If there was a marking of GOOD I would probably have used this rather than Very good, but the hotel is definitely better than Average so I had to go with Very Good. First of all the hotel is up a rather scruffy side street but the hotel itself is lovely. Clean, modern and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. The room (we had a twin) was massive. Very comfortable beds (two doubles!!). Bathroom small but everything you would need. Good TV, toiletries and tea and coffee making faclilities, fridge and hairdryer. Very good air conditioning. One thing that I would criticise is that the lighting is quite dim both in the bedroom and bathroom. I struggled to read in bed even with glasses on!! Also, and maybe more seriously there was only enough hot water each evening for one of the two of us to have a hot shower. the second shower was hardly warm at all. Sadly I have more than a couple of criticisms of the breakfast. The food supposed to be hot is not. Mushrooms and scrambled eggs have a strange taste. Hash Browns (or potato rostis as they call them) are chewy because they are luke warm. Coffee machine also broke down on our last day. On the plus side there is a lot of choice of breads, cheeses, cake, pastries and a lot more on offer. There is a swimming pool on the roof and quite a large sunbathing area. that looked very nice. There is a bar area which seems to be very quiet at this time of the year. I think that the barman was quite shocked to be asked for two drinks at about quarter to ten one evening!! The hotel is quite well situated in the area of St Julian. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby and the loud and lively area of Paceville is only about 5-10 minutes walk away. On the whole I would recommend this hotel as it is lovely and modern and because the staff are so friendly and helpful. PS Because of situation there is no view worth reporting but as we were there in November it made no difference to us as we didn't want to sit on the balcony.
Stayed a week here in late September. Great Hotel but some of the rooms have no view at all. Also St Julian’s is very busy with construction work. The Hotel, room, staff and food were really good. Comfy large room with modern bathroom. Staff are helpful and helped me to book a Segway tour, helped with bus info, taxi’s and transfers. I stayed B+B and breakfast was good. I am Vegan and they had plenty of salad / veg dishes and fruit. There is a nice little rooftop deck and pool which was nice to relax on a sunbed with a book and or a cocktail from the bar. Before my stay I had a back problem and asked before my arrival if they had a mattress topper available. Anyway the bed had a topper on it when I arrived which was really great and helped me to rest at night. This detail on its own made my stay brilliant. Thanks Argento😃😃😃
Stayed for 5 nights recently, hotel is clean and location pretty central although the walkway to the hotel isn't very well lit so found it safer to walk on the quiet road up to the hotel. Being an extensive traveller, I want to warn others this is not the boutique hotel as advertised. Despite the hotel being almost empty, I was given room 412 which backed onto a noisy pub so the first two nights I didn't get to sleep until past 1:30am. I was moved to another room 402, marginally better though woken early with nearby building works. Breakfast was salty, omelettes rubbery and the cakes clearly defrosted, what was more annoying was that my plate was constantly been taken from under me before I finished eating! Final straw was when I check out at 5:20am and asked for a glass of water I was told I needed to buy from vending machine on 6th floor! When I challenged the Hotel Manager, Steve on this point he said the night receptionist is not allowed in the kitchen which is a LIE and he didn't have anything to come back on when I commented that observed the very same night receptionist go in and out of the kitchen several times a few nights previous to this incident. The bar and pool are soulless but don't expect anything else as I was informed they were "out of season" well then perhaps close your hotel during this period and travellers can stay elsewhere. When I sent a rather stern email about my experience, the hotel manager said that he responds in the same manner to which emails are written to him, how delightful! He also mentioned he could of organised a pre-packed breakfast with water had I of asked the night before, quite useful to know after I had checked out. If you want a relaxing stay...this is not the place for you!
All the personnel is well educated and has done their best to keep us happy during the whole week. Breakfast is gorgeous and can be taken in a quiet terrace. The rooms are clean and modern. The location is excellent for restaurants, night out, there is a luxurious marina worth visiting besides and even a small beach. The swimming pool is small but well kept. The only problem is it takes 40 minutes to reach La Valette by bus.
We arrived at the hotel to a friendly welcome . The room was clean and modern .. the safe did not work and the handyman informed us that number 4 often sticks! The room did not have a balcony which I was surprised at as most four star hotels in area do and all the pictures I viewed online showed a balcony . This was not an issue as the next day reception put us into one with a balcony . The hotel has free WI-FI but on second floor it is poor and I’m writing this review with my phones 4G. The room comes with a fridge that does not cool . ( both rooms fridges were poor) The air-con was my main issue which other review commented on . The air-con blows warm air and never got us below 24oc. If I did not have patio door open all night we would be at 26 . ( luckily no mosquitos ) 4 nights we did not get a good sleep . We mentioned four times during our stay air-con was not working but handyman was not able to fix it . The lounge/ bar area seemed always deserted and had no atmosphere even though hotel was full . The breakfast was good, plenty of variety and of decent quality . The pool on the roof was nice although a bit windy . Summary : in a hot country the most important thing is air-con which this hotel failed to provide causing four of our 5 nights to be restless and uncomfortable. This is why I give the lpoor”rating .
The strapline says stylish boutique, I would counter with clean and functional. Not being critical, as the hotel clearly works, is a good price and located bang on the periphery of a vibrant area, just far enough up a side street to be quiet. Arrived late, check in very easy. First impression was that its clean, tidy and smart. Got second floor at the end of the corridor so be hanging out of the window you can see across spinola bay. Room very clean for the time we spent in it. Not really got a negative, other than if you are hiring a car think twice. There is lots of on street parking around the hotel but no where is ever vacant. The hotel have three spaces which cannot be reserved and are first come first served at time of needing one. 10 Euros per day and 2 Euro deposit for the key to the padlock. Staff all very pleasant apart one from one chap in the restaurant who did not look like he was enjoying his job, or was just having day. As there are so many wonderful restaurants in the area, breakfast was often a chore so we skipped it most days preferring to eat out at lunchtime. However it wasn't the worst experience I have had a breakfast buffy
This was the perfect base for us as it is close enough to public transport and you can walk places too. Also ideal to find a good restaurant in the evening. Room was very spacious with storage space and a safe. Bathroom was convenient in size and not too cramped but unfortunately enough didn't shine when it came to the quality of the shower in the bath. Shower was only ok'ish in power and it was impossible to have a shower without flooding some of the bathroom. Air conditioning wasn't always as useful as it was extremely noisy, in October it was actually easier to open the bathroom and terrace window. Breakfast offered quite a bit of choice and can make everyone happy. Service from the staff was excellent and they were very friendly.
Spent 5 days in October. Hotel was very nice, clean, good breakfast, spacious room, friendly staff. Rosaria at reception was exceptional. It is not a luxury hotel but it has all you need for a comfortable, pleasant stay. Location is on a quiet street, but is very close to buses, seafront walks to Sliema, St George bay area and the marina nearby. Shopping, restaurants, Casinos, all walking distance. Good base from which to start you day. No view from the room we had, but don't need it as you most likely will be out most of the day. Would recommend it.
My wife and I stayed here for three nights in October and were very pleased with it. Our room was spacious and very contemporary in decor - breakfast was good in a spacious restaurant area. They had a nice pool on the roof also which is a nice extra but it was just a tad breezy for us to use it - would be great in the Summer though I imagine.. It's a great location for the Spinola Bay area with all its restaurants and seafront walks. The area outside the hotel is hardly picturesque but this is a very old and residential area, so see it for what it is - a great base from which to explore the area. Only down side was bad TV reception and limited UK channels but free wifi balances this out!
Really lovely hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful. Their breakfast options are simply fab (some pics are attached herewith), have a bit of everything. In a fantastic location with loads of restaurants, shops and scenic bay views. Clean and lovely room, lighting was a bit dim bit but that was not an issue.
