booked for a week, room 500, no cleaning or change of towels offered until we demanded, the fridge was over iced and door wouldn't close, room very dirty, other peoples property left behind. only good thing was the view - oh and the top pool is nice, gym flooded and inside pool closed Staff very disinterested and the spa was closed as was all the bars, apparently the hotel has been taken over by the courts so no one, as in the staff is interested in helping any guest - I would avoid this hotel breakfast is minimal and once it runs out - that is it,. no more until the next day
The place (the "newer" part) looks OK from the bay...walking into the place is something else. Reception area is OK... the rest.... On arrival we were not told that we had to actually put on the hot water heater...we were left having to wait for the water to heat up before showering.. At breakfast, two hotel attendants were too busy playing on their mobile phones (with annoying sounds, by the way) to even offer any help. Poor breakfast. After we were ready from the poor offerings, one attendant asked us if we wanted toast! ...when we were ready to leave...as if to say, don't want to bother doing it for you guys! Breakfast is served at the top of the "older" part of the building...lovely view, if only it were not interrupted with boards that replace a broken glass on the big doors/windows. The room furnishing is OK for what one may expect from such a place...but, oh! take your own soap and shampoo...what is offered is hardly enough for one hand-wash. Anyone can walk in to the hotel, unquestioned from the back door...did not feel safe leaving our stuff in the room whilst we enjoyed the beautiful island of Gozo...there was no receptionist to be seen on our check out,...so we just walked away...pity we had paid in advance! ...by the way, the view from the room was lovely...Xlendi Bay is a lovely place....
i have been too many hotels within Europe but this is gotta be the worse when i arrived to check in the man at the desk was too busy on his phone to even relise i was there when he did notice me he could hardly talk any English and could not understand me now as a very busy tourist area i would expect workers to understand English as it is one of the main langues in gozo .when i did finally get my key after a half hour trying to check in the room wasnt that bad but not what u expect for the money you pay for.so the next morning i went to check the breakfast which opens 8am-10pm well its pile of rubbish the bread was stale the sausages gave a bad stomach all saw the sat outside smoking which i think is unprofessional due to guest and near food. The bar is never open which i find absolute a joke as i wanted a beer on a sunbed next to the small pool.
My partner and I were excited to go back to Xlendi in Gozo a second time, having stayed in Xlendi 2 years ago. We decided to stay in Hotel Xlendi Resort & Spa for the great location and amazing views. As our flight was going to reach Malta airport quite late (10 to Midnight) and by the time we got the ferry across to Gozo. We wanted to arrange a transfer. After calling the hotel reception to organise a transfer, we were told they could not help us. So, we decided to arrange another transfer through a Malta taxi. When we arrived at the hotel, there was no one there and they did not leave a key or room ready for us. We had to call an emergency number, which was posted on a piece of paper and a lady came down from upstairs to let us in as she was asleep and made us a sandwich which was kind of her giving the circumstance and put us up in a temporary room. The next morning, we were moved to a nicer room with an amazing view. Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am. We went down at 9am and there was nothing for us to eat and this was the case every morning for the week. We then had to spend extra money on having breakfast in the nearest café and this left us short as we did not expect to buy breakfast every morning as the breakfast was included in the price. On Wednesday, we went out on a night out in Malta and we came back to the hotel at 1 am after going to see a show. Unfortunately, our room key card would not work and there was again no one to help us. We called the emergency number on the desk 3 times and on the 3rd time the phone number was going straight to their voicemail. We texted this number at 10 to 1 am. there was no reply. Luckily, we still had the previous emergency number stored in our mobile phone, so we called after an hour the lady from the 1st night came down to let us in. At 03.51 am, we received a text asking if our key was working from the number that hung up. Direct quote from text message: ”Dear guest, did you manage to get in your room? Is you key working? If you need any help let me know hotel” We spoke to the staff about this and a girl who said was the manager produced an old mobile phone from about 15 years ago and said it does not work all the time. We made numerous complains about the breakfast, the key problem and lack of support when it was needed the most. Most amenities were not available to us. The indoor swimming pool and entrance from the tunnel was closed. We were told to call ALPHA ROOMS as they are our agent and if we had a problem we had to take it up with them. We called Alpha rooms over 5 times and still we did not receive a cal back as they said they would. To conclude, this is a very badly run hotel. There was damp coming through the walls. Dirty unhygienic pillows that were yellow from head sweat. We had to ask for clean sheets, towels and toilet paper. My partner and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. This hotel is a building site and looks very run down. ALPHA ROOMS did not mention this in the advertisement. We have photos and videos to prove this.
Was booked for 6 nights with a large group - 7 rooms across the hotel and only stayed for 1 due to the horrible state of the hotel. Upon arrival we had incorrect details for all of our rooms, had to wait over an hour to actually reach our rooms (was 6pm at night and no one else around). When finally taken to our rooms we had to take two elevators, a creepy hallway (covered in mould) and then another elevator to our room. When arriving in our rooms all bathrooms were covered in mould, beds and pillows had hair all over them, rooms smelt of bleach, pillows were old & dirty, sheets didn't look or feel clean. Many of the rooms were on the upper level near the pool which didn't even have lighting at night - super creepy and weird. Another thing to note- the safes didn't work at all. Blankets were not supplied for any of our beds. All photos on the website are a lie - do not believe them. There is direct street access off a main road which is meant to be an 'emergency door' but is left open every night which made us feel very unsafe and uncomfortable. The breakfast was terrible - I saw some of the workers touching the cooked eggs with their bare hands. Everything was dirty - including the cups, plates and cutlery. Overall, the only good thing about this hotel is the location - and even then it could be better. We ended up moving to a lovely guest house in Marslforn. Would highly recommend skipping this hotel - you will not enjoy.
I am not sure that the hotel is 4 star ( more like a 3 star) however it has some nice features. The pool was nice with some amazing views. Breakfast was served on the terrace overlooking the cliffs which was nice. The apartment offered to us was spacious, clean and nice. However, the hotel needs some major upgrading (lift needs cleaning, walls need paint etc), the pool bar was more often closed, the breakfast room needs to have an AC and there needs to be a proper elevator system as we needed to use 3 different elevators to go to our apartment. All in all the experience was positive and I do not regret staying at this hotel.
For all the travellers out there I will try to be as clear as possible. Here are the good and the bad things + location and balcony view. It is almost on the beach, which is a great deal in gozo, as there are not many places with such a view. + staff is very friendly and customer orientated + big rooms with AC included in price - not so clean. The walls are dirty, the sheets are stained, the furniture is old. You have the feeling of travelling back in time, and not in a good way. - very poor breakfast - wi-fi extremely poor - uncomfortable beds
We had to check out in the morning but needed to kill a day in Xlendi before our flights so paid €5 for use of hotel pool and had a great day! Pool on roof was deserted and had wonderful views over Xlendi bay with comfortable loungers (as opposed to laying on concrete next to sea which we had already done). Plus they offered us use of shower and we gather you could also get towels. Staff were very helpful and friendly and pool area v clean. It is a bit of a rabbit warren inside but it's easy to find your way around when you know how.
We stayed last week (16-23 Aug 2017) and found the hotel to be in desperate need of some maintenance, and redecoration. The gym was covered in damp and black mould, The indoor pool was completely closed, the spa is actual just a nail bar and a hairdressers which are always closed. The sun loungers are black with grime and there is damp and mould everywhere. The wifi is rubbish and hardly works. The bar was closed and there is no entertainment or facilities to have fun (pool tables or music) According to locals this hotel has the worse reputation in the area! On a positive, the staff are really lovely and its in a great location.
We had two rooms booked of which an ac in one of the rooms was not working. The receptionist told us that they cannot fix it. She tried to give us another room and still ac not working. Also no fans available. We decided to stay in 1 room since could not sleep without ac cause it was very hot. We asked for a folding bed and they told us they do not have folding bed they can only offer a mattress. So one of us had to sleep on a mattress for 2 nights. The hotel is dirty, dust everywhere, ragged and ribbed curtains. At first the receptionist told us that she will give us a refund since we only used 1 room, when we were leaving and we asked for a refund, she told us that she need to discuss with management. After a month we're still without a reply and a refund. Avoid this hotel.
