requested by the Concierge. This in the long run was logical because the heat of the day is probably not healthy for the horses and bringing them to the grounds as needed was wise. The buffet food and snack shack food (at the larger pool area) are always delicious! The bathrooms in some of the hotel rooms need attention and some upgrading. The maid service was very accommodating to our needs, too. As always, 2 thumbs up on my Nicaragua home!

The grounds, pool and beach are stunning. What a beautiful place. Spent an hour or so every day catching crabs (they're everywhere) with my son along the beach. Always seats available at the pool and the beach. Food, rooms, etc. were average like most all-inclusives. Only main difference I saw was the activities were lacking. The place has a lot of activities staff... yet, all they seem interested in doing is dancing by the pool. They're not very interested in organizing a volleyball game.... or even helping you get a ball for that matter.

Everything is in exactly time, you can any information from any employee with a perfect description,the nigth show at the casona was very nice.

I stayed at this hotel a few times in the last few years. This time I found the staff, specially at the front desk to be a little less friendly that in the past.

this hotel has nothing special to offer, ordinary food, regular service an amenities.

Sweetly surprised by our stay here. Food of a great variety, hotel grounds beautiful, and the staff most helpful and provided much entertainment!

6th annual visit lost my 5 star expectation!
