First of all - this is not a 5 star property. Outside and inside walls are crumbling. The gym’s equipment doesn’t seem safe to use and the showers in changing rooms are cracked and mouldy. You can constantly hear the room chairs being dragged on the floor from about 7am. Secondly, if you travel as a couple you pay €36 for breakfast and about €100 for lunch per day - that’s as much as it is to pay for the room per night. If you want your room fridge empty - or park your car that’s extra too. Lastly, there’s inconsistency in service - there are some friendly staff at front desk - but they tell you conflicting information - we’ve been told we could check out at 6pm no charge, then we’ve been told 1:30pm - an hour later we get a call saying we need to check out at midday because the guest for our room has already arrived - even though the hotel has free rooms as they’re still selling for this date online. We will not be returning to this hotel and I will discourage any of my friends from staying here.
Stayed here in November for 4 nights. Upon morning arrival was informed that room would not be available until 3pm and no other rooms available immediately except if we pay to upgrade - which we did and received a Junior Suite. Large room, with two sets of doors out onto a wrap around terrace with sea view on one side and pool view on the other. Comfortable bed and pillows and very nice upgraded bathroom. Nice touches with Nespresso machine, slippers, toiletries and the like - which should anyway be standard for a 5-star hotel. Good staff service from the house-keeping staff and dining room staff. What was not so nice was the cockroach my husband had to kill in the bathroom and the army of ants on the desk/table that the hotel dealt with. Patio doors onto the terrace on one side were extremely hard to open and on the other side impossible and the glass on that set was cracked in the bottom corner and on both sets of doors the glass vitrines were very dirty on the bottom half. The food in the hotel is definitely not 5-star hotel quality - breakfast was acceptable but the evening buffet for Euros 32 in the hotel dining room was very poor - very unimaginative and limited options and not very tasty - we only ate there once but no wonder it appeared to be far from full up most evenings. We had this type of set price buffet at a 4 star superior hotel in Cyprus (Mediterranean Beach Hotel) and the difference in quality/choice between the two was like night and day. As we had a late night flight back we asked if we could have late check-out (which according to the Radisson web-site they offer free subject to availability) - was told that it was not possible, but if I pay I can use another room. When I said that I had already paid to upgrade upon arrival the acting manager on reception came over spoke with the girl and then told us they had no rooms available at all. In our experience most 5 star / boutique hotels will accommodate this request even if it is only until 6pm although some will request a very nominal additional amount if you have to move to another room. Overall our stay was acceptable apart from the above mentioned disappointments however doubt that we would book a Radisson Hotel again if this is reflective of their five-star standard. It should be noted that the hotel is located in a very quiet area at the end of St Julians Bay and you are a long way out from any amenities apart from those at the neighbouring Corinthian Hotel. It takes about half an hour of brisk walking just to get into the centre of St Julians (not that there is anything much to do there - a bit seedy looking to be honest). To get further afield like Sliema (day or night) you need to walk from the hotel up the hill to get the bus or call a taxi. The bus (no.14) takes about 40 mins and on the return journey it is packed sardine- style and runs about 3 times an hour. Also on the return journey it stops at the Pembroke Park & Ride depot before it starts the loop again or if it is then out of service as happened to us on occasion you need wait /change to another bus. Due to the location we found that after having gone into Sliema or Valetta or further afield during the day after we returned to the hotel it was too much bother to go out again via taxi / bus to find something to do in the evening. So on reflection it may have been better to stay somewhere more central where there were more amenities in the immediate vicinity.
We were looking for a relaxed stay with a decent balcony and view which is exactly what we got! I was viditing with a friend so we booked a sea view family room to ensure we had plenty of space. This was fine for us although may have been a bit too cosy for a family! We ordered room service on our last night which is a rarity for me...I have to say this was a really good experience when they wheeled in and set up a table in the room. The only negatives for us were that very few staff managed a smile and the fact that the hotel is further out than we thought which could be a good thing if you wanted peace and quiet! Overall a very pleasant stay.
Just got back from a great week in Malta for the time of year we had lovely warm weather althought not warm enough to use the outside pools but inside pool was ok. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful always had a cheerful hello any time of the day. The room was of good size and cleaned to a high standard the only complain was the position of the full length mirror. Our stay was half board so we had breakfast and evening meals, the breakfast was the usual hot and cold buffet. The evening meal started off ok but after 3 days it started to look like the same stuff just moved around to a different food station a little disappointing. Only a short walk to the town with lots of bars and shops, a bus stop just outside the hotel where you can also get the sightseeing bus. If you like to go out and about there are plenty of places to visit on Malta and a trip across to Gozo is well worth it.
Just returned from 5 nights at the Radisson with Voyage Prive and what an excellent stay it was. Our Deluxe sea view room had all the amenities you'd expect plus nice touch to have complimentary water every day. We ate at the bar a couple of times and the food was very good and not unreasonably priced. The staff throughout are invariably friendly and helpful. Our only disappointment was the indoor pool (too cold for the outdoor ones) which we felt should have been warmer and hence the room itself wasn't very warm or inviting to stay in (note there is a difficult to see shower in the corner opposite the entrance door and you do not have to shower first in the changing room and drip water everywhere getting into the pool room). The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to Paceville but you can walk much further if you want to of course. Next door is the Corinthian resort which has a Pizza restaurant and an American Diner (both good but book to be on safe side). Further towards Paceville are bars and restaurants. Nearby bus stop gets you along the coast to Valetta and the Hop on Hop Off bus stops outside the Corinthian.
Very good overall but we could have done with a few more plug sockets and full length mirror in room. Staff very good and we enjoyed room upgrade to sea view. Bar was good but food a bit on the pricey side.
Certainly not a 5⭐,was so looking forward to coming here (we are still here room 455)for a relaxing holiday but as the hotel has wooden floors ,I feel we are sharing it with residents from upstairs, so if we can hear them, then downstairs must hear us walking about so we made the decision to take our shoes off at the door. As for happy hour it's only local alcohol that is 50% off ,so that was a disappointment. Everything appears start in June and finish in sept ,why? People are still coming to the radissonblu The outdoor pool is in need of some maintenance. The lido is nice. I had a spa treatment which was lovely and so was Helena in the spa. I was quite shocked at the state of the showers in the spa,they need new ones The hotel just needs an atmosphere and an upgrade.
Lovely hotel. Room was clean. Shower pressure was a bit rubbish. Pool service only in July and August. Only a short walk from town. Although there isn’t much in the town apart from gentlemen’s clubs. Overall a 3 out of 5.
This is a lovely hotel. It is spotlessly clean, the rooms are large and well equipped, beds are large and comfortable. We had a room with a sea view which was a bonus. Unfortunately we went out of season so the Edge restaurant was not open but people were still swimming in the pool. We did complain about the food one evening in the buffet restaurant but the response of the hotel was excellent - they moved us to the Bistro restaurant which is waiter service. If we return to Malta we would certainly be keen to stay at this hotel again.
We have just returned from a weeks family stay at the Radisson Blu. It is well located within walking distance of shops and restaurants but away from the noise and bustle. We booked 2 interconnecting rooms which were huge, quite, clean and had a lovely view over the bay and sea. They each had a balcony which was lovely in the afternoon sun. The beds were very comfortable and we slept really well throughout our stay. The breakfast was very good with a large array of choices from fresh breads to fruit, smoothies and full option of hot food. They were happy to cook eggs to order with poached, omelettes and fried all done fresh to order, as was the coffees and freshly squeezed juice. The kids loved the pancakes, waffles or fresh donuts on offer each morning. We did not eat in the restaurant but did eat in the bar twice which was lovely and the staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful. The staff throughout the hotel were pleasant helpful and polite. We hired a car and the concierge staff helped to organise this and gave us some great tips on where to visit. I had a massage in the spa which was exceptionally good. Some areas of the hotel are dated, the pa being one such case but the staff more than made up for the decor. The indoor pool could also do with an update and warmer temp for the Winter months. Overall though we had a lovey stay and would recommend the hotel.
