Staff Patrizia- super professional front desker backed up by her team! James & Daniel Pool Bar Excellent service with all those nice little touches nothing too much trouble. Chris, Kapil, plus others great job looking after the rooms, so happy and friendly... Use of next doors 5star facilities... preferred the 4 star and a lot of 5star folk used 4 star side! Expensive total cost but so much better than all the competitors prime views... will return
My first ‘welcoming’ to my room was trying to have a shower in the bath/shower combo. The hotel has opted to glue/mastic the flexible shower screens firmly to the side of the bath which means you have to actually get inside the bath before being able to reach the mixer taps. So you instantly get wet. Next both the hot and cold water was running brown and leaving heavy residues of rust in the sink and bath. By the time this had cleared, there was no hot water left. I then discovered that the room had no easily-acceptable power points - none at all at desk top level; so to charge any devices l had to unplug the bed side lamps. I had also chosen a superior room with a balcony to relax in the sun in private - but no sun lounger; only two harsh seats and a table. There is plenty of space outside to lay in the sun but the sun loungers and side tables are stained, and no drinks/refreshment service. I had read reviews praising the breakfast offering; very disappointed to find it was no better than some lesser star hotels l had stayed in on the island and in fact needs to improve its labelling. And then there is the location; it is just up the hill from the very sleazy and noisy St George’s Bay bar/nightclub/‘gentleman’s club’ area which you can hear most of the time. But the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the coffee shop in the foyer is excellent both for choice and service. Apparently the site is due to be ‘redeveloped’ - l’ll leave you to decide why that might be?
The superior family room was spacious, comfortable and very clean and the sea view nice. Service at Hotel in different situations was kind and professional. Breakfast was fantastic! Our birthday girl was surprised with a cake and balloons! Pool area was clean, good towels and the ability to sea swimming was lovely. A bit difficulties with renting a GoPro but that was corrected next day. Malta Public Transportation bus stop is in the front of the Hotel. Good restaurants at the hotel though even better near at Paceville. This hotel is a very good choice.
I stayed at the Marina hotel for three nights with a friend. The hotel is very nice and the breakfast is also good. It is also in a good location as it's right by a bus stop and next to lots of shops and restaurants. When we first arrived we were placed into a room in the basement with very loud building work and drilling noises going on in a nearby room. It was all you could hear. We phoned and complained and they moved us to another room pretty quickly. It was clear they were well aware of the noise so slightly annoying that they couldn't have just given us a room in another area of the hotel from the beginning. The check-in experience was also very average, with the woman showing no enthusiams or friendliness towards us. The trainee who was by her side was a lot more welcoming and helpful with our questions. We did not use the pool as we visited in March, but it looked quite small, and it seemed that most people walked a few minutes across the road to the Corinthia. The spa is very nice and we used it most nights, but it was a bit annoying that we had to leave the hotel to use it. They should consider building a spa at the Marina. Overall, if I was to return to Malta, I would spend the extra money and stay at the Corinthia.
I wasn't happy right from the start, as I had asked for a seaview room and in the end my room looked out onto the front street entrance. I had very high expectations beforehand, possibly from looking at the website that gave out a "wow" factor. The truth was pretty far from it. It's OK, I wouldn't call it good value for the rates it charges. On the plus side, it's close to the "action" (bars, clubs and restaurants) in St. Julian's, the breakfast is decent and the wifi is solid throughout. One final thing that should probably make me give a lower rating: the bed was really old and decrepit, I woke up on two mornings with a terrible backache.
Booked this hotel for location, star rating and reviews when staying with my husband. The hotel is definitely not a 4*. Although the staff were friendly enough the rooms were very very tired. Bathroom - rust stains under sink, rust around bath and black mound around ceiling. Towels were absolutely awful. Bedroom - rips in sheets, pillowcases didn’t fit the large pillow, runner on bed was ripped and duvets very lumpy. Fridge - very rusty shelf. Curtains on window we’re hanging off and hem falling down. Luckily we were able to use the pool in The Corinthia (if you accessed it the correct way) as the pools in The Marina were tiny. The only downsize however, was that it was overrun with locals whom were very noisy so no chance of relaxing.
The hotel is old, tired and worn. Thank goodness you can use the neighbouring Corinthia hotel pool facilities as the Marina pools are depressing! However be prepared for it to be over run by noisy locals! Our room was clean but in need of gutting and starting again, you can hear the music from the bars word for word! Having said that the breakfast, cafè and Italian restaurant were nice!
City view room at the ground level with people walking by on the street and being able to loon at me in my bed. This should not be a hotel room. It should be a garage. Artived at 14.00 and the room was not ready.
I stayed in this hotel few weeks ago during my first holiday to Malta. It was a good choice and although not all reviews were great, I was very satisfied with room, staff and location. I paid extra for supreme sea view but I don't think there was any need for that as you probable get a great view from any room and I didn't stay much in the room to actually admire this view. Our room was cleaned daily to great standard and towels also changed even when not requested. We only had breakfast at this hotel and never actually tried the restaurant for their evening meal so I cannot comment but breakfast was good. Hotel staff was excellent and I cannot fault them. It was my mum's 60th birthday during our holiday so I contacted the hotel prior to departure if they could do something special for her and they did - they left a lovely birthday cake in the room when we got back that afternoon. I think location of this hotel is great. You have few restaurants just outside which was great as we arrived lunch time and our room wasn't ready until 2pm so we went for lunch while waiting but about 10 minutes down the road, there are plenty of other restaurants, bars and shops. Also outside the hotel is a bus stop that takes you all the way to Valetta (about 45 minutes by bus) or Sliema for ferries and day boat trips. I highly recommend buying Malta discount card for 20 eur which can be purchased at the reception when you arrive - you get discounts on food, entry to certain sights but also hop on and off bus which saves us about 12 euros for 2 people so well worth it - you get your money back within a day or two. Great stay and would definitely return in future.
We where staying voor 8 days. the location was very nice. everything was within walking distance. The swimmingpool was great and there were more than enough sunbeds available. The service by the pool was so so.
