We stayed 5 nights on the 3rd floor in this hotel. The staff are all very very friendly, even the housekeeping are allways saying hello when you pass in the hall. The room was allways clean, they really check everything. The breakfast is big, really big. Everything what you want is there. You can take as much as you want. Only 2 small remarks... The fruitsalad is not fresh, not selfmade, it is just from a can, that is not so delicious. But there is other fresh fruit available. The second remark is .... it is really unpossible to open the buttercups. Only a wild cut with the knife make them open. The swimming pool (indoor), but 100 m away from the hotel and the sauna (in the hotel) are both very clean, small, but enough on the days when we were there. We rented a car, what was very easy, and everytime i found a parking just in front of the hotel. The parking was free. We booked bed- and breakfast. What was very good. So i don't know about the other food. But I saw many people in the bar ambassador. And that is my only important remark. That place looks more as a canteen in an hospital, as a fancy bar in a hotel. This "bar" is in front of the hotel, everybody in the street can see the people who are sitting there, in a boring atmosphére. If you want to discover Malta, by car or by bus, this place is allways a good place to start from. And there are a few very good restaurants in the area also.
We had a good stay at the hotel for a couple of days. The location was very nice with a couple of cute restaurants across the street and a great view. Hotel itself was good, maybe a little sprucing up would be in order, but other than that - overall, no complaints, as the rooms were clean. Breakfast was big, but lacked variety a little - classic continental.
Normally we would not opt to stay in such a big hotel but the price was very reasonable and the reviews we read were good. When we arrived we got a very friendly welcome , check in was fast and efficient. We had booked a room with a sea view and there was an attempt at reception to upsell this to a room on the side branches of the hotel that was nearer to the sea but we declined. It was a good decision as our room was set back from the coast road and therefore quieter than the more expensive room we had been offered. I suspect that in summer the rooms nearer the front of the hotel would be very noisy as they are nearer the road which is quite busy. The view from our room was just fine and we had a good sized balcony from which to enjoy it. Breakfast was a busy affair as the hotel is so large. The choice is good; fruit, cereal, hot food (the man cooking the eggs has a full time job and they were lovely), cold food, bread and rolls, which are frequently replenished and the staff work flat out to clear tables and re-set them but it is not a relaxing experience. The restaurant is big and feels like a canteen and there are just so many people, some of whom forget their manners when it comes to self service food - don't be surprised if you get elbowed out of the way whilst making your selection. The hotel has quite a few public seating areas if you want to get a drink and sit and relax however even in February these were at a premium. The bar is fairly small for the size of the hotel and has nightly entertainment which we avoided as it got very loud but a lot of our fellow guests seemed to really enjoy it. The prices are reasonable though. We enjoyed our stay here but wouldn't be in a hurry to return, not through any fault of the hotel but just because it's so big and busy but if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Qawra this is a good option and much better than the Qawra Palace Hotel next door.
This large resort hotel had good rooms, I think recently renovated, all with balcony, free tea and coffee, fridge, safe which was easy to operate and accessible at eye level, food was plentiful and Malta has plenty of cultural and historical places to visit especially on the excellent bus service.
The hotel was clean and staff were pleasant. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of variety. The room was clean and modern looking. The only problem was a partition door that meant we could hear the room next door and they could hear us. This caused problems as the resident next door constantly banged on the door claiming we had made too much noise. We were only talking so soundproofing is very poor. Expect to hear the residents next door if you have a room with a connecting door. Credit to the hotel for changing our room but i had to ask 3 times due to the resident next door constantly banging on the wall. The hotel facilities were good with a childrens play area for my toddler. The hotel isnt near a beach so bare this in mind. The hotel advertises an indoor pool but it is in a different location further down the road. Overall it was a pleasant stay apart from the lack of soundproofing.
Only stayed for 5 days on B&B basis, but would be happy to return for longer and would also like to try some of the other meals, if breakfast is anything to go by. All the staff were friendly yet professional, I won’t mention any names but everyone that we met went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We hired a car at the airport as we were not familiar with Malta and did not want to chance the transport facilities, when we return we will book a hotel transfer and use the bus service that stops right outside the hotel. Our room on the 6th floor was modern, clean and roomy with fabulous seaview and comfy beds, excellent showers and tea/coffee & toiletries replenished daily. Bottled water is not provided in the room, but then there is nothing in the hotel literature to suggest there is - there are vending machines in the corridors where you can purchase drinks even in the middle of the night. Both UK and European plug sockets in the room ensure you do not need to carry travel plugs and we had no problems with WiFi. I had advised the hotel beforehand that my partner would be celebrating a birthday and on arrival we found a bottle of wine as well as fruit in the room - really appreciated. The breakfast had a huge choice and something for everyone, the only improvement that I would suggest would be maybe a central station providing teaspoons and mugs as these seemed to be the things that run out when the restaurant was very busy. Spending a few hours in the bar in evenings, we were happy with the level of entertainment and it certainly looked as if everyone was enjoying themselves. In the rooms I think it may also be useful to put a small dish near the kettle for used tea bags - not a huge deal and we used a glass but just a thought. If I had to complain it would be that I have put on too much weight due to the excellent breakfast and the great choice of restaurants just over the road! Hope to return again and look forward to an equally enjoyable time. Please pass our thanks to all the staff at the hotel during our stay 1-6 February.
The bar area is cold and uninviting, we had upgraded to all inclusive, but paying guests were served before us, we were made to think that we had downgraded. Our suite was described as sumptuously furnished, but just wasn't! The main restaurant staff were miserable, food acceptable but not fantastic. The Spa staff were fantastic! Hotel is situated set back behind a road with the sea front reached by a tunnel or by crossing the road. Well situated for buses, etc. Sofas in reception were tired. Very limited entertainment. We will not return.
Stayed for three weeks in January . Staff were friendly and efficient , we had a room at the rear of the hotel on the fifth floor the room was large and had all you would expect from a 4star hotel including free wi fi. and free safe no see view but had the afternoon sun on the balcony Food was varied and although we were there three weeks we were more than happy to use the restaurant for our full stay . Would certainly return next year
Hotel is well located for those who wish to travel around Malta very cheaply by the excellent local buses as there are bus stops outside the property. Buses are frequent but can get extremely full. If you do not wish to stand for over 45 minutes to get to Valletta on the no. 45 bus take a 10 minute walk up Tourist Street to the bus station where you can catch nos. 45, 48 & 31 (the no. 31 being the quickest). Single tickets can be purchased on the bus for €1.50 which lasts for 2 hours. Therefore you could go to Valletta bus station & catch another bus to another destination using the same ticket as long as the start of the 2nd journey is within the 2 hours. Cheaper than the hop on hop off bus!! Otherwise a travel card for 12 single trips can be bought from the bus station for €15 ( €1.25 per trip) and can be used by more than one person. It is possible to get to Gozo & back for only €7.65 as buses are co-ordinated with the ferries (€1.50 bus ticket to il Cirkewwa, €4.65 return ferry crossing, use bus ticket to get to Victoria, €1.50 bus ticket back to Mgarr, use return ferry ticket and then use bus ticket to get back to the hotel. A cheap day out.. The hotel breakfast is very good but also can get busy. Tip: as you find a table pick up a mug & teaspoon as at time these can be in short supply when there are a lot of guests. The staff cope very well by clearing tables quickly. Cannot comment on the buffet dinner as we ate out each evening. If you fancy something other than a British pub style meal a great place for dinner is La Sopresa restaurant on Tourist Street. It serves a great 3 course set menu for €14. Beware – portions are huge but absolutely delicious. €3 glass of wine excellent quality. A really good place to eat. Rooms were clean & comfortable albeit a trifle warm at night. Toiletries were replenished every day.
Staff very friendly. The hotel was quite busy I thought for a January. We were booked in for 3 nights as a package from British Airways Holidays. It was good value as we had Business Class flights, Transfers and the 3 night stay in the Seashells Hotel. Check in wasn't open when we arrived so we left out bags and went exploring. Later returning we were given our room keys and went to them. My room was nice and spacious with a balcony. Really good size bathroom. All very clean and modern. Had a minibar (which wasn't stocked so you had to purchase your own drinks to put in it), flat screen TV, and a safe which was free to use. Was duly freshened up every day and was a pleasure to stay in. We didn't really use any of the hotels facilities, except visited breakfast each morning which had a wide range of options. We visited the bar each evening which was reasonably priced and had a good range of beverages. There was entertainment but this wasn't really to our taste, but most of the guests seemed to be pensioners (particularly the ones in the hotel bar) so I am sure that is what they were aiming it towards. Easy to get to Valetta on public bus right outside the hotel and plenty to do nearby including boat trips to Gozo etc. A good trip and would recommend.
