We arrived at the hotel and had a good greeting, got our key and went for our room. Sadly it turned out we have single beds, despite we ordered doublebed. Nevertheless everything else was fine. We returned to the reception, and they told the matter would be looked into the next day as we arrived at the late evening. The next day the reception had another room reserved for us and we could just pack our stuff and leave it in a room. They would move our baggage to the new room when it was ready and thus we didn't have to stick around, and instead we could go see the lovely nearby locations. The reception was extremely friendly and easy to talk. We had some questions about locations, attractions etc. and they could all help out with that. We enjoyed ourselves at the pool, used their own supermarket for various supplies instead of going into town and relaxed on the balcony with a great view. During our stay we didn't notice any kind of noise either. The hotel is placed in one of the less busy areas. Last, but not least I was a bit surprised when the guest manager Alexis Meylaq phoned our room and asked if everything was in order. It might just be me, but I like when people are proactive about things :) Definitely worth a stay!
I spent a week at this lovely aparthotel for the first time recently and will certainly return. It has a good location with easy access to bars and restaurants nearby and is close to bus stops. The hotel rooms are air conditioned and also have ceiling fans, direct dial telephone and television together with 24 hour reception. The pool bar was good serving various snacks. However during my stay the restaurant did not open and neither the Irish bar which are owned independently from the hotel. Breakfast was adequate although the air conditioning was not working. I did get the chance to speak with the Sales and Guest Relations Manager, Alexis Meylaq, who is extremely professional and approachable and can always be relied upon to sort any minor difficulties should they arise
Been to this place before and as usual all ok. Clean tidy has a pool and a bar. Pool cleaned and checked every day around 7-30 am. Apartment nice size self catering but with prices lowish you will go out. Several good restaurants around plus lots of bus's one even going to airport. Will come again. Temp at moment 92 at 18-00.
I consider myself to be a very seasoned and worldwide traveller. As such I have stayed in many varied and different hotels, some excellent and some bad. Without launching into an essay of a review I would simply say that the Porto Azzurro, in my opinion, exceeds the excellent category ticking every box with everything you could possibly hope for. If I had to pick one aspect in particular it would be the warm and friendly atmosphere generated by both the layout and amenities at the hotel itself and the wonderful members of staff, headed up by Alexis Meylaq the Sales and Guest Relations Manager. It has to be said that she is not only one of the most professional people I have ever met but also the nicest. We have stayed countless times and are looking forward to returning again in three months time, can't wait to go back!!
Two of the ladies in reception were very helpful but the hotel needed a good update. We had to ask twice to have our patio cleaned as it was very dirty because water dripped onto the patio from the room above so the tiles were always wet. The room was basic and fairly clean.
We loved small swimming pool, water is warm and nice. Rooms were neat and all required stuff in the kitchen was provided. Towels were exchanged regularly at the reception. The hotel stay costed very less for us, value for money.
Had a fabulous time in Porto Azzurro the staff we're very friendly especially the receptionists helpful and amenable with anything you wished. The rooms were very clean tidy, clean crisp linen and white white Towels. The pool was only across the road which was lovely and warm. What we liked about the pool was the steps going down to the pool concrete very safe. Disappointed with a sunbeds as they seem to break very easily. There was a pool bar which we found very expensive but very nice clean fresh and very helpful staff.
We returned again to Porto Azzurro during March this year. As usual, we were greeted by the friendly faces of the staff, most of whom have chosen to stay there for many years. Alexis Meylaq is the Sales and Guest Relations Officer. All of the staff are very obliging and helpful. Alexis, especially can always be relied upon to resolve any problem which may arise during our stay. We come here to enjoy the quieter and greener parts of Malta. Just down the road within easy walking distance, is Simar Nature reserve. This is open on Sunday's and well worth a visit if you are a bird lover. Just up the hill from the hotel is a nice walk to some Roman Baths. Following the Pilgrim's Way past some medieval beehives, then a very ancient Carob tree, past ancient cave dwellings and some medieval burial mounds. At the top of the hill the path joins a ridge path. To the right there is a view over St. Paul's Bay, and to the left, across the Kalkara ravine, of Selmun Palace. There are lots of other local walks of interest, some going to Selmun Palace. A nice one that we enjoy is via Mistra Bay beach. There is a lane leading to it which passes under the middle of Triq il Mistra, a short bus ride up the main road from Porto Azzurro. Once more we enjoyed a comfortable stay at Porto Azzurro and also discovered more new to us, walking areas. Lawrie, Pat and Denise
